A ghostly visitor stuck his head out of the wall, cloudy eyes blinking at Alistair. Familiar in a different sort of way was how the ghost would put it once they took in the snake-like appearance of the figure. The wood of the wall frosts over faintly as he steps through, warming slowly as he hovers.

“You look… like someone I know. I think? Who are you?” Ollie asked, the echoey whispers of his voice curling around the pair. He blinked again, and a lost smile slowly stretched across his pale face. “It’s nice to meet you?”

“Ollie! At least, that’s what I was told,” Ollie beamed up at them, floating closer. Though appearing like he was walking, he didn’t seem to ‘bounce’ like a normal human would. He tilted his head as his foggy eyes looked her over.

“Alistair... that is kind of familiar.” The ghost agreed, hair wild and drooping. “What brings you to a place like this? Or.. hm... I guess it’s me who’s wandered. I lose track, heh...” Ollie chuckled softly while meandering away to look at the halls of the manor. “At least this one is nice. A lot of them are rotten.”

It was strange for someone to appear on the beach. Elegy was not unfamiliar of humans … but for one to arrive unexpectedly, and seemingly without harm ? How strange. Surely the rocks would have been his demise, if not a harmful creature, disregarding whatever broken ship or malicious mutiny must have landed him there.

A scaled tale of shimmering red and gold hues flicked about lazily in the water. Elegy watched from one of the rocks near the shore, lay across the surface of it with their tail dipped into the deep blue waters. They turned themself over, propping their head against their hand. Bright eyes glinted as they watched the traveler. A bright shade of gold, mixed with deep silver ; a trend of the merpeople, to have unnatural aspects of colour to their beauty.

A quiet hum was given. Not quite a song, not enough to take influence … but enough to be softly heard. “ You’re quite a ways from any ship, traveler. ” Quite a ways from known land. Quite a ways from safety.

Oliver wasn't quite sure how he got here and where he had been before the island, but the man made the best of it. He knew enough to find some water and some food, as difficult as it had been to knock fruit and nuts from high trees and wrestle water from a tiny waterfall. The few days he had spent there were rough, but the lack of knowing how he got on the island's shore was what really worried him. However, after taking a break on the beach and enjoying the last few hours of sun, a voice sung out amongst the waves and quiet bird calls. It would be more pressing than his more than spotty memories.

The castaway whipped his head over, hands pressing into the rocky sand as he got up. His feet, bare to keep from getting his shoes from getting soaked, padded softly across the sand until the owner of the voice was in front of him. Laying on a large rock, they looked utterly beautiful in the dying sunlight, their dark hair catching some of the sun's waning rays. Their eyes, though, were like golden honey caught in a silver locket— piercing and cool to the eye. The unnaturalness of it caused Oliver to pause, staying about fifteen or more paces away from the unknown person.

'...hello there!' He signed, then frowned. Remembering vaguely what he had done for those who didn't know sign well, he carefully mouthed his words as best as he could, wanting to be clear. 'i was not aware someone else was here. do we... know each other? my memory is a bit fried.'

Asterius leads Oliver out of the courtyard, and reality bends for just a moment before they're both standing in a vineyard.

Outside.

In the sun.

"Do you like it?" The Minotaur asks, not really looking at the attorney. He's a little embarrassed, hadn't thought anything through. He hopes Oliver won't run.

Oliver was dizzy after the barely-perceived jump in reality, blinking before looking up at the blue sky. He started to grin as the fresh air hit his face, and he started looking around a vineyard full of green, grapes, and little insects. The attorney looked up at Asterius with utter glee.

'yes! look at this place! i have never seen something like this before.' Oliver signed excitedly before tugging the Minotaur along. He led the way, even though he was clueless as to where the vineyard led. The forever guest looked at a cluster of grapes, looking up at Asterius.

'...i know this is not easy for you. but i greatly appreciate it. it is nice to see the sky, share it with you.' Oliver signed with a softer look, beaming. 'plus, it is nice seeing you in brighter light than the lantern and the torch light.' He chuckled gently, mostly silent as always.

In a passing moment of privacy, Harper reveals a beautiful red rose with a joking flourish and tucks it neatly into Oliver’s lapel. The gift is accompanied with a smile and a kiss to the cheek, the smallest but sweetest laugh upon their lips.

Oliver turned to face them once he adjusted his vest, going to sign something with raised brows when Harper stepped closer. His breath caught in his throat at the sight of the rose, smiling with mirth as they gently tuck it into its proper place next to his heart. He laughed without sound, relishing the softness of their lips against his face, eyes going soft once they laughed against his face. They looked so warm when they laughed, so... comforting.

'happy Valentine's day, my lily.' Oliver signed. He leaned in and pressed a kiss to their temple, tucking some hair behind their ear afterward. 'don't forget to come over tonight... i'm making your favorite— spaghetti, with some homemade garlic bread.' Oliver continued excitedly, unable to hide how much he was looking forward to their time together.

