i deleted photoshop in the great computer purge of 2020 and so i just tried to download gimp so i can start making things and be creative and i found cute psds and then i tried to open the psds in gimp and it WOULDN’T LET ME so now im downloading photoshop again =/

          A quiet sense of peace overtakes the library as Quentin’s fingers dip and twist into soft shapes that might not resemble much to the naked eye -- but make perfect sense in the overworked sense no matter what kind of library Q finds himself in. Yes -- even in regular New York Quentin Coldwater finds himself practicing spells that he hopes no non-magic folk will pick up on. Well -- except for the one non-magic but maybe also kinda magic person who is sitting across from him. It’s nice -- Riley studying for her own exams while Q (home from Brakebills for the summer) can take what he’s learned all year and practice. He’s not....well he’s just not good enough to be able to make a dent and have all of the New York Public Library catch on.

                 “Hey -- how much longer do you need to study here? The guy with square glasses keeps looking over here and I’m wondering if I’m actually doing this spell completely correctly and it’s just....hitting a person instead of the book.”

            “Dorcas --” his voice is not quiet, but it’s smooth as he calls out from the crater of a bed that seems to be the only thing not broken in the space of the small trailer. He would apologize for breaking things -- but since Dorcas stepped foot into the little town of Beacon Hills he hasn’t been one to apologize for much. ( some say she brings out the worst, but he’s the first to remind that she just brings out the truth. ) 

                         “Dorcas what are you doing --” now his voice is quiet, clawed fingers gripping the sheets as he pushes to sit up in the bed. There’s a smirk that lingers on his lips, eyes searching hers for some semblance of emotion. He’s rare to find it, certain that today is nothing different. Still -- a boy oughta try?
