I had no idea what I was going to wear when I woke up this morning. Watching the weather in Oklahoma is like placing bets in Vegas. It’s basically a roll of the dice. The saying is, “If you don’t like the weather in Oklahoma, wait 5 minutes. It’ll change.”

This is the truth.

When I woke up and checked my weather kitty app, I was pleasantly, although cautiously, excited! The high is 80 with calm winds. CALM WINDS! This is a rarity. So, I put on my first dress of the season and broke out the sandals for this “special occasion.”

Enjoy the beautiful weather, if you happened to be blessed with it. Embrace your sandal feet! Show off your “fake bake” legs and give all the glory to the SUN! The seasons are warming. And life is good.

NBA and Attire

Playoffs | Round One | OKC vs MEM | 1-0 Thunder

So, what do you wear to an NBA playoff game? There’s actually a secret. It doesn't matter what you wear! As soon as you get to your seat, your obliged to adorn the XL team shirt that’s awaiting you. We’re a community, you wear the shirt. Period. Don't be the asshole in the green shirt. Ladies, roll up your sleeves, pull your shirt to your waist and tie the extra fabric in a knot behind your back. Unless you bring scissors to alter your t, but that’s way intense.

Bonus! When you get home, you can cut off the enormous sleeves (set one aside for a skirt. I kid.) and remove the neck. You now have a pretty sweet night shirt.

For the game, I wore skinny jeans: Gap; thunder shirt: my size; and white Jack Purcell converse. And the Thunder won. It was a good night.

Festival Days | Festival Ways

It's my time of year. When cold winds turn into warm breezes. Trading hot chocolate for warm beer. Driving and flying all over the mid/southwest to witness the spectacle that is our favorite bands. This is what I live for.

As a designer, I love my job. I'm allowed boundless creative freedoms. But nothing as freeing as 20,000 of your closest acquaintances singing aloud and jumping about in unison to the beat of your favorite artists' songs. This is what I love. 

The fashion and styles of festival/concert goers varies DRAMATICALLY. I prefer a comfortable day-to-night look while others prefer to don replicas of the ornate costumes the band is known for. And still others could care less how they're dressed; the "I'm here for the music" crew. I just want to be comfortable. For this show, on a lovely but cooler Texas spring evening, I wore a simple white tank, cutoff jean shorts and a large, turquoise bib necklace. I threw on a sheer grey cardigan to ward off any breezes but it was immediately tied around my waist for the duration of the event. I should have known better. 

I don't sit down at shows. I'm on my feet, singing and dancing along with the best of them. If you're a "sitter" and your'e behind me, well, sorry. 

Arcade Fire was our kick-off show to a season of concerts that will rival any music lovers list. Next weekend we'll be back in (north) Texas participating in the sure-to-be chaos of Edgefest. Beck, Bastille, The Avett Brothers, Cage the Elephant, Grouplove and so many more amazing bands will surge through my feet and exit my hands. It's uncontrollable love. It's worship. It's festival season. It's on.
