On Sunday, a random person on the train home who started chanting "GO FALCONS!" when she saw my Julio Jones jersey was kind enough to live sketch me while we were talking shop about the Super Bowl. She said she was on her way back home to Houston and was feeling down about having to give up on her "NYC dream." I told her, "With skills like these, you're gonna be fine. Plus, NYC will be here for you when you're ready to return. You can get a second chance."

As I look back at this photo, it reminds me how much of an Atlanta Falcons fan I've become this year. It's both hilarious and surprising, and made me feel more connected to my hometown than ever before. And I have my best friend and girlfriend to thank for that. While I'm slowly but surely recovering from all the panic attacks I went through watching the Dirty Birds' heartbreaking loss, I'm already hopeful for next season. You gotta believe in second chances.

Today marks 26 years since my father passed. Coincidentally, America’s first Black president leaves office on the same day. Every year, I wish I could freeze time and ask Daddy important questions of our time, like how he feels about the transfer of power and the incoming administration. Now I have no idea what my father’s political ideologies were, but as a hardworking man with African roots, something tells me he would’ve seen a bit of himself in Obama…and be feeling some kind of way about you know who.
