Agatha caught the look out of the corner of her eye. It took her a long second to hold her instant harsh retort, causing an argument wouldn’t help anyone right now when she was trying to do something good for the both of them. “It’s called a salad. It’s good for you” She offers simply instead, pleasantly surprised at how pleasant her tone sounded. “A healthy diet is a big part of helping with recovery, complex carbohydrates need to be around 55% of your diet and so I’m making salad a more frequent meal around here to hit that threshold.” Her eyes narrowed as if to challenge her father to disagree, like he could when she’d done the research and found the statistics. This was a game they’d played ever since she’d first learned how to read. Part of her wondered if he ever hated that she’d inherited his intelligence.
hadley-maurine:
There was an equal amount of butterflies and doubt churring around in her stomach. Hadley had never lived with a boyfriend before, and the thought of a serious relationship like this was terrifying. Relationships had never been the woman’s strong suit, in fact one could say she was utterly terrible at them. Always pushing those who loved her away in order to not get hurt. But with Elias the blonde hoped that things would be different. He was kind, sweet, even a bit naïve. There was no reason she’d need to push him away, or so she hoped.
Picking up one of the more flimsy boxes from her trunk Hads teetered on her well worn vans as she tried to get a better grip on the it. Finally, after struggling for a moment the blonde thought she’d finally stabilized but when she took just two steps forward the bottom of the box gave way. Sending all of her work clothes to the ground. Her cheeks began to burn a bright red at all the skimpy outfits and bras on the pavement. “Fuck”, she mumbled before kneeing down, scrambling to put the garments back into the broken box.
@covestarters
“Well at least it wasn’t just my boxes that did that” Agatha calls over to the other to announce her presence, offering what she hoped was a comforting or at least non-threatening smile as she makes her way over. It wasn’t exactly her strongest trait, being reassuring. But when this situation had happened to her only a few weeks prior, unsurprising when it had been the box carrying her excessive collection of mythology books from writing her doctorate thesis. Really she should be grateful it held as long as it had. And she had to have some pity for the other, at least for Agatha it hadn’t been her underwear lying all over the pavement in a new neighbourhood. “The box looks done for. Do you have something else we can put these in?”

Elias was out on his first walk alone since he moved in. Navigating somewhere completely foreign was proving difficult, but he was giving himself the time and patience he knew he needed to use his white cane as effectively as possible. Having been out for some time now, he decided to try his best to find somewhere he could take a rest. Hearing nearby footsteps, he put out his hand to grab the stranger’s attention before speaking. “Excuse me?” he asked, waving his hand up and down for a moment to make sure he had their attention. “I’ve just moved in and I’m a little lost. Would you be able to tell me where there’s a café or restaurant nearby where I can sit in?”

It wasn’t a great day for Auggie’s leg, or more what was left of the right one that felt tight in the prosthetic. These days came and they went, he’d long since learned that he just had to deal with them. He’s making a steady pace down the street with the help of his handy walking stick when he notices the presence wanting his attention, Auggie turning his bright smile to the stranger “Well lucky enough you just stopped the best person to answer that question for you.” Auggie was aware he fit into pretty much most stereotypes for his chosen profession in tech, being pretty much powered by coffee and caffeine, but that also meant he’d already scoped out all the best places to get his fix in his vicinity. “Lighthouse Bagels is for sure the best choice.”
seastheday:
Romeo was sipping on a beer at Eddy’s in what seemed to be the eye of a hurricane of a bachelorette party. He knew he’d likely not last long at the rowdy club, but figured he’d at the very least people watch. Romeo held back laughter as the man next to him, who it took a moment for him to recognize, was hit in the head with an inflate-able penis. “Shit man” he laughed as he picked up the balloon off the floor, “Yeah, either that or it’s a bright pink banana with cherries?” he suggested.
“Damn, what kind of bougie banana and cherries do they sell around here” Auggie was always happy to play along with the joke, even when he was currently the centre of it “someone needs to tell them that they’re selling phallus shaped fruit.” He turns his gaze to the screeching of the party going on behind him before turning back to Romeo with his usual broad grin on his lips, no harm no foul as far as Auggie was concerned “I appreciate you trying to lie to me, it’s so damn chivalrous of you.”
hcartdrop:
It was a comedic to Ivan on how many phallic objects there were in Eddy’s. He felt sorry for the man as he was thrown the phallic shaped object but couldn’t help but laugh. “I’m sorry but, unfortunately it was,” he told thruthfully. “Maybe Eddy’s should change its name to Willy’s, just for today. Do you want me to pick that up for you?” he teased.
