I’ve stated before, people are upset with him for the molka chat and they’re mistaken. He was never part of that chat and saw one video that was sent to a business chat that many other people were in. The video sent to the business chat was just a porn video. There was no possible way of anyone being able to tell what was going on from such a tiny clip. Everyone responsible for the molka chat and everyone who was pointed out by the victims is in jail. This includes men more powerful than Seungri.

His case is currently within the military courts and it keeps bouncing from judge to judge because no one wants the case. Even before that there were judges saying there’s no proper evidence against him. I’m supposed to believe some Kpop stan on twitter over lawyers and judges? I’m not saying corruption isn’t a thing but I don’t think that’s what’s happening in this case when Seungri has less power and protection than other who have gone to jail

if you think it’s appropriate to try and erase a man’s life work like you’re doing to Seungri then i have no trouble believing you’re a bad person. even if it turns out he did these things, he hasn’t been involved since the start of his career. you will not deny Seungri of his life achievements and hard work just because you need something to do to justify your shitty fantasy. erasing him from group pictures, trying to cut his parts from songs (again, y’all clearly know nothing about music). while trying to take Seungri out, you’re tearing apart the rest of the group’s history - men you claim to still care for. even if you no longer care for Seungri, even if you don’t care about erasing his history, think about the men you think you still care about. you’re ruining Kwon Jiyong, Dong Youngbae, Choi Seunghyun and Kang Daesung’s music (their life’s work) with shitty editing skills and you still can’t manage to erase all of Seungri because taking out his “main part” does not entirely remove him from the music. to be so disrespectful as to believe that BigBang’s music is so simply made that you can edit it just like that? it’s clear you don’t care about any of them. you only care about fulfilling your little fanfictions so you can jack off on believing you have the moral high ground. this isn’t your cute fandom war, this isn’t “omg oppar so naughty”. this isn’t about fucking “cancel culture”.

I hate to join in on such controversies(altho i have been following the news since the start) because it is only nothing but drama and i really don’t wish to contribute to all the negativity because tumblr is my safe space and i want it to have nothing but +ve vibes. I have kept mum ever since the whole issue broke out because i did not want to add on to all the negativity that is going around but i get triggered when i see posts dragging ri to filth with a lot of absurd information and as a fan of big bang since 2007 i feel compelled to document my thoughts because trying to stay silent has been incredibly difficult especially since i’ve seen some blogs who have been around for some time all speaking up against ri. I have made a post previously (x) venting my frustrations but I’ve never really stated exactly why so here are personal thoughts:

#1 Ri & Burning Sun  Lemme just start with some facts. Seungri DOES NOT entirely own Burning Sun.

Burning Sun Share Percentage: 

- Cheonwon Industry/Le Meridien (the hotel BS was located) 42%

- Madam Lin 20%

- Lee Moonho (BS CEO) 10%

- Lee Sunghyun (BS CEO, Cheonwon director) 8% (this dude is NOT ri)

- Yuri Holdings 20% (SR owns only 40% of Yuri, so technically SR only owns 8% of BS)

As from the above information, Seungri’s shares come from Yuri Holdings in which he owns 40% of so as stated above he only owns 8% of Burning Sun.  Does he have a say in Burning Sun? Of course. Is his say powerful enough to override all the other shareholders should he decide to stand up and object all the dirty operations of burning sun? Most probably not.

If you ask me, my personal opinion is that Seungri has almost no say in how Burning Sun run their day to day operations and is only part of the shareholder because of his celebrity status. Also, let’s not forget that amidst all his “businessmen life” Seungri is also a kpop idol and he has to prepare for his solo album/concert and other activities YG has scheduled for him and getting involved in day-to-day operations of the club is very unlikely.  Whether Ri knew about the type of operations BS had before he decided to join as a shareholder is unclear. This is where you make the decision yourself.  #2 Hidden Camera Chats  Seungri wasn’t charged for rape.

One of the media reports admitted that they intentionally edited one of the chatroom screenshots so all in all the authenticity of all the hidden camera chats are not confirmed.

Now here’s where we all take our own personal stands. People are dropping ri because they deem him guilty as a bystander- knowing about it but choosing to not do anything. 

Here’s my personal stand on ri: We don’t know exactly how close ri are with the other celebrities involved exactly. They may be just surface acquaintances who get together for certain things(in this case the chats) but as a fan of Big Bang since 2007, I don’t think ri is rotten from the core.

In fact he has tried to stop them and voiced out his disagreement before. Ultimately he can’t take a knife and point it at their throats. 

Then the judgement comes on ri’s personal choice of friends. Why is he even choosing to be friends with them in the first place? Who knows? Maybe there’re other benefits like them having connections to people who might benefit him in the future? Who really knows. For one I can say I don’t think ri considers them as his “inner circle”. But as to why he is keeping them around, probably only ri himself knows. 

So you make your own choice. There are many ways we can argue morals. But perspective also comes into place, and as easy as it is for us to take a stand as a bystander, when you are the party involved directly, it can sometimes be hard to outright shut down someone you are close to but not really that close to. ykwim?

