Waiting.

When I was younger and running on the track at school, I always made sure to stop and wait for the other kids or whoever was lagging behind so we could run together, even though I knew my long legs could take me much farther much faster than them. I pretended to read slowly so those who couldn’t, had a chance to catch up. When my friends bickered about being short and inferior I pretended I was short too, if my friend was sad I would pretend I was unhappy as well. I never wanted someone to be alone. I could go on and on about all the ways I have limited myself throughout the years, my whole life, by “waiting” for everyone else. And the only thing I’ve ever received in return is people thinking that they are faster than me, people finding that it is okay to walk all over me, thinking its alright to make me feel bad about myself because I let them. My mother always taught me that “Cinderella is the perfect example to mimic” but all I’ve learnt is that Cinderella can go fuck herself.
