Damn her expressive voice and face. “No, Sir,” She said softly and took a step back instinctively. She couldn’t break his his gaze although she really wanted to. He was a little like a rabid dog and if she looked away she was sure he would attack. “I’m sorry, sir.”

“Good.” Nate answered with a nod. “I hope your time spent with me made you realise that being good for your Alphas is a better course of action.”

Aspen bit her bottom lip to keep herself from saying anything rude about her time spent with Nate Ferrick. “Yes, sir,” She responded. “I think it did.” But there was a hint of anger to her words. He’d taken away her confidence and left her scared and she resented that fear.

“Wait what? What insult? No insult, you’re fine,” Nolan assured her quickly, “It’s ok, I promise, I agree with you, I am a lucky dog,” he said with a small, reassuring smile, “I um.. you know you still don’t have to call me ‘sir’,,” he pointed out gently, reaching out cautiously for her in the hopes of giving some sort of comfort to her , holding her hand, hugging her, anything, he just wanted to soothe her

Aspen calmed down when she realized that Nolan wasn’t offended or upset. “Thank you, s- erm, Nolan.” As he reached for her she sank into his arms and sighed softly, feeling safe for a moment. “Thank you.”

“That’s better.” Nate replied as he heard the words coming from the little vampire’s mouth. “You’re a good girl when you wish to be, Aspen. Tell me, have you been a good girl for any of the other Alphas?”

Aspen bit her bottom lip at his question. “Yes sir. I was rented twice and checked out once and I tried to be a... a good girl for the Alpha.” She looked up to gage his response but dropped her gaze again.

“Yeah, she brings me treats and cooks too, I’m really terrible when it comes to cooking so Qhuinn takes over luckily,” he said with a smile, “I’m addicted to the cheesecake bites they have there honestly, I wonder if they have any of those with blood in them…” this was more a rhetorical question than anything, just Nolan wondering out loud, but he often lacked the filter to keep it to himself, “Fingers crossed, you never know ofcourse,”

“you lucky dog, you,” Aspen said teasingly and then gasped at her own faux pas. Most Alphas would have beaten her senseless for such improper behavior. She flinched away from Nolan expecting at least a slap or worse. “I’m sorry sir, I didn’t mean any insult.”

“No bother at all, my roommate works there,” he replied wih a soft smile, it’d be neat to see Qhuinn there if she happened to be on shift and out front, “They have the best food, can’t attest for the vampire portions but I could die of a sugar coma and not even care,” he teased lightly, giving her a sympathetic look, “I’m sorry to hear that, maybe your dad will find you someday and get you out of this hell,”

Aspen got excited at the thought of finally sitting down at Bites. As a vampire she could eat regular food without any problem and it still tasted good. But she was excited to try some of this blood-infused food and beverages. She’d heard good things about Bites. “Really, your roommate works at Bites. Oh my god, does he totally bring you yummy treats every day?” Aspen smiled. “thanks, I hope so too.” Although she doubted it. It had been months and no word.

Alistair had come down looking for a new treat. It had been some time, since he had come down so he figured , he might as well. That was when he spotted the young vampire. “Very much. I see you’re still sassy.”

Aspen sighed softly as she heard Alistair’s words. There was something inside of her that wanted to please the older, stronger vampire. “Yes, I suppose I do. My sass is all I have left.”

Aspen scuffed before she could be stop herself. “I’ve never been called boring.”

“You had seemed to have forgotten that I dislike staring, Aspen.” The male spoke, having seen the way that her eyes were on him before she had dropped her gaze down once again. “But at least you remembered your manners.”

Aspen once again gulped hard at his words. “I’m sorry, sir. I didn’t mean to stare at you.” The dark ominous look on his face had her terrified of him. She remembered all too well his painful punishments.

“You’re welcome,” he said a bit shyly, “Is there anywhere you’d like to go specifically? I could take you for a cup of coffee or food or something, or to a library or… really anything you want,” he offered with a small shrug, he didn’t really have anything in mind, he just wanted to get away from the store for a little bit, “So um.. have you been in London for long?”

“If it’s not too much of a bother, I’d love to go to Bites. I’ve never been but I’ve heard they have really yummy vampire coffee drinks and desserts.” She looked up at him hopefully. She hated having to rely on the generosity of others. She bit her bottom lip at his next question. “Since right before the uprising. Shitty time to travel to London. I don’t even know what’s become of my family. Although I’m sure my dad is an alpha. He’s probably still running New York like a king.”

Aspen smiled at Nolan and accepted the daylight ring. She'd realized that a lot of alphas carried around a daylight ring in case they wanted to take out a vampire omega and she was grateful. She still had nightmares of the searing pain and the blistering effect of the sun on her vampire skin. "Thank you, sir- I mean Nolan." She's never been he checked out like this just for the day. In addition to Nate there were just two others who had taken her out for the week. But a nice day out was a pleasant surprise.

Nate slipped his shirt back on over his head as he left the cell that he had been in, having spent a while in there with a slave that had ben talking back to him in a way he didn’t like, when he caught somene’s eyes. “What?”

Aspen gulped as Nate’s eyes turned to her. She remembered the week they had spent together. “Nothing, sir,” She lowered her eyes, not wanting to incur his wrath.

“O-Oh um… you really don’t have to call me ‘sir’, really, please um… just.. just call me Nolan ok?” he said quietly, opening the cell door for her, “May I ask your name too?”

Aspen gave him a small hesitant smile. She got up off of the cot and walked over to the cell door that was now open. “My name’s Aspen. Do you have a daylight ring for me to wear? I’m a vampire.”
