“No, I’m saying it because you’re a good person and a good friend.”
“That makes me look better, so I’ll just say thank you and keep going.”
clarygooding:
Clary shrugged. “Yeah, I guess I am,” she told him. “I mean, do I wish it were all different? Fuck yeah. I don’t really do well with change and since last year, that’s all it’s been. It’s still hard to get used to.” Clary looked from looking out at the town, back to looking at her best friend. “I guess maybe I’m scared?” She shrugged again. “However the fuck that feels. I just, I know you have to do something, and I know you can’t give up flying, that’s all you are. It’s just, when I saw you fall, everything inside me felt like,” she paused, not sure how to explain her emotions. “I just, I don’t want to see you get hurt again.”
“You and me both.” He sighed softly, following her gaze out to the buildings below them. Oliver knew it was hard for everyone else, but it was even harder for him. He’d lost everything, that day. Nearly everything. Enough that he was only just now feeling like himself again. He reached out, putting a hand on her shoulder and giving her a reassuring squeeze. “I won’t get hurt. The bludgers don’t go after the referees, and it’s basically my job to stay out of the way.”

“I can’t believe someone tasted that, and actually thought that was good enough to sell. Or the fact that there are probably thousands of people who actually spent money on it.” Blaise made another face akin to something of disgust. Blaise moved to tuck her feet under her bottom, her eyes watching as Oliver maneuvered around the small apartment living room. “Not sure, but I bet they’ll get exponentially higher if we throw in a $5 tip.”
“People think a lot of things are good enough to sell that aren’t, babe.” Oliver chuckled, shaking his head and taking a sip of his new drink as he meandered around, trying to get the taste out of his mouth. “And they sell them for a shit ton of money to boot.” He cuddled in close as he sat, shimmying against her with a laugh as he adjusted the blanket. “Five bucks? Since when is Blaise Broadmoor so cheap?”
"Check it out, check it out, check it out." Oliver practically danced up to her, pulling his new referee's shirt out of the bag he'd just picked up at the MACUSA office. "It's so legit, I might cry."

"So I met Grayson Parke this morning." He started, inspecting one of his fries before popping it into his mouth, still excited about the whole thing. "He even offered to let me fly with the team sometime."
@clarygooding
"So, are you totally regretting your decision to leave school for more school?" He asked, making a face as it came out all wrong. "Ok that's not what I mean, I hope you don't regret it - I just can't imagine still being in school."
@katedavenport
"Please tell me you make something relatively healthy that doesn't taste like cardboard." He sighed, licking his lips as he looked over the menu. "I forgot how much this whole sports diet thing sucks."

"Grant! Hey, I didn't think I'd see you here. You work here now?"
@micahhgrant
"Happy New Year, man!" Oliver grinned as he tracked him down, glancing around at all the plants. "Figured I should finally stop by and see the place, pretend I'm a halfway decent friend."
@corychesterfield
"Killian, right? Finches?" He asked, having been trying to place him for the past few minutes. Oliver grinned, extending his hand. "Sorry - Oliver Blishwick. I think I've seen you around at the pitch."

corychesterfield:
Cory smiled. “Glad to hear it. You deserve that type of happiness.”
“You’re just saying that because I almost died.” He laughed.
clarygooding:
Clary clenched her jaw tightly, trying to get rid of all the worry that she was feeling. She didn’t look at him for a second. “I…” she tried to say something that would put all her feelings into words, but she couldn’t think of anything. She let out a breath through her nose. “I’m happy for you,” she said hesitantly.
“Are you?” He whispered, not entirely sure he believed her. He knew that even when she tried to hide it, she worried about her friends, her family. And Oliver didn’t want to cause her more stress, but he had to share this with her - he’d always shared Quidditch with her. “It’s okay if you’re not, I want to know what you think.”
blaise-broadmoor:
Blaise followed Oliver’s cue, bringing the wine glass to her lips. Giving the red liquid a slight twirl, she took in a deep breath, enjoying the aromatics of the drink. Blaise could have sworn that the bottle had her birth year listed as its vintage. She took a small sip, testing the waters, per se, of the wine before making a face of her own in Oliver’s direction. “Oh my God, this is terrible,” She managed, laughing as she set the glass down on the table in front of the couch. “Can we please watch some cheesy, Christmas films?”
Oli couldn’t help the boisterous laughter that escaped him at her reaction. “Yeah, it’s not great.” He agreed, putting his glass down next to hers and summoning a bottle of rum he’d left there a few weeks ago with two fresh glasses. “Of course, babe. Your wish is my command.” He grinned back at her as he got the remote, finding her favorite channel and grabbing the blanket off the armrest, wrapping them both up in it like a cocoon. “What are the chances that the delivery guy will let himself in when he gets here?”
corychesterfield:
“I…thanks,” said Cory, surprised and touched by the offer. “Friends sounds best.”
“Consider it done.” Oliver nodded, silently ticking off on his fingers as he thought about who to invite. Them two, obviously, Clary, Silas... “Do you want me to ask that girl to come? The redhead, you know - the one you’re friends with.”
corychesterfield:
“How are things with you two?”
“Great, she’s - she’s perfect.” Oliver grinned, unable to contain his happiness. “I mean I’ve only been waiting, what? Seven years for her?”
oliverblishwick:
Oliver laughed as she agreed, unable to voice just how adorable he found her. He traced small circles into her arm as they sat, in awe not for the first time at just how perfectly she fit against him - like it was meant to be. Which, in his eyes, it was. “I’m thinking we’re about to find out.” He replied easily, before pulling his wand from his pocket and summoning two glasses.
Whilst Oliver summoned drinking classes, Blaise used her own wand to motion for the bottle of wine that the Hammers had sent over with their official welcoming kit, most of which included unnecessary snacks, gift certificates, and a t-shirt commemorating her addition to the team. “I don’t know if l’m adventurous enough to try, honestly,” Blaise admitted, using a charm to remove the cork. “Maybe if we have any left over.”
"Maybe you're not, but I am." He laughed, pocketing his phone as he finished ordering and leaning forward as she uncorked the wine and pouring them two glasses. He sniffed his own as he handed her the other glass, making a face. Wine wasn't his favorite, but they were celebrating, and if she liked it, then for tonight at least, he did too. Sitting back and settling back in beside her, he kissed her temple with a content sigh. "So, what are we watching?"
oliverblishwick:
“I mean, nothing is wrong with it, but…” He took a deep breath, a small smile creeping over his features before he spilled the news. He’d wanted to tell her before, when she’d first shown up, but she was so distraught. He wasn’t even sure now was the right time, but he couldn’t keep it to himself anymore. “I found a job - they’ve offered me an assistant referee job.”
“That, that involves a lot of flying and going fast, and,” she was at loss for words. It wasn’t that she was happy, it was just, not how she pictured everything going, that was hard for her to comprehend, that and the fear of him getting hurt again. For a moment she was lost in her own train of thoughts, her mind instantly going to the memory of watching her best friend crash to the ground, the sight of the bludger hitting him. “I don’t, Ollie, are you ready for that?”
"Not as fast as you'd think." He countered, knowing she wasn't entirely pleased with his news. His stomach clenched at the thought, although he couldn't blame her. It was different for him - just as horrible a memory, but he hadn't watched it happen. He could only imagine what that had been like. Oliver had just woken up a few days later and been told. But for her - she might never be able to unsee it. He knew that. But he needed her to be on board for this. "Yeah, I am, Clar. I know it's dangerous, but I can't - I can't not fly. And I wouldn't risk it if I wasn't ready. It's not worth losing entirely." He glanced over at her, pursing his lips. "This is a good thing."
