I may be bad but I’m perfectly good at it.

I know I posted about an update on PCD a week or so back. I promise I’m almost done, I’m just now in the home stretch of editing. I’ve gotten a lot of requests for their wedding day, so I figured it’s high time I tackled it. This turned out to be a much harder prompt than I anticipated. If anyone’s interested in getting a sneak peek, check out below:

Peter grinned devilishly and pulled her close. "It’s lucky for me then that I don't lose fights all that often." The ghost of his breath tickled her forehead, luring her to inch closer when suddenly he pulled back. He took another step backwards off the path. "Come with me now."

"Where?"

Peter took both her hands and offered her a crooked smile. "Away from here."

He led her carefully off the path and into the untamed brush. She freed one of her hands to grasp the front of her gown and spare as much of it from the mud as possible. Tree roots were hidden by the bushels of crumpled leaves. She walked ungracefully, like a trotting horse, with all effort made not to trip. Her white satin heels sank with every blind step taken. They kept moving until they were deep in the woods and moving downhill. Lizzie squeezed Peter's hand for leverage as her bare ankles shook. He turned to her, then looked back at the direction from where they had come. There was no sight of the road, no view of the lake, and no sounds from the crowds still congregated at the church.

Lizzie took the initiative to step forward and wrap her arms around his lower waist. She met him with enough force to walk them both back until he was pressed against the gnarled bark of a maple tree. She buried her face against him and smudged a trace of her gold highlighter onto the lapel of his blazer. He kissed her forehead and whispered. "Tell me what's bothering you."

She shrugged and took another deep breath. "I just really needed to see you." Peter tucked his finger under her chin and gently urged her to look up at him. His thumb grazed under her eye and caught a warm tear. She frowned up at him. "Peter, this doesn't feel right."

She felt his entire body stiffen. "What doesn't feel right?"
