Pansy went through most of her life without really a plan for what she would do when she grew up. She knew it was expected that she marry another pureblood, preferably Sacred 28. But apart from that, she didn’t really have a plan. She was from a wealthy family, with a lot of connections, and so, there was never really a need to work. After all her daddy would fund her lifestyle until she married, and after that her husband would. But, she still had a desire to do something, she just didn’t know what
She was taught from a young age that image was everything, and she had to be the perfect girl. And so, that was what she was, to the outside anyway. She let her mother sit her down, style her how she thought best. She spoke the words they told her to, spoke to her they told her too. Inside, she supposed that she died a little more and more each time. But image is everything, and nobody can truly know how she feels
Nobody except one person. Blaise has been her best friend for as long as she can remember, and she really does not know what she would do without him. He’s been there for her when nobody else has. She likes the idea that there will always be someone she can turn too, even when she sometimes thinks that she does not deserve it
Pansy has always had a sharp tongue, and an ability to manipulate. And when she graduated Hogwarts, she took both of those abilities, and trained to be a defense lawyer. She doesn’t necessarily have a speciality, but she has got a long list of fellow purebloods that she has successfully defended
She became a mother, and it scared her like nothing else has in this world. Pansy doesn’t quite know how to love her child, but she does try her best. Most of the time she isn’t sure it is good enough. But she is determined to try, to be better than her mother. Or her memories of her mother anyway.
Creating their own faction with trusted allies made sense. She’d already been on the losing side once, technically twice if the first wizarding war was considered, and Pansy hated losing. And so she was determined to do something about that. She wouldn’t allow her side, and the way of life she believed in, to lose again. Biding her time isn’t an easy thing, Pansy isn’t a patient person. But it will be worth the wait when they come out on top.
It felt strange, and it shouldn't have. Sitting opposite her daughter should have brought her joy. After all, Priscilla was the best thing that had happened to her in this world. Well, apart from maybe Daphne. But, sitting here, it felt like she was a million miles away from Priscilla. How could this be her daughter, and yet still like a stranger. Priscilla was here though, despite everything that had gone on, and was going on, and well, that made the older woman happy.
"I'm glad you came Pris." It was the truth. Pansy wasn't sure if she'd ever been a good mother. She hadn't had a good example herself. But she had tried to not be like her mother. Even with that, she wasn't super confident on how her parenting skills had gone.
it felt like peering into a crack of his memories. looking into but never fully embracing. to step into a time when he was naïve. callous. chosen. those years he would never be able to return to. not when they lingered like a poor taste in his mouth. despite the bitterness of those times, when he was youth & full of beginning rage, draco could pluck out in the garden of weeds ━ the recollection of budding flowers. the friendships that he once held as a catalyst to be alive. to roam the dungeons of hogwarts with a cunning smirk & little regrets. one of those scattered roses was pansy parkinson. a distant memory of a boy who wanted nothing more than to be seen ━ to be coddled in her affections. even if his heart was displaced by a hidden agenda.
" i would say that it's a mistake that you haven't seen me much but that would be a lie. i don't wish to be seen by many these days, " the malfoy quipped. there was a dull smirk at his lips. a presentation. a facade to make himself seem a bit more charming than his motives were. play a part. get on the inside. it was the mission he remained under.
legs stretched closer to where he stood & draco's eyes never faltered from where she drew near. " find that ghosts are hard to forget, parkinson. besides, rumor has it that we're ━ family, now. is that right ? unless those are just tales of you & my sister in law. "
Pansy tried to not think of the past too much. Though it wrapped itself around her life so much. Pansy sometimes found herself thinking of the past, of the decisions she had made in her life. How much of that had impacted upon her life now? She wondered if she had made better decisions would her life be what it was now? Once upon a time she had dreamed about becoming Mrs Malfoy. It had almost been inevitable that it would happen, until it fell apart. It was funny, thinking about that, when looking at the man in front of her. She felt like she barely knew Draco anymore.
"How the tides turn." She murmured, a little smirk on her face. She remembered a time when they all wanted to be seen by everyone. Now it was different. Not that Pansy exactly cared. She didn't exactly trust Draco. She barely trusted anyone these days. Blaise, Daphne, and Theo were the only exceptions. But even then, she probably was only truly loyal to herself. Herself and Daphne maybe.
Talking about Daphne. The brunette just raised an eyebrow at him. "I don't know what you're talking about Draco." Her relationship, her love for Daphne was a secret. Nobody could know. Not even someone she used to adore.

pansy parkinson | draco malfoy ( @ofpansys )
" looks as if you've seen a ghost, parkinson. "
it could've been the distrust in her eyes when her fierce gaze landed on him. it could also be that draco malfoy hadn't kept in the good graces of his fellow slytherins. then again, it could also be that the skepticism was heavy within his own. an ever reflecting mirror. once an old friend but now, weary strangers ━ searching for something to align themselves again. his face was kept neutral. hands intertwined behind his back while he approached her carefully. cautious at best.
it was easier for his mask to be on when others were around. death eaters that had no prior knowledge to him other than being lucius malfoy's boy. he'd keep his head low & jaw tight. he would speak when he was spoken to & gave no further inclinations that he was to be questioned. that was simple in his younger years. it seemed increasingly difficult to keep a façade around those he once called friends.
" 'course, i could say the same for you. it's been quite a long while, " he offered, head tilting to the side in a discreet nature. as though he were waiting for the other shoe to drop.
It was still strange to her when friends used her surname. Though she wasn't sure if friends was the right word to describe Draco Malfoy. But she also, did not know what word to use instead. It was far too complicated, and their connection was decades long. She some times wondered what her life may have been like if she hadn't known Draco Malfoy. Or if he'd just been a passing peer. But they had never been destined for that. And now their lives were so closely intertwined. She could never get rid of him, even if she wanted too.
The brunette just laughed at his words. "I see so little of you lately that I wouldn't be surprised if you were a ghost." She supposed she should trust him more. He was one of them after all. But lately Pansy had been feeling that she couldn't trust even the people closest to her. It was a strange thing, especially considering she had known these people for so long.
"It has been." She murmured, stepping closer to him. It had been a long time since she had seen him. If she thought about it, that should have been suspicious. But lately, she was feeling distracted. "Thought you'd forgotten about me Malfoy."