There was a time during Oliver's young life where he'd be the enactor of many pranks. Often, he would take his breaks as a chance to cause some mischief in Mark's family's manor, just to spice up his work day. His favorite would be to fashion a tripwire in front of the activity room for Mark and his friends, using some of the older maid's black yarn to blend in with the dark wood of the hallway floor.

Today was no different, and with a golden opportunity like this, he couldn't not do it again.

"Damien! Damien, can you come here? I can't lift this on my own!" Oliver called from the hallway, his face split into a grin and his red hair wild but slightly damp from the sweat of working outside during the summer. Damien came walking out, looking for Oliver as he went to cross the threshold. Whatever he was going to say was interrupted by a yelp as the young boy tripped over the wire, the two hall tables jolting from where the string had been tied to their legs and pulled taught. Oliver busted into laughter, snorting and cackling as Damien barely caught himself and stumbled to get his balance back. "Oliver!!" Came the giggling shout, and the boys started running through the hall in a chase. Damien, despite the near fall, was giggling as they ran upstairs towards Mark's room. It ended just inside on the bedroom floor, where Mark was getting ready to bring down some toys for him and Damien to play with. He was greeted by the sight of the freckle-faced red-head and the panting, raven-haired boy in a pile after a tackle gone mostly wrong.

"Wait, did you prank him again? No fair! Last time, you said you'd get me so I could watch next time!" Huffed Mark indignantly, dropping his wooden soldiers as he stamped his foot childishly, but the growing smile gave him away. Oliver gave a helpless grin of own as a reply, then he laughed when Mark joined the pile.

It's a memory that often, when life starts weighing heavy on his shoulders, Oliver remembers when he needs a smile.

Oh no! Oliver's notebook appears to be bulky and weird. It was so bulky, it looks like someone puffed it up with water.

But.... wait. Oliver's notebook is also over there and unharmed. So then what is the "notebook" sitting on the table? It appears to be... a cuddly toy version? Why would someone leave that there? (rosetintedgunman)

Oliver, at first, was a little panicked when he saw what looked like his notebook looking like it had broken the laws of physics. When he came to the realization that, no, his notebook was still laying on the table of the place he was staying in, and this was a plush version of his notebook, he grew more confused than anything.

Picking it up, he noticed it was soft, almost like the fur of a teddy bear but shorter and smoother to the touch. The attorney looked it over. Up close, it looked like a simplified version of his journal, and it only opened in half to a similar soft inside. All together, it was a huggable plush. He smiled a little.

Whoever left it for him, they'd be happy to know that he's cuddled up with it after a long day of traveling. It's a very cozy toy.

Oliver— or Oxen, or whoever he was now— breathed in shakily at the question. Not that he needed to breathe any more than he needed to shut his eyes to think; still, he did so in some attempt to keep the humanity he once again had.

"...is there anything I could say that wouldn't be so cheap? What phrase can undo the countless lives I crushed into stardust? The countless worlds that are no more?" The puppet managed to say in a low, strained voice. He hid himself in the dark of some world's alley, unsure where to go. The puppet's feet shuffled as he stared down at his leather, porcelain hands.

"All I can do is disappear, somehow, because I can't recreate those lives, or universes, or-or the multiverses." The doll slowly slid down the grimy, cold brick wall at his back and stared at the rainy sky. His eyes were glossy in the dim light of the hidden sun above him. He couldn't feel the cold anyway. "All I can say is sorry... it's nothing but a bandage over a festering wound. It's all I have."

‘hey Yancy! i’m so sorry i haven’t came by recently… traveling is a bit unreliable right now.’ Oliver signed, the phone cradled in the hollow of his shoulder. He grins. ‘how’s the jailhouse treating you?’

"Crashing Wallop Lackadaisy -" Oh no, Yancy had to resort to using the full name in a scolding voice and a wagging finger, "- I thought I told you that youse don't gotta be here every month for the visitation slot. That ain't fair on no one. Youse got a lotta living to catch up on, remember?"

Of course Oliver would remember. Not everyone was in prison because they landed in it through a weird thing. The mess was sorted out and Oliver was sent on his merry way. Which was important! Innocent people didn't belong in prison. But a question was asked, and the greaser would answer.

"Y'know. Same shit, different day. I's been looking at some of them music courses they's is running. I got this ukulele, see, but I ain't that good at playing it. I figure someone oughta know how it works, right? Can't be that hard if you asks me." He could play a few melodies by ear, but the chords were proving too tricky a challenge.

"But that ain't important right now. What has you been up to out there? Youse is looking great, though that hair of youse's needs a proper combing. I thought you knew better than to let birds nest in it." He was teasing, of course, if one went by the way he rested his free hand on the top of his head to mimic a bird's beak popping out.

'oh wonderful! ukulele is a fun little instrument! those music classes would be really good for you.' Oliver signed joyously, a smile on his face the whole time. Yancy mentioned his wild hair, his longer strands a bit wild in his field of vision now that the guy mentioned it, and he nodded his head to the side. The once attorney rolled his eyes and ran a hand through it, the freckles on his arms a bit darker than they used to be.