“And here was me hoping you’d lie to make me feel better” Auggie offers through a cheeky grin, something of a signature look for him. He finds his gaze taking in the scene and realised his companion had a point, the bachelorette party had doubled since he’d last checked which explained why it had gotten so much more rowdy “I think that would be a solid business move, could sell it as part of the bachelorette package.” Auggie turns his gaze to the fallen inflate-able, before kicking it gently more in the other’s direction “Please, be my guest. I’m sure there are some lovely ladies over there missing it.”
outclasscd:
“ that was , without a doubt in my heart , the inflate-able penis . ” giana has the gall to laugh at the situation ; auggie completely shocked , girls screaming and the penis-shaped balloon still being thrown around from table to table . “ how often are penises thrown in your way , auggs ? ”
“Couldn’t even lie to save my feelings huh?” Auggie laughs cheerfully, though his eyes warily followed the progress of the inflate-able that had made friends with his face only moments ago as it continued to fly around. He had enough time at the hospital as it was, last thing he needed was to go in there with an injury caused by an inflate-able penis. “You know what, it’s not something I’m used to being thrown at my face I can’t lie.”
copperxxgalileo:
This wasn’t a situation Copper had expected to be in. It wasn’t like he’d never been to a bachelorette party - he was gay, so he’d been invited by more than one bride to be - but that wasn’t what he’d anticipated when coming into Eddy’s tonight. It made sense though given the location, and Copper had to admit that he was amused by it. Smirking at Auggie, Copper confirmed, “Well Auggie, I hate to be the one to tell you this, but yes, it was.” He bent down and picked up said inflatable penis, holding it out to Auggie. “See? But I guess it could be worse.” Laughing, Copper looked around, saying, “I haven’t been to one of these in a long time, not that we’re officially ‘at’ the party.” He looked down at the inflatable penis still in his hand, and Copper asked, “What should we do with this now?”
“Wow, you couldn’t even ease me into it?” Auggie found himself grinning at the familiar face, glad to share the humorous moment with someone he knew. He batted at the inflate-able out of Copper’s hands with a bright laugh, generally hoping that it would return in the direction of the screaming bridal party but he’d take away from his face. Last thing he needed was to need a hospital visit caused by an inflate-able penis. “Can’t say I’ve ever been to a bachelorette party, I don’t think I’m the target audience” He shrugs lightly, not that he’d ever say no if he was asked to go. He involuntarily winces as a round of shrieking bursts from the clearly drunk party “Can’t say I’ve ever seen a bachelorette like this either, but all the ones I saw were rich people coming to the ski resort so I doubt they were the standard.”

“Please tell me that wasn’t an inflate-able penis” Eddy’s had all but been taken over for the night by an over-the-top bachelorette party. Now, August wasn’t one to complain at such things, in fact he mused how it was nice to be surrounded by such joy and laughter. But he did have to draw the line at having one of the many penis-shaped items being thrown around making contact with his head. “It was the inflate-able penis, wasn’t it?”

The mid afternoon sun was filtering through the windows making the dust seem to float in its beams. The ac was buzzing keeping the room at a cool 72 degrees all of which was lost to the only person in the room. Gio Laid under a car tinkering with a lose belt one head phone as he worked so he could hear the door. He sighed as he reached for a second tool sadly the one he had in his hands wasn’t going to work for what he needed. After a few more minutes he almost had when he heard the bell of his door opening. “Just a sec” He called out from under the car before sliding out. He whipped grease stained hands on old jeans before looking at who had walked in. “What can i help you with?”
Agatha should have invested in a new car on the move to the Lighthouse Cove. The car she had had already gone through two previous owners by the time she purchased it, but that had been okay for her since she didn’t really travel much or too far. But since she now daily commuted between the Cove and Beaumont City for her job the car was starting to show signs of struggle. Agatha wasn’t normally one to be attached to material objects, but for some reason she felt reluctant to give up on the thing. “Oh hi” Agatha was slightly caught off guard by the sudden voice as she entered the shop “my car seems to be making a lovely thudding noise, figured I should get someone to look at that.”
doctorxreed:
“That’s all I can ask you to do,” Davis replied. He knew Agatha was making an effort, and he had to let her go at her own pace. If he tried to rush her or force her to come to a conclusion about her, then it could ruin everything, what little progress they had made. Sure, it felt like this were moving so slowly, but that was Agatha’s right - Davis had really messed things up, that was for sure, and now he was paying for it. Even so, it hurt a little when Agatha asked him why he wanted to go, not because she had been worried about him being tempted - that was valid - but because she thought he might not genuinely want to go somewhere with her to talk more. That made sense though. During his rough period, Davis had used people, had made excuses, had disregarded everyone else at his worst moments, so it made total sense that Agatha would wonder this. He just hoped that one day she wouldn’t. “It’s genuine,” Davis told his daughter. “Really, it is.”
