Since the new chapter has some japanese influence as far as we know, my very first thought when wondering about the weird route was Noelle as some type of snow woman.

If someone else is getting slimmed by the snowgrave I might as well kms
Context: This fanfic may contain spoilers for the Record of Ragnarok/Shuumatsu no Valkirie series, including some details from the spin-offs. Although it is based on a real mythological character with myths present in the work, it should be noted that I will use the mythology and the character from the series, her personality (or what little she shows) and the relationships she has in the series with other gods and historical figures.
Although not many know it, since the ancient Norse religion has become mythology, the relationships between the gods in the heavens are well known and often depicted in their myths. In this case, and after all the battles that took place during Ragnarok, a couple emerged that no one expected to see, since it is known that one of them had a complicated relationship with their former partner.
The gods were utterly shocked. No one expected a goddess capable of killing her beloved, committing suicide to be with him, and initiating Ragnarok for power to end up falling in love with a human. It's true they knew the presence of this little human, who had recently died, would interfere with how things were organized, but they never imagined she would fall in love, much less with a woman. It's a somewhat taboo subject, as homosexual relationships have always been throughout history. Had a god not spread the rumor, they would never have known they might be together, or even considered it. Their public demeanor was friendly; no one truly knows what happened.
In contrast, the humans—and by that I mean the participants in Ragnarok—were well aware of the situation. The time between the selections and the battles was several months, if not several years. The whole affair was handled with utmost discretion and meticulous planning, all just before the decision was made about whether Earth would exist for another thousand years. Although many can no longer tell the tale, many others can speak of the glances exchanged, especially yours toward Brunhilde, the way you spoke to each other, and above all, your constant affirmations that you liked her.
How all this began is a long story, but if you want to start from the beginning, you have to ask Jesus Christ. It sounds very strange, we all know, but Buddha let the cat out of the bag regarding Ragnarok and his help to the Valkyrie sisters. Jesus had just been tasked with guiding a soul without religion into heaven, and he couldn't think of a better way for them to see all the different religious perspectives than by talking to all sorts of people who had lived through every religion that had ever existed. Yes, it was all an excuse to take a break from that little job he'd been doing for a year. It was starting to wear him down a bit, and that's saying something, considering he's Jesus Christ.
For Brunhilde, it was a complete surprise and, above all, a commitment. As Buddha said, she seemed like a rather complicated person, but over time she realized that more than complicated, she simply overthought everything. From her perspective, she was someone who wanted to see everything, but didn't know if that "everything" was to her liking, and in the end, she didn't see much. To put it simply, she liked to know about everything but didn't achieve much, and that can be applied to many areas, and the one that caused Jesus problems was religion.
In your view, none of them were one hundred percent good, and for that reason, it was better not to have one and to live as you believed was right, but that only delayed your ascent to heaven or descent to hell (in Catholic terms). At first, the whole situation seemed strange, and when they sent you to Brunhilde, even more so. Besides, at first, she intimidated you. And a little afraid, you couldn't deny it. She's a serious person who takes her work seriously, but despite that, you could see how she was with those she cared about.
It took you both a while to start dating; it was a somewhat complicated situation. One was a human with little experience in love, and the other with little experience, especially with men. Her history with Siegfried put you off, but talking with her and many other gods, you realized that many myths are exaggerated or altered, although the true story didn't vary much from the mythology. In any case, despite both of your stubbornness, a gap opened up for you to talk about how you felt, with a little help from the human fighters.
They were giving you little pieces of advice and dropping hints or teasing Brunhilde, making her fall for them and revealing her feelings. However, that wasn't the only thing that made her realize how she felt about you. Those moments alone talking about anything and everything, the little trips to find you because you were late, the hours spent planning meals so you wouldn't get caught off guard—it all added up, and it only increased the affection she had for you.
The relationship is now common knowledge, but it's not officially confirmed except to those who ask directly, who then choose to remain silent. The gods' opinions are quite varied; many are completely against it, knowing how such relationships usually end or because it's frowned upon, whether because she's a human, a woman, or a girl who died at twenty-two two years ago. The humans, well, although many weren't entirely happy about it, since the topic of homosexuality was still difficult for them, all those who helped bring the relationship about were very pleased. Of course, there were those who tried to prevent it, knowing how the gods were and how they interacted with humans. We're not staring at you, Leonidas.
But they didn't care much, or at least not now. At first, both were in denial of their feelings, because one had never liked a woman, and the other knew too many stories about the relationships between gods and humans, how they end, and the differences in age, status, and past relationships didn't bode well. For starters, were they still together even though one was imprisoned? You didn't know if they still communicated in any way, or if, despite the lack of communication, she still loved him—after all, she had committed suicide for him. Meanwhile, the other was filled with conflicting thoughts because she liked Siegfried, but she didn't know when you started appearing in her thoughts and seeing her in a different light. There was a time when she didn't know how to treat you, and you ended up not speaking to each other, remaining in awkward silences. But the more you talked about how you thought, things you liked, and the more you did activities together beyond organizing Ragnarok, the more obvious it became, even though you still denied it.
Finally, with a little nudge and a clever little trick to get you two alone, you both ended up confessing your feelings practically at the same time, and you started dating almost immediately. At first, you kept it a secret, avoiding public displays of affection, but anyone who had eyes or knew you liked each other saw it as very obvious. Although everyone thought you were just good friends, the trope of friends acting this way blinded them to the obvious, which you took full advantage of.
Brunhilde isn't the most affectionate in public, but in private she'll hug you, especially if she's had a stressful day. She'll shower you with kisses on your face and head when you least expect it. She remembers everything you like and is always attentive to what you say, in case you mention wanting something, needing to do something, etc., just so she can help you or grant your wish. She enjoys going out with you, although you also each go out with your own friends separately; she doesn't want to overwhelm you or herself. You often have small get-togethers with her sisters and the warriors with whom you formed Volund, enjoying an afternoon together. No matter what kind of day she's had, she always tries to treat you well, no matter how frustrated she is. If you let her complain, she'll speak very rudely for a while, but she won't refer to you in a mean way and will try to hide her bad mood, thanking you and hugging you for the rest of the day and night. When she's happy, she's the first to smile at you from ear to ear and treat you in the best way possible, showering you with affection and wanting, but not forcing, you to stay home with her so you can be like that all day.
