The book lowers as he hears a sound not often heard from a one obnoxious, curiously and continuously happy Takao Kazunari. A sniff. Rather, a series of sniffles that has him putting the book down hastily and giving up studying. Perhaps the inordinate number of tests as of late don’t need quite the amount of studying he’s been doing.
He’s been neglecting Takao.
Sighing heavily and pulling the idiot into a hug, he closed his eyes and dropped his chin on top of his head. "Stop making that pitiful sound. I’ll pay attention to you now."
Should he be happy? In a way, Takao was but the fact that Midorima only placed the book down because of his current attitude didn't seem to make the small bit of pleasure of knowing he made Midorima stop any less bitter.
Takao didn't want to be a terrible boyfriend, much less one that's clingy and terrible at timing. But he just-- he can't help but--
He just misses Midorima.
The hug was warm and encompassing. Takao leaned into it and hastily rubbed away the beginning of tears into Midorima's shirt. With his face mostly hidden, his words were muffled. "Sorry, Shin-chan. I know you have tests coming up. I just--"
He just couldn't help but be a little selfish, that's all.
Stupid Shin-chan!
He rather read textbooks than cuddle with me--!
[Tears.]
Sometimes his boyfriend is questionably irritating to an extent which makes him wonder just why they were together. Despite being polar opposites, however, he supposes they work in a kind of balancing act. Takao is often good at keeping him grounded by, unwantedly, informing people of his condition as inwardly instead of outwardly affectionate among other things.
Pushing at the complaining point guard with an elbow, Midorima buried his face more in his text book. It would take far more to pry him away from it. "Quite a bit longer if you continue complaining."
Any other day and Takao would just laugh it off but it's been so long (almost a week and a half) since they've managed to get some time to spend together. And now, Midorima was going to spend most of the weekend studying? How unfair.
The point guard was unnaturally silent before simply sniffling quietly, tucking his face against Midorima's warm shoulder. If they went to bed in Midorima's room, then Takao could at least demand for some cuddling to recharge his levels. At this rate, he was just going to end up falling asleep on the couch.
He sniffles again, eyes shut close and a small frown marring his expression.
"Mm--Shin-chan, how much longer are you going to study?"
Takao slouches to the side and lets his body rest against Midorima's, plaintively sulking but determined not to demand they leave just yet.

"Ah, if it isn’t Ta-chan! Midorin isn’t with you today~?"
"Shin-chan is busy buying something for tomorrow~ Why? Does Momo-chan need Shin-chan for something?"
I want to set all my books on fire. This is it. This is the end of me.
[The sound of books and paper being sent flying echoes in Takao's room.]
Of course he doesn’t remember. Perhaps that’s a reason to worry. A sharp frown tugs down Midorima’s lips as he looks over his boyfriend and wrings his hands in his lap. He hates showing that he’s this vulnerable, this worried, but he can’t help himself. He’s scared. What if Takao’s forgotten things other than how he got hurt? Shaking that thought from his mind with a soft grunt, he closed his eyes.
"Miyaji isn’t angry. No one on the team. You might say they’re all too worried about the fool who carried too much up the stairs and fell down them." Trying to make it seem like he wasn’t just as concerned was hard. He may even be failing at it, but he’s trying his hardest not to let on.
"I’m fine. Perhaps you ought to begin paying attention to your luck so yet another disaster doesn’t befall you."
"It's troublesome to get lucky items for everyday though~." He can tell that Midorima was worried and in a way, rightfully so. Even Takao is uncomfortable by the fact he is forgetting a few important details but if the nurse said he was fine, he's most likely fine. The brunette grabbed at his boyfriend's hand though, fingers immediately curling themselves until they were lacing with Midorima's own taped ones.
"Sorry. Don't cry, Shin-chan. It's just a little fall."
Broken bones and fractures heal easily so after a few days of rest, a sprain should be nothing. "I'm probably gonna be benched for practice though, huh? Guess you'll have to just wait until I can pass to you again."

The greennet frowned watching his lips move. She was so focused on his face. Her green hues looked up at him meeting his eyes.
She was trying hard to figure out what he was saying to her. To refrain from yelling she pulled out her phone typing.
Takao, I can't hear you :I
"Eh?" The words don't make sense at first because the idea of Midorima being unable to hear anything would mean she was deaf and last time Takao checked, she was perfectly fine.
"We need to get you to a hospital then! What are you waiting for, Shin-chan?!"
"You know, we should just share stories at karaoke and call it at a day." There's always gossip to share and theories to consider. Besides, Takao is always open to hearing about the olden days of middle school.
⊰♋⊱ There he was waving his hand and shit. "No! What ever it is you want it’s no!" She spoke rather loudly unable to hear him.
That was a little weird, considering how he's usually yelled at for specific things. Takao tilted his head at her and a slight frown marred his face. "Eh? That's really quick today! Are you so mad at me already, Shin-chan?"
Sticks and Stones || Kagami&Takao
okazunari …may break my bones but Shuutoku’s hawkeye is a whole ‘nother level. He’s witnessed quite a bit of his awfully joker-like personality. It almost scares him too— that the little ball of mischief is able to tame an annoying and selfish beast named Midorima the carrot. With that said, he’s never thought of what to do if ever he was put in a situation where he had to work with the hawk. Well, there was that one instance with the three-on-three, but he was too preoccupied with Aomine. Don’t even get him started with that.
