A BIG belated thanks to everyone who made my first Anthrocon truly unforgettable. I can't emphasize how much your kindness, support, and laughter meant to me, especially with how challenging life has been lately.
I've been feeling pretty bad about myself and my work lately, and pretty much every single person who came up to my table at AC made me feel seen and appreciated. This is a con I've been dreaming of coming to since I was in high school, so having my first AC visit be combined with vending in the dealer's den as well? Spectacular. I truly never thought I could make it this far.

Hey yall, life update time. I'm gonna be real with you - I'm really struggling, and could use some help 💔

I don't know how else to start this; for the past couple of months, things have gotten pretty dire. I need help.
My fiancé and I need to move from California to New Jersey within the next month - My fiancé’s family has graciously offered to let us stay with them in NJ while we recover and look for new housing. The apartment we’re in is awful, and the cost of living expenses are bleeding us dry. And although I love my roommates, this living situation just isn’t working anymore and my fiancé and I very much need our own space to work. Vending at conventions has become my full time job, and due to the scale that I’m working at now, I also need to move to a part of the country with more drivable conventions and more affordable living options.
We were expecting things to go smoothly leading up to our move - things were going well! We made plans to begin this move months ago, and were ready to get the ball rolling. Then shit hit the fan.
In the past two months:
I got scammed by an event I invested hundreds in
I made half of what I usually make at what is (well, was) my most reliable convention
my mom got diagnosed with cancer
my third "permanent" dental crown suddenly broke, and it has to be extracted. This is not the first time this has happened, and it has now restarted the extensive - and expensive - dental work that I thought was long behind me. You can see everything that took place in a previous GoFundMe that I had.
Emotionally and financially, I am exhausted. I haven’t felt this drained in years.
I'm trying to secure loans to help fund the move, but so far I haven't had much luck. So… here I am asking for help.

Oh, the misery / joy! It's been a wild couple of days with some high highs and just a teeny bit low lows, and I'm here to share an update 📣

First off, I just wanted to take a second to thank every single person who has taken the time to toss a couple of bucks to the GFM so far. Every penny has made a genuine difference and is being put towards a better future. Thank you all, Truly!
To start, let’s share some good news!
You may have noticed, but the goal for the GoFundMe has been made a bit smaller - and for very good reasons too! So, without further adieu, onto my famous and beloved conveniently hyphen-shaped bullet points:
- the moving expense for the Pod has been dropped from $6000 to $3500. It turns out that UHaul offers a very similar solution for MUCH cheaper… and offers more space too! Our current apartment is within, no joke, a couple of feet from a UHaul facility as well. Win win!
- I was able to successfully get my tooth extracted with minor complications. They found a small infection while getting it removed, but it is being easily treated with antibiotics. But the good news here? Insurance miraculously covered everything. It even covered a small cavity that needed to be redone! I’m sure that I will eventually need (expensive ) implants for this lost molar in the future, but for now, I will take any win I can get.
- I had an absolutely wonderful time at Whinny City Pony Con. The sales I made there were a wonderful surprise! I didn’t make enough to cover absolutely everything for this move, but it’s a very good addition to what I’m currently working with. The crazy thing is that I made more at this con than my last, which was Furry Weekend Atlanta! There were a fraction of the attendees at WCPC compared to FWA (<1000 vs >16,000), so I’m quite surprised!
Now that we’ve got the good news out there, I do have yet another small bump in the road to share:
- I had to get an oil change, and while doing so, my tires were inspected. To put it bluntly, they are quite unsafely worn, and I will require new tires before I drive 3000+ miles from coast to coast. That’s another couple of hundred I wasn’t planning on needing, and it looks like it’ll be around the $600 range to get them.
The move is set to happen in 10 days. And that’s uh! Quite soon! So, that’s that. I need to get back to packing! Thanks for giving this a read, and thanks again to everyone who’s taken time to donate and spread the word. I’m gonna keep on trucking along, and I’ll do my best to respond to any unread messages.
