“What would I have to gain from lying to you?” she asked, raising an eyebrow as she looked at the woman who’d stolen her heart two millennia before. seeing her was taxing enough, as she felt her heart race despite her best efforts, but the contact, the simple hug, left her speechless. She stood stiff for just a moment, afraid to allow herself to return the gesture, but she finally conceded, wrapping her arms around the other woman. “Sorry won’t change anything.” she mused, pausing a moment before glancing at her. “But I am sorry you had to atone for the sins of another.” she added. “I’m sorry that I let my feelings cloud my judgement, Amara.”
“i don’t know, but there isn’t much i do know any more.” when the hug was finally returned amara felt the tiniest bit more at peace, even for just a moment, eventually pulling back so she could see the smaller woman’s face. qetsiyah was right, she could apologise a million times over if she wanted to, and she did want too, but it wouldn’t turn back time, it wouldn’t fix anything. “we both could’ve handled things differently.” she decided, nerves creeping back in. “but i’d like to try to move past it. i don’t think we should let the past affect our future and truth be told i could use a familiar face.”
