post spring break

so I went to Joe's Valley Utah for spring break! (again) It was quite awesome and while I took many many photographs, there are, as per usual very few of myself due to the men beingafraidof/toolazyto take pictures. Oh well. I got new shoes the week before the trip and am super excited about them!

pretty right? and heres a quick and dirty summary of climbs I worked on... - V3 Chexmix (flash go!) in Boysize area, these problems were rated pretty easily but it was still a super fun warm up -V4 name? (flash go again...) in Boysize area, this one I thought was even easier than Chexmix so I don't technically count it as a V4. - V4 Self Service! in New Joes, this I definitely count as my first V4 and it was freaking difficult. Totally not my strength with stretched out burly moves, but with a "techy mantle" (typical Joes) and was super motivational to finally do after working it for a bit! - V4 Michelangelo in Mansize area, this one was scary as crap, and I will be posting a video of. this one is a good, technical, highball, solid V4 - V2 The Angler in the Riverside boulders, this was a repeat but so much more fun now that I know how to use small smeary feet, and a DREAM with my new shoes. It is such an aesthetic line... - V5 Kill By Numbers, not yet sent, but my first V5 project!

I am going to post more about some of these individually since I love this destination so much and want to give climbs the credit they deserve =]

Ohhhh training.

Sometimes I get into the gym and the last thing I want to do is train, but I know it helps, so I’m going to keep on movin’. I am NOT a training expert. These are just a few things I have started doing that I can actually tell have improved my climbing.

1. Intentional Feet Cuts

Careless Torque is an impressive highball in England with no female ascent until now. This video gave me chills and had me biting my fingers when Mina was close to the top. I am so inspired by her acceptance and ultimate overcoming of her fear. I personally love highballs so I can understand that, but highball slab? That’s a whole new level. This girl takes some tall falls and the video is well-shot to boot, so check it out!!

If you travel to HCR for sport climbing, don’t miss the Ren & Stimpy wall! It’s such a blast. Some short, fun, bouldery routes over there, and it’d be sad if you skipped it!

the third sunday

Pre-bed Work out: 1. As many pull ups as I can do in good form, then force one more (on shoulder-width grips). 2. As many pull ups as I can do in good form, then force one more (on grips pointing towards me). 3. As many pull ups as I can do in good form, then force one more (on wide-set grips). 4. Cross-body abs. Hang, then pull legs up and to the left, hang then up and to the right as many as I can do. (Should engage sides of abs most) 5. Simple leg and back stretches.

the first thursday

Warm Up: -20 pushups -20 dips -20 situps -5 deadhang pullups -1 set of Frenchie pullups -leg stretches!

Climbing: -3+ and 4- warmup -worked on two 4+ problems and played around on a 5- -did a 4+ that had a slightly scary jump around 20ft up! which was awesome -AND another 4 that has a mini dyno and a super ab-intensive move in the overhung scoop

Training/Cool Down: -20 pushups -20 dips -20 situps -5 deadhang pullups -1 set of Frenchie pullups -5 second hangs on jug campus rungs -3 side to side movements on the same jug campus rungs -leg stretches

I am super glad that I was able to do those two problems today because I have been working on one for awhile, and the other's crux focused in on one area when I tend to psych myself out. Its very motivating to do something you initially think is difficult, and to make progress in one climbing session. Wahoo! now I can't climb inside for a bit since they are resetting for a competition this weekend. Happy weekend climbing!

greek yogurt and protein shenanagins

     As shown above, they come in nice stackable containers each with two servings. I eat half for breakfast almost every day. My two favorite flavors are the one's that I have shown. But there is no surprise here, I have always thought berry and dairy go better together than other fruits. This might be my favorite yogurt (yoghurt) brand so far, it doesn't get a watery substance in it, and has a creamy fresh taste even after being in the fridge for a couple days. Go try some!

the first monday

Warm up: -20 pushups -25 tricep pull-downs -5 pull ups -1 set of Frenchie pull ups -hip and leg stretches

Climbing: -a couple 3 spots to warm up -worked on a 4 and a 4+ spot

Cool down/Training: -20 finger-wrist-forearm-bicep curls on each arm -30 scrunch sit ups -20 leg rises -20 dead hang leg lifts on each leg

I had a pepperoni breggo and potato salad from Celestial for lunch, peanut butter and jelly sandwich as a snack before climbing, and a frozen pizza for dinner since it was late. I think I need to figure out what the real names of all the exercises I do are so this whole thing is easier to follow, and more consistent.  My meals were not ideal, pretty unhealthy actually (not to mention expensive) and I really need to go grocery shopping
