Found a drive-through video of the Red Rock Canyon half-marathon course. The video starts at the half-way point of the full marathon. That hill between miles 14-18 is what destroyed me. But so scenic, I rarely was even tempted to drop my head.
The race starts at 3800' elevation, rises to 4771' over about 7 miles, then plummets to 3740' at the turnaround. Then it loops back over the same course for a total of about 2710' elevation gain throughout. MONSTER!!

Finished the grueling Red Rock Canyon Marathon. Stunningly beautiful desert landscape outside Las Vegas, which served a major ass-whooping. Thankfully uninjured, and looking for more after a few days of recovery!

10.4 mi and feeling good. Need to keep building mileage for Red Rock Canyon, but feeling better about it now.
7.5 mi. A little bridgework on a cool but dry evening. And a much needed sweat-out of the day's stress. Definitely better off for getting out the door before opening the beer.
6 mi. Break time tomorrow. Scheduling a Terwilliger run this weekend to prep for hills.
5.35 mi. Getting back in the saddle. Again... 1 month to go before Red Rock Canyon, and just hoping to enjoy myself and not get injured. Certainly won't be "prepared."
A warm 6 mi out-and-back on the South side of Hood starting from White River. Plenty of snow, but soft and post-holing from time to time. - PDX/J
I’m counting the 250 meter sprint through the Minneapolis airport as my cardio for yesterday.
In other news, my blood-work came back pretty stellar. Somewhat elevated cholesterol as usual, but a good LDL/HDL ratio to balance that out.

Got 5 mi. in on the treadmill today. I've got a lot of work to do before March. Oh, boy. - PDX/J

Last week was somewhat of a success (I am choosing to look at the glass half full today). I didn't work out at all and have a terrible excuse for every day I missed. However, I did manage to bring lunch 4x during the week (ate 3x...last minute run to Loving Hut over ruled my leftover chicken & soup) and I only had cheese on a burger I had during lunch on Friday. Seriously. I ask you. How can you have a burger without cheese?!??
That said, my goal for this week stands:
Fitness goal: Crossfit 3x + Saturday and sticking to the first week of RunKeepers training for a 5K. FYI- need to fix my RunKeeper since it seems to have deleted my training programs. And wake up in my own bed Saturday AM, which makes it that much easier to get to the gym.
Food goal: Bring lunch 4x + no dairy

Post 5.25 mi run Mexibowl deliciousness: rice, chorizo, spinach, tomato, mango, avocado, sour cream & green onion. Occasionally I do cook when Andrew's away! - PDX/J
First snowshoe of the year: Crosstown Trail above Government Camp. Some wonderful fresh air and blue skies above the grey clouds below. - PDX/J
2013 and though I don't believe really in making resolutions, I do believe in setting goals. Now that it's time to get out and play, I plan on setting achievable weekly goals along with some larger ones as things progress. Small steps for rather big 9.5 sized shoes!

Fully prepped for WLC! Honestly, it didn't take much: purged some SUPER old carbs from my kitchen, headed to Paragon for a foam roller (a much overdue purchase if I may say so) and researched fish oil supplements.
That said, Sunday I had my final Mac & Cheese lazy-weekend-lunch, my foam roller has already earned it keep and I am still trying figure out my best options for fish oil. I have little to no desire to choke down 4x1,000mg pills a day, so trying to find capsules that have a stronger dosage.

Tonight was all about leftovers & trying to use up weary veggies.
Ta-da! Salmon cakes with spring onion and zucchini seasoned with grainy mustard (inside) and mild wasabi whip (on top), wilted spinach (that was a HALF a bag!) and then random tomatoes I got impatient while attempting sear/blister and just threw in a bowl with good olive oil and balsamic.
All Paleo Friendly & I have 2 cakes left over for breakfast of which I will throw a runny egg over.
