Sorry but I need to rant about this real quick cause I’m genuinely so pissed

Journalists need to stop airing out fan works.

I'm sorry, but it's so fucking weird. Like, first it was that article about that show The Pitt that had an article made by The Cut, and now it's that show Heated Rivalry that had an article made by New York Magazine where they had fanfics from both shows posted in articles, and like, I haven't watched either one of those shows, but it's so weird!!! Like it's such an invasion of privacy!!!

These creators made these works with the intent that those part of those fandoms have access to this content, and to see big-name companies posting and airing it out and now having it revealed to an audience that the creator did not know about is genuinely so fucked up.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I know that some writers who made fanfics took down their accounts entirely because they had their works linked in an article like this and started getting harassed by people who didn't like what they wrote, and that's so messed up.

Like, these journalists need to understand they are not part of fandom, and so they don't understand fandom etiquette, and that one of the rules of fandom etiquette is you don't go blasting shit like that because 1) The author/creator didn't consent. 2) The person who is the subject of this fan work is now aware of this, and now you maybe just made them uncomfortable because now they know this shit is out there and they can't do anything about it, and 3) it's just embarrassing because no one writes fanfic and is like, "Oh man, I hope the person I am writing this shit about reads it." LIKE NO!

And it's not just fanfics, but I remember when this actress, McKenna Grace, who is going to be in the new Hunger Games movie, had it aired out by this interviewer that she made fanwork of Josh Hutcherson/Peeta, who is quite literally HER COWORKER. Not just that, the interviewer TOLD JOSH before they even interviewed McKenna, so they didn't even get her fucking permission!

Like, I'm sorry, but y'all suck at your job because every interview nowadays and a lot of articles for things like movies are just so (dare I say) tiktokified that they're just trying to get clips and viral moments that they're not even doing a good job!

It's so invasive and so disrespectful, and I need these journalists to actually think because they are causing so much damage to fandom as a whole, especially in a time where shit is getting banned.

I don’t really articulate myself well, so apologies for that, but I’ve been thinking, and maybe L isn’t as terrible in regard to exclusivity of his skills.

We know in the manga/anime that the agencies and even L himself say that he only takes on cases that interest him; otherwise, you can “forget about it,” which honestly just makes him sound like a dick, BUT then I remembered that L isn’t the only title he does detective work under.

He also is Eraldo Coil and Deneuve and maybe even a bunch more “lesser known” detectives that we don’t know about, which had me thinking, what if L as “L” is picky with his cases as to basically keep it that he only gets the most prioritized cases that he knows for a fact no one else but him can do while also doing other “boring” cases under his other titles? Idk, just a thought I had. Feel free to do what you want with it!

Not gonna tag this cause like I don’t see the point but

Honestly have kinda been turned off from the arcane fandom for a bit now and like while I still love the show I feel like my love for the show is exclusive to season 1 and the fandom pre season 2

Idk ever since season 2 has come out there’s been a major shift in the fandom space and the show itself that is just negative and it’s been really upsetting to see and like it’s to the point where I don’t even feel like interacting with anything related to the series

From the racism to the sexism and ableism and the nasty stuff that’s been happening it’s like not fun to be a part of (especially considering what’s going on the world it’s just even worse)

I don’t think I’ll really post much about arcane anymore (might change though idk) cause it’s just genuinely not enjoyable

Idk if your still into the witch boy but I just got into the klarion train (I'm REALLY late tho😭) after rewatching young justice last month, was originally Robin simp but klarion wrangled me in when he first appear this diva istg (currently on s2 ✨ shame there isn't much of klarion) but I was wondering on what happened to silverdecepticon and dolly since I really wanna read more x reader Fanfic of him but it's like those two disappeared without a trace?

Yes I am still very much in to Klarion I just don’t make many posts any more because 1) no motivation and 2) there isn’t much content to work off so the spark is tiny but worry not because I randomly get the motivation to make like 20 posts in a row 🙂‍↕️

And to answer your question from what I remember Dolly/Silverdecepticon93 (same person just different blogs) just wasn’t feeling it anymore and decided to stop writing! Literally did not even know they deleted their blogs until I saw this ask since I thought they had just abandoned it but yeah that’s basically what I remember (this was like 2-3 years ago so memory is a little fuzzy) 😘

Shoutout to this tweet, that perfectly articulates my thoughts on Jay/Vik in the fandom in relation to Meljay (also to CaitVi).

I really liked the diversity in the kinds of relationships Arcane portrays, especially because they value the ones centering on women. For me a central theme of the show is that love exists in so many forms and manifests in so many ways.

And so, constantly emphasizing that this one relationship between two men is supposedly a thousand more times more special than any other bond on the show at the expense of other, well written and underrepresented relationships, is disheartening to me.

(Yes of course I know it’s not all shippers but that’s not the point here.)

Another thing I want to add is that the story has always been about SISTERS (two sisters and two sister cities) and that bond that Jinx and Vi have that literally cannot be replaced by any other person. Their relationship is literally the strongest thing in all of Arcane because they were both always yearning to have their sister back! Vi was a teenager in prison who was being abused and tormented daily and yet, all she thought about was her sister and how she never gave up on her (in the Council Archives/ Warden’s right ups, all the guards thought Vi was a drug addict, because when she would be beaten up, she’d call out to “powder”) and how no matter how hard Jinx tried, she always saw her sisters face in every crowd and didn’t hesitate to ditch everyone else when the option was to have Vi or anyone else! Yes, Jayce and Viktor have a strong bond, but to say they have the “strongest” bond and that the entire story was always about them is just off because the build up to their bond from season 1 to season 2 was nothing compared to everything we saw between Vi and Jinx. Having everyone suddenly say “omg it was them all along it’s their story!!” When it’s literally not! It’s a story of SISTERS! Jayce and Viktor’s bond has quite literally overtaken and overshadowed all other relationships in this story when it’s not even the most impactful relationship in the show- it’s Jinx and Vi!

Like Jayce and Viktor did not have any amount of build up to justify the entire cast and crew talking about their “transcendent bond” that is somehow better than every other relationship in the show and ignoring the actual transcendent bond of sisterhood that made this entire show.
