 He is one of the Twelve Olympians, and the son of Zeus and Hera. In Greek literature, he often represents the physical or violent and untamed aspect of war, in contrast to the armored Athena, whose functions as a goddess of intelligence include military strategy and generalship.

The Greeks were ambivalent toward Ares: although he embodied the physical valor necessary for success in war, he was a dangerous force, “overwhelming, insatiable in battle, destructive, and man-slaughtering.” His sons Fear (Phobos) and Terror (Deimos) and his lover, or sister, Discord (Enyo) accompanied him on his war chariot. In the Iliad, his father Zeus tells him that he is the god most hateful to him. An association with Ares endows places and objects with a savage, dangerous, or militarized quality. His value as a war god is placed in doubt: during the Trojan War, Ares was on the losing side, while Athena, often depicted in Greek art as holding Nike (Victory) in her hand, favored the triumphant Greeks.

Ares plays a relatively limited role in Greek mythology as represented in literary narratives, though his numerous love affairs and abundant offspring are often alluded to. When Ares does appear in myths, he typically faces humiliation. He is well known as the lover of Aphrodite, the goddess of love, who was married to Hephaestus, god of craftsmanship. The most famous story related to Ares and Aphrodite shows them exposed to ridicule through the wronged husband’s clever device.

Now, this fellow is just a twisted bastard. That’s all I can really say. When peace is offered, he goes for the alternative if he can, just to start chaos because it amuses him. If you want a fight, you go to him, because he knows where it all is. Want weapons? He has walls covered with them. He’s the war man, the one who helps with pretty much any fire fight about to happen. He’s also the man that Zachery Williams goes to if he wants some information out of some poor fish. Arlo Shaw is a dark man, and he really knows how to get anything out of anyone’s mouth.

However, he’s not exactly favored by Zachery, and it irks him to no end. Instead, Zachery’s wife has taken a major shining to him. No, not in the way that would make a married man suspicious, at least we hope not, but in this odd maternal way almost. Nobody questions it though, otherwise you just might get a spiked heel up your hind quarters thanks to Mrs. Williams. 

Now, Arlo is married to a lovely specimen of a woman. Just don’t let him hear you say anything about her, or he’ll cut out your tongue where you stand. Aaliyah Shaw is a dancer, and not just any dancer, but… you know, one of those. She moves like heaven on earth, honestly. He absolutely dotes on her, loves the woman to bits, or so he says. Lots of people just think she’s a trophy wife to him… But then again, there’s a lot more to Arlo than people think. Not to mention he’s been getting along quite well with the little sweetheart that hangs around them, ya’ know, the Titans. Elise Hastings, I believe her name is. Real sweet the girl, and also real young and naive. Zachery doesn’t like what Alro’s been doing around her, but it’s not stopping his little misadventures to visit her. 

Sadly, all evidence leads to the fact that Arlo is a little bit of a rule breaker. He has these two boys, twins really (though some say they look nothing like each other), who are more like bloody dogs. They’re rather dispised by any who cross him, and Zachery even mentioned kicking them out of the city because of their rather ‘horrid ways of dealing with things’, but Arlo keeps them. He sets them loose on anyone he thinks deserves that sorta torment… Let’s just say, those O’Connell boys are demons compared to Arlo, and leave it at that. If he sets them on you, you’ll know for sure death is coming.

HISTORY:

Ares is the son of Zeus and Hera, God of War. He was a rather volatile man, and had a hard time showing love for anyone other than his mother and his love, Aphrodite. It wasn’t until after Aphrodite’s wife, Hephaestus, found out about them did they actually let their relationship be truly known and had children of their own. He was one of the few that helped Zeus throw the Titans into Tartarus, but it still never gave him the credit he deserved from his father. As all know, Zeus has no problem showing whom he favors, and Ares was never one of them.

Though he does care for them, he never once showed his twins, Phobos and Deimos, the love of a real father. Instead, he treated them like a weapon at his disposal, always sending them out to wars like hell hounds. It led to Deimos eventually losing his mind, and nearly killing his father at one point, had it not been for Phobos stopping him. 

Ares and Aphrodite had other children named Eros, Anteros, and Harmonia. There are more to be named. 

Ares does love Aphrodite, loved her more than war itself. Arlo, however, may have other things on his mind. 

He’s been known to do things behind Zachery’s back. Sometimes Zachery finds out, sometimes he doesn’t. If it wasn’t for Hadie, he probably would’ve been tossed out of the city by now.

Arlo happens to be friends with Hektor, oddly enough, in this life time. However, things have been tense with each other since Arlo found out that Aaliyah has been spending time with him.