Agatha watches her father for a long moment, her intelligent eyes looking for any cracks or slip-up in his expression. She’d learnt from experience what not paying close enough attention could lead to, although she really hoped they were passed this now she was just determined to keep her eye on things for that just in case. She didn’t want to miss it if he slipped this time. When she finds nothing in her father’s gaze to concern her Agatha finally offers him a small nod of the head “Okay then, we can do coffee.”

fingers fidget with the hem of her dress, anxious eyes darting around the establishment - oh god, did it look like she’d been stood up? in technical terms, yes, she had been, but not by any date — no, she’d been abandoned by her own mother (which is obviously worse). teeth nibble upon her lower lip, francesca gawking at all of the food that had already been ordered and placed before her for her mother-daughter date - there was no possible way she could finish this hearty meal all by herself. “ um, excuse me? ” her voice is shrinks as she waves timidly at the nearest patron, a sheepish smile spreading across her lips. “ want some free food? ”
It was very common for Agatha to get so focused on her work that she forgot to do other basic things, like eat or shower. Though thankfully today had been an out-of-the-house productive day, touring the location for her new job and other various job related errands so a shower had happened. She’d just forgotten to grab food in-between said errands, so she’d forced herself to make a stop on the way home to get something otherwise she knew she’d get home and continue to neglect it. She’s only half paying attention, looking for somewhere to sit, when she hears the voice. Her intelligent eyes take in the scene before her, realising that was a lot of food for one person so clearly something had gone wrong here. Agatha had never been one to seek out company, but when it was offered she was never one to turn it down either. “Sure, it looks like you’ve got a pretty good spread going on here.”
andreibeloffs:
LOCATION: nothing but flex gym. OPEN TO: anyone! @covestarters
Andrei’s morning workout had been a welcome sabbatical since his arrival in Lighthouse Cove. Retirement—the word still tasted bitterly in his throat—had sparked a steady regression into complacency, a feeling that stung him so harshly, he’d nearly felt ashamed. The restless sting that clung to the new arrival’s bones was only satiated when he escaped the luxurious confines of his home, fists drilling the punching bag.
He mopped away the black locks that clung to his forehead. The sun had just started to peek over the horizon, seagulls bleating against the morning hues. Andrei took a breath, the crisp, salty air hitting the back of his throat. This, he thought, was leagues away from the hustle-and-bustle of Manhattan. Perhaps even he could drink from a glass half full.
His bag slung over his back, Andrei crossed the parking lot. Tinted with the arid blue of the morning, he observed a lithe, hooded figure, breaths plumes of rushed urgency as he fiddled with the handle of the car parked next to him. This was of no shock value to Andrei. A life in the city had lended itself to similar circumstances. As he slowed his stride behind the figure, footsteps light despite his hulking physique, he felt a buzz of familiar, welcome adrenaline.
It was not more than a minute later that the would-be thief staggered away, blood pulsating from his engorged nose. Andrei couldn’t help but let a smile creep onto his face as his gaze followed, and then landed upon the presumed owner of the car. His face dipped back down into placid disinterest, clicking the unlock button on his key fob, “You alright?”
Agatha had spent the morning working her butt off with various class related paperwork, all of which BCU had decided they wanted before she was due to start teaching there. It was fairly last minute of them, but since they had taken a chance on Agatha fresh out of completing her doctorate she could get them what they wanted. By the time she had wrapped up there had been an awful tense feeling in her body, as if the surprise lesson proposals had reminded her of the big thing she was about to undergo. She’d found herself hopping into her car and heading over to the gym for a yoga class before she could really register the thought. And it had helped, the relaxing zen Agatha felt as she excited to the car park exactly what she had needed. And then she’d witnessed first her car almost being broken into, and the consequences of said actions that zen feeling ebbing away instantly.
She takes in the stranger silently, intelligent eyes swiftly moving between him, the car, the retreating figure and around them for any security cameras. As far as she could see there was no damage to the car, so pursuing the guy was far out of her mind. It seemed he had gotten his karma for that already. It takes her another long moment to shift into action, beelining for her car with a determination in her step. “I should be asking you that question” Agatha offers a pointed look in his general direction before turning her attention to her trunk “I have an emergency ice pack in here, you should ice that hand.”
sunriseichor:
“But you didn’t say anything.” Hearing her own words, makes Summer feel like an overgrown child. Maybe it’s too old fashioned – she can’t expect everyone to match her own ideals. Sure, the romantic in her that wanted some extravagant confession or conversation but Summer doesn’t explicitly need that from August. Some affirmation would have been nice. “I mean, you said lots of very nice things all the time but –” She looks up at him like a wounded puppy, unsure how to articulate her feelings. He’s looming over her, equal parts earnest and open which is so uncharacteristic of him. Her fingernails dig into her elbow slightly, now feeling guilty for worrying him. She slumps a little, her arms dropping to her sides. “How was I supposed to know how you felt?” She asks weakly. “People say things all the time and just end up disappearing.” It finally comes out; her words hang in the air and sound like static. Taunting her about everyone in her life that couldn’t stick around or didn’t even try.
