I'm 26, ex-military (purple heart unfortunately or I would've been in there longer) , instead I'm now in the PTMC as an emergency medicine student. I was a medic during deployment and the military helped pay for med school so thank god.

“Oh no that’s ok. It’s just work stuff in there” she quickly reassures him before crouching to scratch under Duke’s chin “you are so cute” she playfully frowns, talking to Duke as if he can understand her

He watches them, a soft smile on his lips, “I know but you’ve been on your feet all day, I had today off anyways”

He grins and takes it, not intending to give it back until the end of the night now. “Thank you for letting me carry it” he says with a smirk

“Oh you sneaky bastard!” She lightheartedly scolds, shoving him playfully “Duke would never steal my handbag” she teases

“No but he might steal your shoes” he says as he pretends to stumbles dramatically, “I’m being abused here”