“Oh, it’s you…" What was his name again…? He heard it from someone before… ah— "Bakao, right?" He murmured almost too innocently as he scratched his cheek without a care whether he got the boy’s name wrong or otherwise. But to bump into the ravenhead without a sign of Midorima around (thank the heavens), when he thought they were inseparable… Kagami took a second to scout around the beach scene, and all he could really see are a group of children playing in the sand… Unusual.
Talk about disorienting. Maybe once he got used to playing with his younger sister and her friends and he forgot about his height compared to Midorima, everyone who was just a little taller seemed to just tower. It wasn't fair but at the same time, it's oddly hilarious every time he gets a reminder of just how out of this world most of the "generation of miracles" are--even if Kagami wasn't really a part of them originally.
"That's me. Nice to see you--uh--Bakami! Where's Kuroko-san?" Two can play this game and he's the king of poker faces when he needs to be.
Shin-chan~
[He wiggles a hand in greeting.]
Lemme borrow your homework please!
With half a bread bun in his hand and the rest of the yakisoba noodles dangling close to his fingers, Takao can't imagine he's looking quite--professional in front of the most feared individual in courts.
"Aren't you supposed to be too busy to actually go out?" Oops. Mouth. Feet. Head detaching already.
The offered seat was certainly a little surprise. Usually when she’d end up somewhere standing in the corner rather awkwardly or up above in the balconies trying to keep an eye on faces that were too far to recognize quickly enough to take notes on. Sitting down onto the bleacher, Wenhe looked to Takao with emerald doe-eyes that seemed all too interested in the Hawk Eye.
Then again, considering how nice he was despite this being their first meeting, how could she not be interested in the ravenet?
"Ah! Rakuzan is not very scary, actually! Everyone is rather competitive when it comes to grades, but on a conversational level they are all rather nice~! Akashi-kyun can be scary sometimes, I must admit, but even he is quite kind in his own way~"
It seemed to be that strict didn’t particularly strike the smaller of the two high schoolers as particularly terrifying. Then again, considering she found Takao’s upperclassman to be more fearsome than the emperor himself… Her idea of scary was a tad bit more different than what most people would consider.
"Ne, ne, how about Shūtoku~? It seems to be very nice, going to school here~"
Admittedly, she had her biases when it came to a certain someone being the reason why it would be “very nice”.
Akashi? Nice? Maybe because of his choice in word structure and vocabulary but Takao had seen the way he's offered to gouge out his own eyes if Rakuzan lost the match. A captain like that sounded too strict and too--volatile and this was coming from someone who spent every training session poking at an older member who was not afraid of throwing very pointy and heavy fruits a other people.
Still, if she thought he was nice, then maybe the rest of the school wasn't that bad. If they could enjoy their lifestyle, it only meant that everyone had their own preferences.
"Shūtoku is pretty open~ Everyone can do what they want as long as they keep up their grades and stay on the path to graduation."
Though like always, exam rankings are often posted up and it's almost always a competition within their grade. It can get a little scary and the scenes he imagines makes him grimace.
"We're competitive when it comes to grades too which is funny."
The way Takao woke up was slow, and obviously pain filled. Watching him try to sit up had Midorima jolting slightly in his seat to push him back down on the bed and shake his head at him. He shouldn’t move. He could make it worse. Cautiously shoving his boyfriend back down on the bed, he furrowed his brows and frowned sharply.
What’s going on… so he doesn’t remember? Is it amnesia, or… "You fell down the stairs and sprained your ankle." He explained, folding his hands in his lap to keep from grabbing him and smothering him in his worry. "I’m here because you missed practice and I wanted to be sure that you’re… okay." He said too much.
"What?!" He didn't remember falling, much less actually spraining his ankle. The pain is no doubt evidence that the accident happen but all Takao remembered was carrying papers up to the next floor to hand it over to someone else. But the whole thing was unlucky--especially since they were going to have a practice game soon to get everyone including prospective students interested and motivated to join their team.
"Miyaji-san is going to be pissed! Did I miss classes? How long was I out?" He can't imagine serving detention on the first week. A good look at Midorima's face, however, put all thoughts on hold and finally, Takao found himself becoming silent. A hand reached out to tap against Midorima's.
"Hey Shin-chan? You--you okay?" Takao quietly laughed. "Shoulda looked closer at Oha asa today, huh?"
He barely looked bothered by the unknown raven’s taunt, unruffled as he chuckled. Kuroo liked to consider himself in the arts of sarcasm, and if the other wanted to play a game, a game would be what he got.
”It’s for the best,” he shrugged. “After all, as a gentleman such as myself, I wouldn’t want to endanger a delicate flower in the presence of these unruly beasts, yes?”
"I'm pretty sure most 'delicate flowers' are more than capable of fighting off beasts by themselves. But aren't you sweet~?" He's not at all impressed and a small bit of him had no doubt that the other male most definitely wished he had a female manager--gentleman or no gentleman.
"You're going to have a long three years--or has it already been three?"
