Okay, I just started rping as Oliver. Do you have any tips or basic things that you think is a key player in his character. Also do you know any Connors that are new? I'm just hoping to find someone else in the same boat
hi there nonnie! so to start - i have been on semi-hiatus/hiatus for a while, which means a lot of the fresh crop of connors are new to me but not necessarily completely new to the community. i’ll go ahead and list some of the ones i’ve seen though [ and i recommend you check out the coliver rp, connor walsh rp, indie htgawm, htgawm rp, etc tags if you haven’t yet! ] here are some of the connors that are new to me! @selfabsorbedprettyboy - @twcnk - @connorwalshisgr8 i’m not exactly sure how new they are to the community or to playing connor, but those are the ones i can think of at the moment that i didn’t see when i first started! as far as tips and basic key points in oliver’s character, that’s a harder one to answer. everyone interprets characters differently so it’s up to you and your muse for the character to determine how you want to play them. your version of oliver is your version, and what you feel or think he might do is just that. some people will be into your version, some people won’t, and that’s 100% okay! that’s what makes indie role play so great. for me, personally, oliver in the most basic terms i can provide (please bare in mind that people are multi-faceted and using a few key terms to build the entirety of your character probably isn’t going to make for a very good dynamic (these are just to kind of help guide) - i’m sure you already know this but just as a reminder or in case you don’t!) is a shy person who’s had a lot happen in his past that he just doesn’t discuss or make excuses for. he seems like someone who has resolved himself to gaining more of a backbone and wants to let less people walk all over him. he’s exceptionally kind, and positive, but when something gets him down he goes down kind of hard. he’s not the type to burden someone with his problems. he’s also [ trying to no longer be ] the type to let others take advantage of his kindness and willingness to help - but he’s still pretty easily persuaded and still has moments where he gets that weakness played upon. so i think a few key points of his character are his optimism, romantic mindset, endurance, patience, resolve, and kindness. he’s definitely not a ‘weak’ character and he’s open to growing and changing and becoming a better version of himself.that being said someone could get totally different vibes from oliver. or simply want to play him differently. you don’t have to play him the same way that i do, or how anyone else does. yes he is an established character so branching out could be considered ‘out of character’ if you go too far - but hey, maybe you like playing him that way and that’s okay. someone is bound to enjoy it with you! so please work hard to settle into your own oliver muse! i’m sure people will love him, and playing the character how you want to play him will ultimately make you happiest. and i think the best tip i can give in general is this one: don’t let follower count determine your happiness especially when it comes to role play. try not to feel offended if someone chooses not to rp with your oliver. it’s not a reflection of you as a person, or of your muse. people have different needs and wants and opinions. as long as you’re enjoying yourself and playing him how you want - then you’re doing it right! c: also – if you have any other questions or just need a friendly face to chat with i am around and happy to talk! i hope this was at least a little helpful. sorry it got so rambling! it’s always exciting to me to see new ollies. and how awesome is it that we’re getting so much more of him in this season!?!?! ah!!!
