Do you ever just receive an IC reply that just feels personally insulting? Not even passive aggressive. Just more like they didn’t even read your last post.
Damn, Cherubplay had me so spoiled with its anonymity. It was so easy to just end a chat if you found out that you and a another person weren’t vibing.
Everywhere else I go it seems like a capital crime to ghost. I would just like to reaffirm that it’s my God Given Right to Ghost. You don’t owe anyone your time or an explanation, which is something I think a lot of rpers on other platforms need to learn.
Seeing Cherp die a fiery death is really disheartening but I’m glad I was able to go somewhere else before it happened.
r/roleplay on reddit’s pretty good for anyone who wants something at least a little similar to cherp/cherubplay. I just heard that cherp should be down for a week or so (directory only when it returns) and that the whole thing should take about a month to rebuild. So, in the meantime, if you’re still looking for a place to rp, I have at least one recommendation.
So I took the plunge and started branching out a bit more and I have to say, the r/roleplay community on reddit is my new favorite. My obscure prompt got taken by multiple people almost immediately and I urge anyone with big ideas for non fandom characters to check it out. The community is 13+, though, which means that there should be no nsfw topics in the actual prompt (a welcome change from cherp honestly if you’re hungry) and no cursing whatsoever in your prompt. Otherwise, go crazy!
In light of cherubplay’s shutdown, I was wondering if anyone here has tried to branch out into other rp communities. I know discord and cherp are the popular places, but are there other communities you guys are fond of? I really do appreciate cherp, but I don’t want to start putting all my eggs in one basket again. I’ve been looking around and r/roleplay on reddit seems sort of similar, but I’ve never posted in or used that subreddit.
“ what do you wanna know about my character?”
I really do try not to be vindictive or mean but if you keep connecting to my prompt pretending to be someone else (badly) I’m just going to keep letting you write crappy replies to my starter and then disconnect.
Five years
Yesterday marked the fifth anniversary of Cherubplay’s public opening.
I planned a significant update to the site, but there’s still some important bug fixing to do and due to computer issues I probably won’t be able to finish it until I’m back on my desktop computer in a couple of weeks.
So until then, I’ll leave you with two words:
Tis the end of the /emphasis/ slashes....prepare for....fonts
Them: I’d like to play an OC for this.
Me: Could you tell me about them?
Them: Sure. What do you want to know?
:) :) Don’t do this :) :)
Someone I haven’t answered in a few days just took down one of my prompts again and asked me why I haven’t replied. It’s a first for me brothers. Just take the L and go.
Why are some people on cherubplay freaks and use the directory like a blog? Also, why would someone collect data from an RP site for a sociology project? If you’re using cherubplay like a social media site, you’ve gone too far mate.
cherubplay tag has always been series of people vaguely replying to other posts in the tag, welcome to the party, the exit is there, and i’m vagueing at you, person complaining at other people for vagueing, yes.
Didn’t want to clutter the tag with even more vague posting, but my post was just a vague post about someone telling me not to vague post. Please don’t misjudge me. I love the vague blogging nature of the tag.
The Preaching Orange is back. It’s now illegal to vaguepost in the Cherubplay Tag. Sorry guys.
(This is a sarcastic vaguepost meant for a very special person that told me not to vaguepost. I’m sorry to ruin the art of the vaguepost, but it needed to be said.)
Yes, I am. Please, everyone who feels like Cherubplay is inadequate in some way or “broken,” I implore you to create your own site. Write your own code, pay for your own server, and get as many mods as you like. No one will be sad to see you go. So, for your own happiness, create that site you think will outshine Cherubplay. Please apply capitalistic principles to an online role play site. Thank you.
Your blog is just you complaining about cherubplay.
Hate to break this to you, but the entirety of the cherubplay tag is populated by posts complaining about Cherubplay. I have never tried to pin this as a short-coming of the cherubmod, though. I believe the site itself works fine as it is. I have a blacklist, I use it. Sometimes I post about things that get through that impenetrable list. Sometimes I just don’t pay attention to it and go on with my life.
Yeah, the tag is people complaining. It always has been, and that’s fine. You are acting like you don’t complain with that post though. You can’t complain all you want and tell people to leave if they think the site is inadequate.
I feel like you’re missing my point. I don’t want more mods on Cherubplay. I’m fine with how things how with the site as whole. My main complaints stem from the userbase, not the site, not the cherubmod. People are specifically citing the cherubmod and how Cherubplay is managed as a whole as what they don’t like about the site. I say that if they don’t like how things are done on Cherubplay and refuse to acknowledge the problems with their suggested changes, then they can go somewhere else. I certainly won’t miss them.
You’re allowed to say ‘I don’t want more mods’. If that’s what you said you’d be fine. It’s not what you’re saying though. What you are doing is making claims about what other people are saying.
I made this post in response to a specific post about how cherubplay “needs to change or people will move to a newer, better site.” If you don’t like how the mod runs the site, create your own site or go somewhere else.
