@isabellaamente To be really honest with you I never read poetry. I’m not really sure why. Maybe because there are so many poems about falling in love with someone and I’ve never experienced that. Maybe because I don’t think my own language sounds beautiful (dutch). I’m probably not the person who wants your book the most. I do want to tell you that I’m super proud of you. I saw some people on twitter posting pics of some of your poems and I thought they were really beautiful. I am curious to read more of your work. I Love you Iz!

If we lived in another universe my dad would want me, and I wouldn’t feel the need to push people away. In another universe you’d have your hands intertwined in between my hair and I wouldn’t be afraid to pick up the phone and call first. But this isn’t another universe because my dad never sends me a card when it’s my birthday, and despite what you said I still made you leave. Your hands ended up between a lot of different skirts, but I still set up my voicemail, just in case you wanted to call. And I know this isn’t another universe, but if it were I wouldn’t have to wish on dandelions that we still loved each other, we just would.

But the idea is the same, to drown themselves in something, in anything. To push away everything for a moment, just one small moment. I remember at first, I was terrified to talk to you everyday. I remember I used to be scared to kiss you, to hug you, to even talk to you. And it was all because I was so frightened of messing it all up, of messing us up. I didn’t want to say the wrong thing, or do the wrong thing, so I did nothing and hoped for the best. As time went on, my confidence lifted up and I came to the realisation that you were in love with me, no matter what I said or did. So I began kissing you without notice, grabbing on and hugging you when I felt like it, talking so much that you had to tell me to shut up. And that’s when I fell for you I suppose, I showed you parts of me that nobody else has seen because I’ve always backed off, but you, you loved me for them. And I suppose I gave off too much because everything got too much for you and you left. Now I’m terrified to even leave my bed because I don’t want to lose somebody like you ever again.
