Beyond devastated. Difficult to even choose words to write. Feel defeated & emotions are overwhelming my heart & mind. 01.26.20 one of the saddest & numbest days. Haven’t cried this incessantly in a while. I’m not ok but I’m strong enough to admit/understand that it’s ok to hurt & be vulnerable, it’s ok to not be ok. #KobeBryant was my childhood hero. Family & friends can attest the consistent & authentically pure admiration, love, respect I’ve had for Kobe’s greatness, accomplishments, work ethic & passion for talent & family. I try to emulate this mentality daily. I remember I was 12yrs old in 96 when Kobe made his NBA debut w/ my already loved Lakers. I was so excited I began putting up excessive amounts of posters of him in my room. Then 97, the beginning of grade 7, I’m playing on the JV basketball team. My locker & binders filled w/ Kobe. Friends didn’t get it. I’d say, shut up he’s going to be a great like MJ. Little did I know I’d still ride as hard for Kobe & my Lakers at 35. Grew up studying his talent, stats, mindset & mentality so no surprise the inspiration he’s had on my past/present/future personal & professional life. This loss has absolutely gutted me. How could it not? Kobe was living his purpose. Motivated, encouraged & inspired me to move w/ kindness & greatness. I’m a God fearing woman & know I’m not supposed to idolize but in rare form, Kobe was iconic, legendary & my hero. I refuse to question God’s work & timing, even if it’s tough to accept. Crushed but I’ll be ok. Hard to ignore the rush of emotions enabling us to feel & not everyone will understand, thing is, they don’t need to. It’s what U feel, it’s what U are inspired by, it’s what matters to U! I was taught to appreciate life & each other while we’re here, never know when it’s our last. One thing my family & I never fail to do is say, I love you to each other. Whether in person, phone or fam group texts, we keep that energy around. God bless all lives lost, families/friends, Kobe/Lakers fans, athletes & associations worldwide. We lost a great 1 & a baby girl on her way to being as great as daddy. Forever resting in paradise together. RIP #Mamba x #Mambacita, you’ll be missed. 🙏🏽🤍🕊♾ My OG post here:
