I've had this pic in my camera roll for so long that I forget where it's from. But it still feels so enchanting to me. If I got rid of my dresser I could do this. But where to put my clothes?

Got this set of two mid-century inspired chairs today at Goodwill! I think I want to paint the bases, but I'm not sure what color. Currently they're layered with two unattractive shades of rust-colored paint. I'll paint them either black, white, or silver.
Pretty blue.
Rowhome repetition.
Have you ever thought about
A coffee table or bench as a low console? This is in a small studio, and putting it against the wall really maximizes the movable space.

Design Tip: Bold Bathroom
Just because it's the smallest room in the house, that's no reason to skimp on creativity. I'm inspired by this wonderfully ecclectic bathroom.
1. Start strong. The chevron floor pattern and subway tile (I'm so used to white that it's refreshing to see in black!) lay a stylish base.
2. Accessorize like it's your living room. Cool fixtures, delicate details, and the pops of yellow really make it sing. Now if only this half bath had a shower.

This is what a typical design meeting looks like at my work now that dogs have taken over.
Marbled
I've been leaning heavily towards marble lately. What a beautiful, natural material. Think of how much art has been carved out of the stuff. I like it best when there's a big slab of it and you can see all the patterns- as long as it's not too bold and cut thick. It's normally used for buildings and for sculpture, but now there are tons of applications that bring it to a much smaller, relatable scale. I really want to start using it at work.
An incredible marble return on a kitchen island at Rue Magazine. This is my new #1.

And just for fun, the theme of my Google Chrome is also marble.
Winter Garden
It may be mid-February, but I’m 26 and its about time I had a potted plant. I decided to adopt this succulent from Skinnyskinny in Williamsburg partially because the colors are so beautiful. I also picked up an air plant for my hanging terrarium. I repotted it in this cool little pot, originally intended for Seed Bombs. Those have a better chance of survival if I plant them in spring.
I had to get creative since I don’t have a window sill yet. I’m thinking about making one for each window. Might be nice by my bed too. See how weird that space is? I classily use it to store a box fan.

Do Try: Wrapping Paper
And now comes a new part of my blog where I try things and tell you about it. With this, I was obviously inspired by the chalkboard wall bathroom I posted earlier. Craft paper is my go-to for wrapping all gifts, but for my friend, the bride-to-be, I wanted to jazz it up. This took me all of 10 minutes.
Ingredients: Craft paper Silver sharpie Clear ruler 1: Roll the paper out by estimating how much you'll need. Use heavy things like 99c store candles to hold it flat in the corners.
2: Decide what scale you want to use. I decided a 2" would work. Make a mark (a cross in this case) every two inches.
3: Lay your ruler over the first row on the two inch line. Make a mark every two inches, but stagger with the line above. Continue down the page.
4: Admire your work.
5: Wrap away!
Society6
As an addendum, here's a print by Tina Crespo that might help a bit when I get homesick. Society6 has so many great, affordable prints. They offer them framed, on stretched canvases, on iphone cases, pillows, and more. A couple other ones I liked are:
Bill Murray by replaceface.
Compass (natural) by Zach Terrell [this would go well with my arrow collection!]
Goodbye Mountain by Matthew Korbel-Bowers
Earth patterns on foggy cliff-side morning. Could make quite the textile, no? When it's this foggy, the contrast of colors gets surprisingly high. Things skew towards washed out or super vivid. I miss beachy mornings like this, even if my hair doubles in size.
This Mursi Rug by BRABBU makes me happy. Just the right amount of imperfection.
DT: Vintage innovation.
This Philly house is full of great ideas.
1. Chalkboard paint allows you to create your own wallpaper (and changing it isn't an ordeal!)
2. Be flexible with shelving. Let the shape of the room inspire placement of both shelves and the things you want to display/store.
3. Work that natural light with some sheer curtains.
4. Get creative with your headboard. Try a door!

Design Tip: The Hits.
This house is everything I dream about- comfortable, low lines, warmth, eclectic. And my future navy bathroom.
1. Some rooms are just asking for a pendant. (I should really do a post about the horrific light that my landlord put in my bedroom. It's a crime.)
2. Hang art at eye level. When in bedroom, that's bed-level!
3. Wood brings a cozy touch to each room, even the bathroom.

I really love these prints by Lulu deKwiatowski today.
