Sweat dripped down the nape of his neck, adding to the dampness that already resided on the back of his shirt. Running without teleporting was difficult sometimes, his emotions often getting the best of him, his desire to flee taking over even subconcously. It was a work in progress, seperating the sport from the power but he felt it was necessary. Avery contained too much energy, a drive that vibrated through his muscle, demanding him to pay attention. He use to use sports but those were in short supply here and training wasnât quite the same. He found it more frustrating than anything else.
He was getting better at it, running without finding himself other places. It was a small victory, his pace slowing as he pushed his bangs out of his face, strands lingering behind, too damp to seperate from the skin there.Â
He had noticed the other boy from a while back, his pace much slower than Averyâs but the mumbling hadnât set it until Avery himself slowed to a simmilar pace, his breaths heavy and uneaven. Oliverâs mumbling was barely cohereant over the sound of his heaving chest.Â
âThe library?â His own words seemed muffled by his struggle for air. He squinted through the sun, his hands finding his knees as he stopped to look up at the boy. âIf thatâs what youâre looking for youâre way off.â
Oliver stood on the dirty sidewalk frustrated that he couldnât find the store. He really didnât like being here in this strange town where he knew no one. He looked around confused at the random street names and houses that lined the streets. A voice came through interrupting his thoughts âIf thatâs what youâre looking for youâre way off.â Oliver looked over to the source of the voice. There was a blonde boy standing with his hands on his knees catching his breath, sweat dripping down his face. Oliver didnât recognize the boy. He stood there confused wondering if he had heard him mumbling earlier. Oliver just wanted to find the store and was growing more frustrated that he couldnât find anything in this town.Â
He thought back to the town he grew up in and how easy it was to find places. He missed his old life as weird as that was. He knew his life before was awful since before he could remember. He only knew the life of being bounced around like a tennis ball from home to home never able to settle down. Oliver knew his life was no cake walk but at least he knew where he was before and wasnât being guarded by the government. He didnât trust this place or these government officials who constantly reassured him with the fake scripted dialogue that was given to them by there higher ups.Â
âYou think you can direct me in the correct direction?â he said in a bit of a frustrated snarky way. Oliver was tired of walking around all day and extremely famished having not eaten since hours prior. He just wanted to find the store and go home. He just wanted to turn into a bird and fly away but hell if he knew how to do that, he couldnât control his power. He didnât even understand what his power meant for him. Â
