“You never know, if you’d got a job that needs to be done, you can probably find some student who’d be desperate enough to do it, I definitely supported my youngest daughter through a few years of unpaid internships.” Aaron laughed, “I was married for about five years when I was in my 20′s, we had two daughters and then split up when I got a job here in the city and she didn’t want to leave California, so the girls and I moved here. My youngest has moved back now and my oldest…I don’t know where she is, but I’ve got her daughter with me full time now and I just always hold out hope that sh’ll make her way back to us one day.” He looked away and cleared his throat, it was a hard subject to talk about, so he brushed it off. “What about you? You can’t possible be single, can you?”
Celeste listened, nodding and being respectful- it wasn’t exactly the happiest story, hearing about the man’s divorce and his kids. And his grandkid, and everything. But it showed that Aaron was pretty committed to his family. Not the usual type she met sitting at the bar after a drag show. She grinned. “You’re so sweet, taking care of her daughter. That shows you’re a good guy. I hope she makes her way back, too.” Celeste raised eyebrows. “I am single, hopelessly so it would seem.” She laughed. “I work quite a bit. Full-time paramedic, part-time drag queen. And then I have my numbers to create, and my dog to take care of. I’m thinking about adopting some chickens, too.” She leaned into her hand, brushing the soft hair of her wig out of her face. “I think... I’d like to get another cocktail. And I’d like to talk to you more. So if you’d like to join me for another drink...”
