This is probably the last post I’ll be writing and it’s mainly to explain what’s going on. The staff have posted a notice that stated: “We recently learned that a third party had obtained access to a set of Tumblr user email addresses with salted and hashed passwords from early 2013”, leaving them to log out their users and demand them to change their passwords. I’m one of the many that lost their accounts that they’ve had for a long time because the email they signed up with is inaccessible. This blog used to be one for my gothic graverobber that I’ve posted about before but only had a good 20 followers or so, so the numbers I obtained with Alfie (337) was a really big thing for me and made me actually feel happy about my blog and character. Anyway, those logged in on the mobile app is their only saving grace to keeping their old accounts but it can’t do much as they cannot change emails on it and there is a lot of limitations. A warning from the staff could have been nice so I could have changed it before being locked out without a chance to change anything. I know I should have done it before, thanks, and after being on this site so long I shouldn’t have expected it to be reliable at all but tbh I didn’t think that log-ins would be snatched up like that. I haven’t been kicked off on the mobile app yet, so this is how I’m writing this. I’m over on shctgunshine and I’ll try to be transferring everything over but it won’t be easy without web access to this account. If I had any control over this, I wouldn’t have let it happen but it sucks and I had no control and I have contacted tumblr and tried to explain myself but they told me they can’t do anything about it. It’s gonna be a rough start over on my other blog so I appreciate everyone that refollowed on my new account and I appreciate the patience while I start all over again. Feel free to unfollow this blog, ofmonarch, as it will now only serve as an archive.

I'll queue the whole "on this blog now" post a few more times for the next day or so before I finally log off this account on mobile for good (since I won't be able to log back in afterwards). The sad thing is that I contacted tumblr and told them I was the owner but they're like “sorry can't confirm. can't change email/password” LIKE????? EXCUSE ME??? I'M TELLING YOU RN???? I've got a lot of work to do for Alfie's new blog, but maybe it's a good thing since this blog had a good 2k posts and likes so :/

We recently learned that a third party had obtained access to a set of Tumblr user email addresses with salted and hashed passwords from early 2013, prior to the acquisition of Tumblr by Yahoo. As soon as we became aware of this, our security team thoroughly investigated the matter. Our analysis gives us no reason to believe that this information was used to access Tumblr accounts. As a precaution, however, we will be requiring affected Tumblr users to set a new password.