#3 What Seungri is really charged for 

Prostitution mediation (Christmas party 2015 ONLY. B'day party in Palawan is not included)

Buying sexual service in Dec 2015

Embezzlement (264M won (brand license fee) but including payment for Yoo’s Nemo Partners became 530M)

Violation of Food & Sanitation Act (registering Monkey Museum club/bar as restaurant for lower tax)

I dont think ri engaging in prostitution services are surprising. Do note that the above mentioned are all consensual. The women knew about it and it was a deal. There was no rape involved. The rest of the charges are his personal choices. If he is found guilty for all these charges ultimately, I think he should pay for his wrongdoings but I don’t see why he doesn’t deserve a second chance should he sincerely repent.

Yeah, all in all I guess that’s about it. Typing this post took an hour and it drained all my energy. Like I mentioned I really dislike any negativity and I’m sorry to all the people who come to my blog to have a happy moment of getaway and is subjected to reading this. I guess I just really needed to get this entire issue off my chest once and for all because some accusations of ri that are going around are really so ridiculous and it breaks my heart. 

All I can say is that ri has worked so hard to get to where he is today and just because of this one incident everyone’s kicking him to the gallows and my heart just can’t allow that to happen although I know it’s pointless to try and fight anyone online but I guess this is the best I can do for him. I will still continue to support ri because I feel that this is the time he needs us the most. This is probably the last time I’m ever going to talk about this issue here(unless more news comes out) because it is too energy draining. Yes! Many ot5 are not supporting him blindly. We have sat down and read many articles and have seen inconsistencies through several. The Molka chat itself is a heavy topic and even then what came out of it was quite the opposite. I’ve seen ppl saying stuff about snuff films when that was a misinformed thread taken out of context - the actual information was from a book written and published much earlier than Burning Sun was even an idea on a piece of paper.

Everyone is free to believe what they want. However dragging ot5 to filth for wanting to know the FULL story is truly not it. Yes your feelings are hurt but so are ours as we fight for the truth. And on top of that Kang changed her story three times on a certain chat - if she is changing them this fast then it is very clear she never fact checked properly. The first thing I got taught in my journalism classes was the importance of fact checking. It’s absurd to see so many articles that don’t do that.

The prostitution itself is all over the place too. Several reports came out saying David admitted he did it but Seungri had no idea, and then insert Channel A saying Seungri admitted to buying, yet nobody but ot5 asked, “How do you get such information from a closed hearing?” There are laws there that state punishment will happen if you leak true statements from closed hearings. Yet no punishment was taken - so how credible is Channel A? Their track record is absolutely terrible and a google search is the start of finding out why. His lawyer himself has had his statements made up by media and deleted. They have not spoken a word to media at all other than the beginning.

The Judge rejecting the warrant says a lot too. Media even made articles on his background to try and drag him. Whether you support Seungri or not is up to you - however do not take away the right of wanting to know the truth from those who have stayed. Look at how this all started and look where we are now.

The negativity is draining and I’m sick of being hated on for wanting to know the full story. We are 6/7 months in and everything is so different from how it started. We have people who have studied law, journalism and so forth who are staying because they too believe the story is different than what media has fed us.

Anyways, thank you for making this post. It is hard to state thoughts without getting dragged to filth. And to anyone who has left - it is your decision and your morals. But do understand many are staying due to their own reasons too. It’s so much more than being a “fan girl.” It’s a real life situation with real life consequences.

Don’t rely on any threads from people that are not in your fandom. A lot of misinformation is started by those out of the fandom who simply cannot comprehend articles properly and mash everything into one big mess.

Channel A has reported many false things in the past. I’m not here to fight I’m simply stating facts. Be careful with who you believe and search the history. Korean newssites will recycle and add on false news to keep the story going. Time and time again it has been proven that an article with any Big Bang member will get countless clicks. There will be clickbait headlines, a first paragraph that makes the situation sound bad then the actual factual explanation at the end where people don’t bother reading up to.

Soompi is the LAST source that is trustworthy BUT EVEN THEN they have MISTRANSLATED SEVERAL times before. At times even leaving out very crucial bits of information. At this rate it’s best to just rely on your fandom translators. Using translation apps can help but they can skew the meaning.

Also keep any assumptions and theories in your messages and don’t post them for the world to see. More people are watching than you think.

Other than that - take a break if needed. Just remember online comments will always make the issue bigger than it actually is.

That’s really up to you! Making sure you have the right information is very crucial. Allkpop is a definite no-no. Any self-made blogs are best to avoid too as they often insert personal opinion. 

Stay away from international sites such as BBC and so on, many have reported false information. Reddit is a hit or a miss. Unfortunately for the Burning Sun/Seungri situation it was fairly a miss as alot of what was being said on Reddit was not even said by K-media, nor the Judge or Police. Majority was assumptions.

Facebook has the sheep mentality as it does on Twitter and Tumblr too. Quora has spread misinformation as well.

Instagram is just reposted screenshots from Twitter. If you really want close to accurate translations, opinions and insights on any news then I would have to recommend you Twitter. It is absolute hell on there but you will find good translators on there - one I suggest is bigbangdope. There are others as well and they’ve translated alot of Seungri news too. I see that many who have left aren’t going to trust them, so really it is one’s own call on what they trust. Just don’t get mad at the translator over the news because remember they are translating best they can.

However, taking a look at Daesung’s case at this point in time it can be solved with legal and logical explanation. Of course, we’ll have to wait.