'it's hard to know when you'll be disappearing next; can't exactly grab a brush when you're falling through the sidewalk!' He joked back, sitting up to adjust the phone between his cheek and shoulder. 'as for living life, it has been wild. half of it you would not believe, the other half you would think i'm crazy!'

Oliver mused for a second, reaching out to play with the phone's cord for a minute. Then he replied. 'guess you can say i got up close and personal with the stars most recently. that whole adventure was a rollercoaster until I got zapped out of there. i wonder if they're still looking for where I went...'

Oliver went bright red at the kiss to his cheek, freezing in place. Somehow, he's almost the same color as his sideburns, which is impressive in and of itself.

Surprise attack kiss was super effective! However, a counter-attack kiss came their way, pressed lovingly against their temple with a breath of a laugh.

One may say whatever they wanted about prison, but it was a place that had its moments of peace and quiet. That was why Yancy liked it so much. It had its ups and downs, but it also had moments where you could step away from everything for a while. Even conversing with a new friend didn’t pop that bubble.

When Oliver moved himself and started writing, Yancy followed suit and pulled himself up into a sitting position. One knee was lifted, allowing him to use it as a perch for his head and one arm to lean on while watching the letters form. Oliver had nice handwriting, that much was clear. Plus, the language wasn’t too flowery so the greaser could follow it without much confusion. Then again, there was no need to be overly formal in conversation, right?

“Nah. No offense, but youse is a little too soft to be considered some sorta criminal. Well, unless youse was working with some sorta criminal gang and laundering the money. But you do gotta point. No one breaks in, and that in itself is a talking point if it’s brought up.” His free hand scratched the back of his neck in thought while Oliver mulled over his thoughts.

When the next words were written, Yancy nodded in understanding, though lacking the context of what Oliver actually meant. “Yeah, I get that. Hard to know what’s going on when everything’s nearly the same as the day I arrived. But if youse broke in, most is gonna assume you was looking for something, or someone, and took some pretty fucking drastic measures. Maybe it’s like, uh, youse was made to try and sneak in to reclaim some sorta contraband and it was expected youse would be fine because youse is one of them legal folks that the guards trust and whatnot?”

Oliver bit his lip, twiddling the wide pencil in his hand for a few moments. The yard had some chatter that followed the breeze, and the leaves of the tree gently shook with it. It almost felt like being back in a school yard, if not for the obviously adult voices echoing from the concrete court. He started writing again.

‘could go the corrupt attorney angle, actually. maybe there was some evidence locked up that i needed for a case, so i decided to get it the easy way rather than through the system. do any of these jailbirds hold grudges against attorneys?’ Oliver wrote before handing it to Yancy.

He looked away to watch some of the inmates play some basketball. They looked so at ease for being in prison, it was almost baffling. The group Yancy hung out with were tough but kind souls, too. Oliver didn’t really get how that kindness survived here, given the trapped feeling he had been harboring since he arrived. Surely everyone must’ve been feeling that, or at least did for a time. Given how much freedom they had, though, maybe that’s why they were so compassionate.

Maybe that’s why Yancy was so willing to help Oliver the first place.

Profession: Oliver's a District Attorney! He's pretty busy, if a lover finds him in pre-WKM, but he loves making time for those he cares about. If he's met him outside of the WKM universe, he's, uh... unemployed, due to being tossed through time and space as an unwilling time traveler. Though, if he's around for a while, he often finds gardening work or something involving documents.

Favorite kind of food: Savory things, like potato soup, is his go to! He likes homey foods. Though, if he and a lover are cooking together, he doesn't mind what is being made, as he loves spending time with his significant other. (Also, he has penchant for sour candy!)

Favorite alcoholic drink: He's not a heavy drinker. He usually stops after two glasses of red win or a classic Manhattan. Oliver does not like how sleepy and overly flirtatious he gets while more than tipsy. He does not mind his partners drinking, though, and will often be their DD to make sure they have a good, safe time!

When does he drink?: Mostly with his partner, and that is often if he's out with them for a social event or on a date. Outside of that, he doesn't drink.

Favorite trait in a partner: Genuineness. No matter the verse, Oliver values someone being honest with him and with themselves, along with cool-headedness. He has self-admitted issues with his anger, but having someone beside him that can remind him to breathe is something he would greatly appreciate.

Favorite spot for a date: Anywhere outside! Hikes, walks in the park, gardening, anything. He loves being outside and working with his hands when he can. Oliver also likes that the outdoors gives more freedom to talk and laugh with his partner.

Ideal Gift: Something heartfelt would capture his attention the most, like a card or even flowers. He's a bit of a romantic on that front, haha! As for other material gifts, he doesn't exactly speak that love language when he receives it; he's more of a physical touch and quality time person, though he appreciates it nevertheless!
