The Push Off is not a Trick- Skatepark, Chelmsford 2016- I have pastover this foto so many times, as I browse my archive looking for content. Opting for more of a knarly trick. I knew liked the picture but just thought it was dramatic enough. Afterall it was just a skater “pushing off” on his way to the oth r side of the skatepark or something. Its not a trick, its a nececity. Then it hit me…“Pushing off is not a trick "actually it’s the most fundamental practice of skateboarding. It’s no trick but without knowing how to do this first there’s no magic… I think it’s about time we gave "the push off” some props. For this is the most fundamnetal of all moves in “skateboarderdum”,akin to walking. This man is Good- Freetown, Sierra Leone - portrait of a person without the actual person. In fact I think it’s a portrait of people because this scene is familiar for many in Africa. I chose not to crop this deliberately… As there are important descriptive elements around the edge & also I think it adds to overall imbalance & “fuckedupness” of the wall & environment.
