My daughter LOVED The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword on Wii, so one time I took the time to build this Zelda-inspired LEGO scene for her. Our hero arrives at the cave entrance. Inside there's lava, a narrow stone bridge and a treasure chest. Before s/he can get to the chest there's a lava tiger who asks some tough riddles... or something.

Last saturday I was at Turku Comic Book Store putting up a small exhibition of original artwork for Linnavainio 2. Sadly I have no pictures from the evening. I didn't know anybody from Turku, so (aside from Mikael) everybody was new to me. Luckily this was the nicest set of new people I've probably ever met! Thanks!

Recently I learned that the biggest small finnish comic publisher (after Musta Ritari of course) Huuda Huuda called it quits. In the picture there's me posing with two Huuda Huuda books, which are brilliant and not even the best in their catalog. There's an interesting read about publishing alternative comics in the current finnish climate. The last Helsinki comics festival gave me "The End of Comics in Finland" -feeling, with zero young people in sight and every other visitor not even mildly interested in a new finnish comic book (aimed for young readers). It's interesting to see how Tampere Kuplii comic festival goes this March. Last year the hallway was packed with cosplayers but the actual publisher room was semi-deserted.

The Helsinki Comics Festival 2016 happened last weekend. I was there with Musta Ritari and my fresh-from-the-print comic book Linnavainio 2! The place was half-empty! I might have seen just one teenager there... No cosplayers around. Everybody was at Tampere, I guess (at Tracon 2016). It was nice to finally talk to Kristian Huitula - the first "real" comic book artist I met briefly at Joensuu when I was probably 12 years old (Mr. Huitula said it might have been -99). Juho Sihvonen was as great as I remembered - sorry Juho that I was so tired from work that I just phased out a couple of times. Sadly I forgot to check out if Laura Heikkala was there and maybe with some new work. I like her style so much and wish she would make a book sometime. We played Shadowrun Crossfire with friends late saturday night and also the next morning, and (while difficult) I find it very enjoyable in a good company.
