The Three Broomsticks always held a soft spot for him reminding him of simpler days back in school when they would go on Hogsmeade trips. Or in the case of him and his friends the times they would sneak out into the village through the secret passageways they had found. It was a cheery little place even in these darker times and it lifted his spirits ever so slightly in his little piece of nostalgia. A voice caught his attention and his eyes focused, having been staring off into space, or perhaps at him, he couldn’t be sure. “You think quite a lot of yourself Malfoy if you think I was looking at you, or that I would want the unpleasant experience to last any longer,” he muttered taking a sip of the drink in front of him. And his cousin was marrying this bloke? Not that he and Cissa were in contact after he was disowned, but he still couldn’t help but want the best for her.

lucius had no tolerance for traitors in general, but sirius black he ought to take more seriously, considering it was his fianceé's family he was embarrassing and bringing shame upon. or perhaps the malfoy was itching for a provokation. both could be true. "you should know all about unpleasant experiences, considering you're a major one when it comes to your family."

Looking to find Emmeline and obviously not paying attention, Rodolphus fell into the Three Broomsticks. When he took notice of where he was he had to cover his mouth. It was so sweet he nearly ran outside to vomit. Even as a kid he hated the place. At thirty-two he hated it even more. Suddenly he missed the Hog's Head.

While trying to not pick out his eyes with his fingers he saw — yes — he saw “Lucius fucking Malfoy with a drink at The Three fucking Broomsticks?” He scoffed and dropped his hands. “You’re not wrong. I do want a picture of this. It’s disgusting.” Rodolphus motioned at the room then at Lucius laying in the lap of luxury and raised his chin. “Yourself included, you ugly sod,” he smirked.

lucius hadn’t expected to see any of his friends at this shithole, but still, it was a pleasant surprise -- would make the experience more bearable. “come on, rod. we, too, like regular people can enjoy cheap, awful liquor. have some humility.” the malfoy teased, raising his hand to the bartender to signal them he’d like two more glasses of whisky. sure, it was bad, but eventually one could get used to the taste. “it’s not so bad. brings back memories of our hogwarts days; when i couldn’t steal some of my father’s stash and had to make do with what was available in the dorms.” lucius recalled, those years seemed like a very distant memory now, which he quickly brushed off from his mind. “only the company’s different.” he remarked, looking around the place and its usual inhabitants, unable to stop himself from making a grimace. the lestrange’s next words brought a laugh out of him. “really? druella said i’m her most handsome son in law. sorry.” the malfoy joked, though his demeanor became a bit more serious now, considering the topic he meant to bring up. “speaking of -- i’ve been meaning to talk to you about something. how’s bella?”

"is narcissa home?" it was a bold move, but lucius believed cygnus and druella were fond of him enough to let him crash family dinner so late without any major complaints -- at least, not to his face. he'd returned from his month long mission in france yesterday and still, even back home, he was so busy -- death eater business more so than his actual job. being one of voldemort's most trusted soldiers came with a price. it gave lucius very little time to spend with his wife to be, but he was serious when it came to his duties. any free time he had, the malfoy had to make sure he could give some of it to narcissa. she deserved it, lucius thought. she seemed nice, proper and hardworking yet he found it hard to truly get to know her or open up. truth to be told, the thought of becoming a husband and a father terrified him, being anything like his father and grandfather. but what did being a good husband, and eventually father look like? the malfoy quickly brushed those thoughts away when cygnus and druella gave him some privacy with their youngest daughter. "it's good to see you again." lucius said, the corners of his lips tugging upwards into a smile. his hand dug into his pocket, taking out a small box. "i got you something. it reminded me of you." inside the box was a silver necklace with a dark blue paraiba tourmaline gemstone. it was his way for apologizing for spending so much time away.

lucius malfoy wouldn't be caught dead in the three broomsticks under any circumstances, or so he thought -- turns out desperate times called for desperate measures. a month long mission in france; sure, beautiful country and all that, but how he'd missed welsh whisky. after a completed report in diagon alley, he headed straight for hogsmeade and just walked in the first pub he saw, a place well below his standards, but it would make due, just for tonight. the malfoy made a grimace as soon as the whisky touched his lips. "disgusting." he scoffed, muttering to himself and suddenly regretting his choices. nothing worse than cheap liquor but still, it felt good to be back in england. he noticed someone looking at him and locked eyes with the person. he spoke after a moment of silence. "it'll last longer if you take a picture."

best friends: people from the same social circles ( purebloods / sacred 28, wealthy, etc. ) that lucius grew up with. he's always been very picky of who he lets into his inner circle.

past flings: hedonistic in nature, lucius enjoys the finer things in life. when it comes to relationships, he was never too invested or let them progress into something more serious or vulnerable. as soon as he had his needs met or grew bored, lucius moved on. he saw no point in being committed, but things happen so he's probably had one or two actually serious relationships where he actually caught feelings as well.

new death eaters he mentors: lucius is currently living in what he'll later recall as the glory days of him being a death eater. he's currently one of voldemort's most trusted followers and is entrusted with looking over and training some of the new recruits. lucius is ruthless and does not tolerate weakness or people not taking the missions seriously / flaking out.

partner in crime: this is the person lucius will seek out when he needs to take some edge off or when he feels like doing something stupid or impulsive. these two bring out the worse in each other.

cat and mouse: someone who works in the ministry or is a part of the order and has witnessed lucius murder someone while he was carrying out a DE mission. though he wore a mask, they're 99% sure it was him, but they have no proof. they intent to prove it / or catch him in the act again and have lucius thrown in azkaban, where he belongs. he quite enjoys the thrill / the chase. an angstier version of this plot would be, the person lucius killed was their loved one/relative/etc. so it's a lot more personal and they're seeking vengeance.
