Revealed: Bearded men carry 'more germs than dogs' ā Research - (Vanguard) Menās beards carry more germs than dogs do in their fur, a study has found. Scientists looked at the levels of bacteria lurking in 18 menās facial hair and 30 dogs from different breeds. āThe researchers found a significantly higher bacterial load in specimens taken from the menās beards compared with the dogsā fur,ā Professor Andreas Gutzeit, of Switzerlandās Hirslanden Clinic, said. The study was designed to find out if there was a risk of humans picking up a disease from dogs if they used the same MRI scanner as a vet, reports the Mail on Sunday. It found that all the man, aged from 18 to 76, had high microbial counts ā while seven had bacteria which were hazardous to human health. Only 23 of the dogs had high microbial counts, with the rest being moderate. When the MRI scanners were disinfected, researchers found higher levels of bugs after the men had used it. āOn the basis of these findings, dogs can be considered as clean compared with bearded men,ā said Dr Gutzeit. NIGER STATE MAN WHO RAPED A 12YEAR OLD BOY TO DEATH SENTENCED TO 1 MONTH IMPRISONMENT WITH A FINE OF N30,000 The sentence which is as good as telling the rapist and murderer "thank you, well done and do it again" took place after 12-year-old boy, identified only as Aminu, lost his life after he was allegedly sexually abused by one Abubakar, a tea seller in Ngwayanma, in the Kontagora area of Niger State. Abubakar, aka Maishai, had reportedly abducted Aminu from his parentsā house sometime in March, and held him hostage in his (Abubakarās) apartment. He was alleged to have severally had anal sex with Aminu for two weeks, until the victim fell ill. . It was gathered that a neighbour, who got wind of Aminuās abduction, raised the alarm and reported the case to the police at the Kontagora division. While Abubakar was arrested, the boy was admitted to a hospital, where he died. A police source said that Abubakar was arraigned in a Kontagora Chief Magistrateās Court before the boy died, on two counts of abduction and unnatural offences, to which the defendant pleaded guilty. . āThe unfortunate thing is that he was sentenced to one monthās imprisonment with a fine of N30,000, which is ridiculous. The punishment generated a lot of outcry. But it is not the policeās fault. What the police can do is to appeal the case or file a new charge, now that boy is dead,ā he added. . The Niger State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Elkana James, confirmed Aminuās death, saying that the case had been transferred to the command headquarters in Minna. . He added that the suspect would be re-arraigned on a fresh charge of culpable homicide. He said, āHe is still in prison, serving the one monthās imprisonment.
