This right here – learning, and retaining Patter songs, like this one, and like Tom Lehrer’s The Elemental Table Song are where ADHD becomes a SUPERPOWER! Because speaking as a singer who has had a song literally HAUNT her for weeks until she got all of it in the right order, (In my case, it was The Funeral Song) once that happens? Once you’ve lain awake seven nights or more mouthing all the parts you can remember, and straining for all the ones you can *almost* remember? That moment when you finally get it all right, and get all the way through it is fucking electric. And after that, you’ll probably spend another week just hitting that same dopamine button of “I FUCKING GOT THIS!” and singing it to yourself voluntarily, at which point you have to admit that it’s going to be with you for the rest of your life. I can still sing the Funeral Song on command to this day. Thank you, ADHD.
They don’t include South Africa. Or, the Republic of South Africa, if you want to be technical.
(And it’s not like we were called something else and name-swapped, like Zimbabwe used to be Rhodesia. And I mean, they include Swaziland (a small country mostly surrounded by South Africa) and Lesotho(a small country completely surrounded by South Africa). But South Africa itself? Nope.)
So yeah, that always annoyed me a bit. Does anyone know if they missed any other countries?
