Ringmeister …
sadly Stefan Bellof’s career was to short to create a palmares like that of Klaus Ludwig, but in the few years of his (too) short career he definitely left a permanent mark at the Nordschleife
in 1983 he set the ultimate pole position at the Nürburgring in the n°2 Rothmans Porsche 956, teamed up with experienced rider, Derek Bell
he set pole in a time of 6:11.130, which meant an average of 202.073kph, a time never bettered since!
during the race however they crashed their car & were forced to abandon the race
the 1983 edition of the 1000km would be the last high level international event held on the Nordschleife, from 1984 onwards the world championship endurance round would be held on the smaller Grand Prix track
