okay “Helpful Jack” is the name Elijah Hayward gave to the skull he found in a secret area underneath the thrones in the Throne Room

Helpful Jack was part of a skeleton that originally belonged to Sterben, the shadow man who took care of the bodies in Obsidian (and for both classes after the merge)

Sterben is Lee’s character/NPC so he could provide a lot more detail than I could, probably, but in essence Sterben is the shadow of a court magician that came to life and as he grew stronger the dude grew weaker and eventually died. Sterben took his place and stashed the body, which he still bore some connection to, in that secret room.

He’s loosely based on this fairy tale.

Yes! All of the NPCs have their own backstories, spoilers, and even miniquests! It’d probably make this answer waaaayyyy too long to try and go into everything here, and I’m sure I’d end up forgetting details in my haste to summarize it all, so if you want to know more about a specific NPC feel free to ask about them, or even send asks to those of them that have their own blogs!

A helpful directory of the NPCs and the blogs they can be reached at is here, though you’re still free to send asks about them to this blog!

(Note: The Birds can also be questioned/asked about, but can only be reached through this blog. Ditto for Ama since she was the last to appear and never got her own blog. Klaus can be reached through the Deadblog ask.)

Attention ALL OuTers (including readers)

Hey guys! So who's pumped for OuT2 to get started? I know for a fact I am. Well, to celebrate OuT2, I thought it'd be fun to do something as one big family. Specifically, OuT1 style.

So I'm going to be hosting a big RP Party this Friday at 8 EST.

Not here for the first OuT Party? Well, basically what we're gonna do is we're all gonna huddle around the TogetherTube for the music and the Chatzy to roleplay as our characters in attendance to the party. It was super fun last year and not just cause we ended up drunk ic.

But hark, what about the readers? Well I don't wanna leave them out. We're gonna have to have two sites open for the party, TogetherTube for the music and Chatzy (or whatever it is we always use) for rp. While Chatzy will be reserved for rping with this round of OuT, everyone is free to chat ooc on the TogetherTube chat.

Is there going to be two separate parties for Glass and Obsidian? Come on guys, act like you like each other! Both classes will be huddled up in one party. We can just go ahead and claim it as our own pre-despair/pregame cannon.

Interested? Be sure and RSVP and let me know if you can come. If I don't get many responses, then I'll have to cancel the event cause it's really something I want to use to bring us all together. If something comes up, I'll post it to my rp blog under the tag OuT Party, but I'll also be posting under that tag for the actual link to the party.

And I hope you guys like swing music cause heck you if you thought Mia's party was the end of it, I found like hours of swing music on Youtube. <33333
