Last book read: fried rice by Erica Eng! The book has watercolour illustrations and paints a pretty neat view of a Malaysian Chinese person's life. As much as I appreciated that, I was not invested in the plot. It was more fun to point out the small details about the main character, Min's life. Quite ironic now that I think about it because she does think that life in Malaysia is boring HAHAHA

Last TV series: The Owl House! Just wrapped up season 1. Boy am I excited to delve into season 2. Anyway, it's been about 5-6 years since I watched this show? With a fresh lens I can now say that. I am rooting for Amity, GO GET YOUR LUMITY FANTASY GIRLLL!! IT'S SO FUN TO WATCH HER STUMBLE AND CRUSH ON LUZ!! I'm really glad I can appreciate this more now that I've experienced loving someone irl...

Last film: Uhh I forgot. Weathering With You? It was fine. My friend group noted how the film was a 'living corporate advertisement (e.g. McDonalds sign)' and that the license plates shown in the film were inaccurate.

Last song: The Stranger by Billy Joel! Was listening to this in a car ride with my mum. Been wanting to listen to more of his discography... I might like his lyricism?

Last game: Alto's Adventure/Odyssey — surprisingly, not Geometry Dash. I play it every time I get bored and I've been trying to rush through the goals so I can unlock Izel in both games. I will unlock all characters soon, just you wait... I've also been trying to play as Paz more! I've not utilised him in the past so challenging myself to that was fun!

Coffee or Tea? — It depends on what kind, but I'll go for tea. My meals consist of milk tea and Chinese tea. I haven't had a cup of coffee in months.

Sweet or Salty? — Hard choice. I don't have much preference for food. Salty maybe? I am reminded of the soup stock I like. Too much and I get a headache though...

Working on: Trying to FORCE MYSELF TO SLEEP RIGHT THIS INSTANT— anyway uh I've been trying to deep clean my room, and I've been wanting to draw again. Open up commissions maybe? It'd be nice to have a side income thing now that I've graduated from secondary school.

also… are you SURE? like, we’re still finding out so much about animals. Wolverines fathers, who we thought were not involved in caring for kits, turn out to travel around and collect all their kits from multiple mothers and take the whole group out on camping trips. Some spiders have tiny frog pets (!) or group up to communally raise their young. Wild sharks, crocodiles, and snakes have formed strong, documented relationships with people. 

this man Gilberto (Chito) Shedden nursed this crocodile back to health after it was shot in the eye, and they were best friends for the rest of the crocodile’s life.

this python came in out of the wild as a baby snake and curled up next to the family’s infant, Oun Sam­bat (or Oeun Sambat?) and they were inseparable for 12 years

Cristina Zenato removes hooks from sharks and they let her stick her hand down their throat to do it and they even bring other sharks who need help to see her.

It’s a relationship that goes beyond a single helpful interaction. For example one of the sharks that would show up when she first started swimming with them was a shark she called Foggy Eye who really didn’t like to be touched. One day, Foggy Eye showed up with a hook in her mouth that Cristina Zenato removed, and ever after, Foggy Eye cuddles when she visits, putting her head in Cristina’s lap and enjoying some petting

 We don’t know SO much. Some wolf spiders will adopt unrelated orphaned spiderlings and raise them. We recently discovered that the ant-mimicking jumping spider (below) produces “milk” and suckles its young until they are nearly fully grown.

SO. Don’t assume we know all about what creatures do or feel or whether or not they form social connections or bond with others.

Except that I watched with my own fucking eyes a giant Northwest Pacific Octopus who my friend social for an aquariums interact. He hadn’t seen her in a year. He reacted to meeting us and to getting treats? But all he wanted to do was see her, touch her, show her his enrichment items. After a year he recognized her and the response was “YOUR BACK AUNTIE YOURE BACK I MISSED YOU LOOK WHAT I WAS DOING WHAT DO YOU THINK BUT YOURE BACK hi nice to meet your friends YOURE BACK.”

Big shout out to the coalition of Catholic nuns who just told the US bishops to stop being transphobic.

“As members of the body of Christ, we cannot be whole without the full inclusion of transgender, nonbinary, and gender-expansive individuals,” the letter reads. It goes on to argue that “we will remain oppressors until we — as vowed Catholic religious — acknowledge the existence of LGBTQ+ people in our own congregations. We seek to cultivate a faith community where all, especially our transgender, nonbinary, and gender-expansive siblings, experience a deep belonging.”

The letter also states transgender people are “experiencing harm and erasure” in various ways, listing daily discrimination, a groundswell of state-level legislation aimed at LGBTQ rights and “harmful rhetoric from some Christian institutions and their leaders, including the Catholic Church.”

I hope this information gets around as much as the post I made about cold weather dressing - this is just as important, just in the other direction.

I was guilty of not having enough carriers for all of my animals - I’ve since rectified that.

I also ordered respirators today.  They aren’t that expensive!  You can get them on the Evil Site of Evil for ~20 and up.  Make sure they either come with the filter pads, or you get some.  It’s not always standard.
