Robert Lloyd chats with Eugene Levy and Catherine OâHara of Schittâs Creek: Talking TV
How to make Eugene and Catherine instantly awk:
âWere you drawn to each other right away?â
Stephen meant as comedy partners, but they obvs took it another way, and it was an extra funny moment.
Watch the whole lovely interview here.
"'It was fine, Catherine. Oh come on, it was great.' He kissed her on the cheek."
Love you, David.
JOHNNY.
MY HEART.
His moment of the entire series so far, tbh.
Wow, Eugene.
And bless you Catherine, for Moiraâs perfect non-verbal reaction. Tears.
Random Schitt's Creek Finale Thoughts - No Spoilers?
First: THE SEASON IS TOO DAMN SHORT. Anything that starts is unlikely to be developed fully by the finale. So much good stuff gets left on the table and then there's a momentum issue. LONGER SEASONS PLEASE. Next: This season felt a lot like last season in many ways, despite some deliberate changes that were made. I don't know if that makes sense, but (and this may relate to the point above) ultimately, I don't feel like much happened. The finale even had the same vibe as Moira's party last year, which was probably deliberate, but also felt repetitive even though it was very sweet. I completely appreciate and savor the subtle slow cooking of character driven story, but it seems like a lot of these characters are stuck in ruts despite changing circumstances. And: Again, this is probably related to both of the above, but I don't feel like I know much more about the characters than I did last season. They are so rich and ripe, I guess I just need more of them. Same is good: The show's aesthetic remained strong. It's a beautiful confection from setting to accessories, and even when color was introduced to David and Moira's palettes, it was very much in their idiom and welcome, so well done! Extra random: WTF happened to Jocelyn this season? I will say I liked her a lot better in the last two eps, but before that it seemed like she was body snatched. Glad they came back around on that. As ever: NOT ENOUGH JOHNNY AND MOIRA. PLEASE GO DEEP WITH THESE TWO. BEGGING, AND NOT JUST FOR SELFISH REASONS. IT REALLY WOULD HELP THE SHOW TO UNDERSTAND THE PLAYMAKERS BETTER. Hooray: for all the performances this season. Per usual, all the players brought their A game, and it was lovely to see more of the townies get some key moments, though I do want the fam to stay at the heart of the show. Annie really had some time to shine this go round, and Eugene was lit af in the finale. WOW. Go Johnny. Moira also had me laughing hard and near tears more than once, so... Yeah, Catherine. Good good stuff. All in all: While a slight feeling of stagnation has me frustrated, I remain excited and hopeful for Season 3. There is so much more to tell here, and they've obviously got the infrastructure and talent both on and off camera to do so. Keep on keeping on, Schitt's Creek!
Catherine: Whatâs my favorite movie that we were in together and why, Eugene, why?
Eugene: (without hesitation) A Mighty Wind.
Catherine: (so warmly) Yeahhh.
Doesnât even have to answer the second half of the question. We know.
They both know it's A Mighty Wind, and should stop playin.
Comedic legends Eugene Levy and Catherine OâHara met in Toronto at The Second City comedy troupe in the 1970s. The duo has shared the screen in seven movies, including Christopher Guestâs mockumentaries, âWaiting for Guffman,â "A Mighty Windâ and âFor Your Consideration.â They now star in a TV series about a family that goes from riches to rags, forced to move to a town called Schittâs Creek. Levy and OâHara join âCBS This Morningâ to discuss the sitcom.
Lort, I love pre-season press jags.
âWe tried dating but it was like Mary Richards and Lou Grant.â
Ha! but!
âWeâre young, weâre making each other laugh... I think thereâs nothing sexier than laughing togetherâŚso you think âOhhhhh, we are meant to be togetherââ
HELP.

Enjoy Eugene and Catherine playing Pictionary, walking on to the SCTV theme as played by The Roots, sitting close, looking cute, and just being their always charming selves talking about their youths, Schittâs Creek and what not.

Livestream was fun-- you should still be able to watch at the link above.
Eugene talks about a possible SCTV reunion(!) as Catherine looks on. Not sure which piece of that is more compelling to watch.