As humiliated as she is by the complete emotional oversharing, she craves to be close to August and moves into him instantly. As usual, she’s completely enamored by his everything; overwhelmed by the August of it all. He’s saying all of the things she’s been dying to hear since the open house party (and honestly, probably since the day she moved in). Summer can feel the insecurities dissipating; the embarrassment loosens and makes way for a more favorable warmth. The kind she has only ever felt in the presence of the man standing in front of her. “Oh.” She says brilliantly, trying to process. “You’re a lot more patient than I am.” She finally says, moving a hand to gently grasp the one he has on her face. She smiles softly, allowing herself to drown in his eyes. “I really don’t think I can survive on remembering what it was like to kiss you anymore, Captain Prattes.”
“I guess I was kind of hoping my actions were speaking loud enough” He offers a little sheepishly, rubbing idly at the base of his neck “I was very much trying to woo you by carrying around chocolate around for you at all times.” Hie blue hues watch her closely for her reactions, taking in all the details so he noticed that there was something more to the confession that fell out of her lips, and he tried not to frown as he registered this. “I’d never ghost you Summer, for one what would I do with the excessive stash of chocolate I now have in my house?” He can’t help but turn the moment into a joke, he had to hope it reassured her rather than made her think he was playing off any fears “And two, I couldn’t outrun you if I tried. Oh yeah and three, I’ve been trying really hard not to be a red flag this whole time and wouldn’t ghosting be like...the douchiest of douche moves?” There was more to it all, Auggie could tell. But that wasn’t for him to unpack in this moment, Summer just needed reassurance he was serious and not going anywhere.
He has to refrain from sighing pleasantly, the warmth that Summer brought with her when she was close to him like this was very much akin to having his own Sun. “I’ve kind of had to be a patient man, it takes a long time to learn to walk again” He shrugs lightly, not wanting to dwell on that period of time too long in this moment “I just wanted to make sure I was always doing right by you. I knew the waiting would be worth it.” And it was, to see the way she fit so naturally into his arms and the way her eyes beamed up at him it was worth every second he’d been patient up to this moment. Even just her hand pressing against his was enough to send a shiver down his spine. “Aye aye, Ms Summer Swann” He certainly didn’t need to be told twice, lowering his lumbering height enough so that his lips could meet hers, more than happy to lead the charge on this one.

open for all | @covestarters
lucy is over it. it being the fact that her stupid 2004 jeep cherokee decided to break down – again. there’s a joke for this. somewhere some .50 cent comedian was making a joke about her: a mechanic pushing her car down to her newly purchased garage with her newly inherited money because hey why not check off ‘buying a home’ and ‘starting a business’ at the same time? you only live once right? and the comedian, she decides as she gives another heave to the car, is decidedly not funny.
she curses under breathe, taking a second to rest. as she wipes the sweat from her brow, she thinks she should have checked the ‘buy a new car’ box too – have this stupid thing sent to the dump and made into one of those metal cubes, or something. lucy leans against the side of it, squinting up at the sky and narrows her eyes.
“oh no, don’t you dare,” she half pleads with the clouds in the sky. they are spelling rain, and that was definitely not on her agenda for today.
With the way that the sky was starting to appear more gloomy as time went on Auggie was becoming more and more glad he’d decided to bring an umbrella on his walk. It hadn’t necessarily been chosen for the state of the weather at the time of his walk, rather he’d misplaced most of his various canes and crutches around his house and the golf umbrella had been the best he could find in close proximity that would do the job. Now he just considered it good luck on his part.
It’s as he feels the first few drops that he spots the person in the road struggling, limping over in that direction as fast as he can supporting himself on the umbrella-walking stick. He offers the other a signature Auggie grin, opening up the umbrella once he reaches their side and tries not to wince as he puts full weight onto the prosthetic leg “You look like you need this.”
khelaniwilliams:
Khelani doesn’t object when he offers her his drink. She is now sipping on it, listening to him intently. “Ice fishing? I’ve only seen that in shows but it sounds amazing.” She’d only ever been in the south and hadn’t traveled much with work. The wonders of the world remained wonders to Khelani. “You’ll have to try and out fish me then. We could make it a bet.”
“I grew up in a ski resort town in Alaska, pretty much everything we could do for entertainment involved some kind of ice, snow or cold” It wouldn’t have even been so bad, if Auggie had actually been good at skiing, or the ice fishing etc. And that was all before he lost the leg. “Ice fishing was the cool thing that the guys did on the weekends, but once was more than enough for me.” Auggie abandons his plate on the table, opening up his hands to offer one out to his companion “You had me at bet, you have yourself a deal.”
