soulless!sam is not talked about enough, honestly. his soul (his emotions, feelings, empathy) is what set him apart from just being another one of all the other freaks they hunted. his soul is what made him human, made him good. even if he was tainted with demon blood, even if he was an abomination, he was still good, still had a kind soul and that's what kept him sane in so many parts of the show, was the idea that he was redeemable because of his soul, because of who he was

and soulless!sam had none of that. he had none of those comforts, none of that true sam-ness, so that when i first watched the show, I thought he was possessed because of how different he was. he was, seemingly irrevocably, lacking in everything that made him the sensible, empathic, caring man that made the show so great. and the worst part about it is he didn't care. he didn't care what he might become, didn't care who he is and who he would be, didn't care about the victims, his brother, even though caring is who sam is and i think that deserves more attention as a whole from the fandom
