@broodsmusic: So we wrote this song a little while ago with our very talented friend @lorde
(Lorde / Royals)
The Love Club EP Review
Lorde’s album, The Love Club EP, was released in 2012 but her song, Royals, is turning out to be a summer hit. The coolness of her voice and the snappy beats make the song a lovable catchy tune and it all carries on throughout the rest of the album.
The developed voice of Lorde turns a 16-year-old New Zealand native dreamer into a mature singer-songwriter telling stories through her lyrics and synthetic tune. It’s as if Lana Del Rey and Grimes were mixed into the old soul of this teen.
Ella Yelich-O'Connor is the name behind the stage name, Lorde, and is definitely one to check out. Royals is beginning to break into mainstream radio stations in America and her latest single Tennis Court was released June 7 in New Zealand.
The following is the tracklist of Love Club EP:
Bravado
Royals
Million Dollar Bills
The Love Club
Biting Down
It’s a new art form; showing people how little we care.

Can’t even deal. So good. I don’t even know why I like it so much. I really shouldn’t. But I can’t stop listening.

All my life I’ve been fighting a war I can’t talk to you or your friends It’s not only you My heart jumps around when I’m alluded to This will not do ‘Cause I was raised up To be admired, to be noticed But when you’re withdrawn It’s the closest thing to assault When all eyes are on you This will not do Oh, oh, oh, oh Oh, oh, oh, oh Oh, oh, oh, oh Oh, oh, oh, oh I’m faking glory Lick my lips, toss my hair And turn the smile on And the story’s brand new But I can take it from here I’ll find my own bravado [Chorus] It’s a switch flipped, it’s a pill tipped back, it’s a moon eclipsed, oh And I can tell you that when the lights come on, I’ll be ready for this It’s in your bloodstream A collision of atoms that happens before your eyes It’s a marathon run or a mountain you scaled without thinking of size I was frightened of every little thing That I thought was out to get me down To trip me up and laugh at me But I learnt not to want the quiet of a room With no one around to find me out I want the applause, the approval, the things that make me go, oh Oh, oh, oh, oh Oh, oh, oh, oh Oh, oh, oh, oh Oh, oh, oh, oh [Chorus] It’s a switch flipped, it’s a pill tipped back, it’s a moon eclipsed, oh And I can tell you that when the lights come on, I’ll be ready for this It’s in your bloodstream A collision of atoms that happens before your eyes It’s a marathon run or a mountain you scaled without thinking of size I was frightened of every little thing That I thought was out to get me down To trip me up and laugh at me But I learnt not to want the quiet of a room With no one around to find me out I want the applause, the approval, the things that make me go, oh Oh, oh, oh, oh Oh, oh, oh, oh Oh, oh, oh, oh
Behold Lorde. By far the best thing to come out of my hometown Auckland, and only 16 years old. She’s killing it.
from Lorde / Royals
The interview with Lorde I shot (camera op) recently went up, have a looksie, she’s pretty dope.
Lorde-Royals
“But every song’s like: Gold teeth, Grey Goose, Tripping in the bathroom, Bloodstains, Ball gowns, Trashing the hotel room. We don’t care, we’re driving cadillacs in our dreams. But everybody’s like: Cristal, Maybach, Diamonds on your timepiece, Jet planes, Islands, Tigers on a gold leash. We don’t care, we’re aren’t caught up in your love affair.”
