addicted to drawing this creature
i think i don't really vibe with most other fans of my favorite male characters is because they usually depict them too much of a man, and i am not interested in men, i am interested in The Character. and i am not saying that they should depict them as women, or nonbinary, or should depict them as feminine, no, not at all. but there's like, you know, you can depict a male character as The Character, and you can depict them as The Man. do you get me? like, i go to the fandom looking for art and fics, and it's just, regardless of his actual characterization, it's all just fantasizing about some kind of an abstract dominant patriarch, wearing my favorite character's face. it may be the most totally-wouldnt-have-normal-relationships (and sometimes even would-literally-abuse-you) kind of guy, and you join a dedicated space for his fans, and all they talk about is how they want to marry and start a tradcore 50s style nuclear family with him. it can be a guy who's arrogance and attempts of domination are explicitly shown to be a facade that hide the fact that he's actually kind of a massive pathetic wet loser, and you go to his fics, and they're all depicting him as a caricaturish daddy dom. at this point it's like, do you even like the character at all, or do you just like The Man, and project this man onto whatever character you find visually attractive? and these people kind of, really really poison actual discussion of the character, who is kind of a fucked up evil person (i only like *those* types, so im talking about them) because they see analysis of the actual character as an attack on their fantasized daddy dom husband, who is actually isn't The Character at all, and is simply a face of the day for The Man
We tabled at an event last Saturday and Jima received FANART.
Do you know of any arachnids who ventured towards carcinisation?
no because the term "carcinization" was created to describe the tendency for marine decapod crustaceans to convergently evolve crab-like body plans, it was never supposed to be applicable to other animals!
I blame pop science for spreading it around as a funny term that got misunderstood and misapplied basically from that point onward. most other animal groups don't get their own term for this phenomena and carcinization does NOT apply because... these animals aren't evolving into crabs. only decapods do that ÂŻ\_(ă)_/ÂŻ
(decapods are the marine crustacean group with ten legs- true crabs, lobsters, hermit crabs, robber crabs, mantis shrimp, prawns, slipper lobsters, and all of their infinite assorted relatives in the deep blue sea)
give us back carcinization, bunjy. first warning.
one more word from you and no dessert tonight
Anybody else have no idea how their personality is perceived by others? Like am I nice? Am I mean? I have no idea.
When people tell me stuff about me I literally think about it nonstop for 3-5 business days.
Watching the process of this absolutely stunning painting makes it even more beautiful.

âThe Shonen Protagonist joins The Organizationâ is such a cheap and easy hack for framing a narrative because the author never has to come up with a reason why the protagonist gets involved in each arc. Itâs just that The Organization has a new Mission for the protagonist every time and the protagonist gets to say, âRighteo, thanks plot for telling me what to go do.â
Which makes Fullmetal Alchemist so much funnier because Edward Elric very very much does join The Organization. Heâs in fact quite famous for joining The Organization. Where The Organization is a hostile fascist dictatorship with immense military power which is good at both giving orders and punishing defectors.
And yet over the course of the series Edward is so allergic to ever being told what to do that he in fact never ever goes on an Organization-Ordered Mission. And the exactly one time The Organization DID try to tell him what to do Edward hated it so much he fucked off and impaled himself at the bottom of a mineshaft about it.
Most beloved beast
as a child there's nothing cooler than a kid who gets subjected to evil experiments and gains special abilities. it's even cooler if these abilities also cause unfathomable suffering to use/against others. children love stories like this.
The children yearn to be Mewtwo
Adam: Your older brother. Abel. He's dead.
Adams third child, Seth: What is that?
Adam: I don't know. This is new for me too.
Eve: I think "dead" is what happens to dinnerbeasts.
Seth:
Eve: We might have to dinner him.
ily three. it doesn't know how to mask or code switch and it doesn't really care to learn. its favorite thing to do is listen to science lectures from omniscient egomaniacs and this has accidentally made it PSUMNT's new hot popular girl (gender neutral) for all the advanced machine intelligences. it knows exactly what it wants from the word go and what it wants is to do a really really good job helping other secunits in perilous situations. it's excruciatingly bad at waving at people. it likes sightseeing. it jumpstarts a construct revolution the first chance it gets because why wouldn't it? all the constructs we know it's met have helped it and been its friends. also its name is three.
I think the battle is long since lost on what the â-codedâ suffix means, but I (old movie guy specifically invested in queer coding) seem to be unable to let go of how annoying I find the fuzzy popular use of the term. This is probably a flaw in my character.
Coding is intentional, itâs a way of communicating indirectly with the audience through a shared language of signs. Thatâs why itâs called coding, because itâs communicating in code. It isnât when a thing reminds you of another thing.
09/04/2026 ⢠every time @softinvasions writes a villanelle about how sonnets suck i write another suckful sonnet*. metrical malpractice!

just found out about this cute little birdy and i am in love
from the above-linked ebird.org:
Anis are bizarre, coal-black cuckoos with long floppy tails and unique, curiously tall, flattened bills. Groove-billed occurs in a variety of open and semi-open habitats in tropical lowlands and foothills, typically staying low in shrubs and grasses. Gregarious and not particularly graceful; usually seen crashing around awkwardly in small groups.
oh my god
groove billed anis are a hilarious cuckoo situation where they ended up laying their eggs in one anotherâs nests instead of anyone elseâs. they hang out together in groups of up to five pairs until a nest gets built (sometimes by committee, sometimes they just hang around hopefully until someone does it all on their own) then they start sneaking over and laying an egg in at a time. the females who lay for the first time will sometimes flip prior eggs out of the nest like âoh i KNOW this one isnât mine! away it goesâ but eventually everyoneâs laid a couple eggs in there and is stuck with the mutual hostage situation. then they take turns incubating until all the kids hatch and everyone pitches in on feeding them, because no one knows which of the kids are theirs so they all might as well.
they also like to do a team handshake where they clump up and mutually make a low bubbling noise together, to signal group affiliation. go team!
Also their eggs are incredibly beautiful. Theyâre a very pretty blue color, but covered by a white chalky outer layer that is easily scratched off, so they end up in various stages of in-between.
