Status Update

My apologies for letting this sit dormant for so long. The Catalog Town was being managed by Anna (thank you again!) for several months last year. After receiving it back I attempted to repurpose the town via Project Dream Town whereby the community would choose one person to have complete creative control over the town and create a dream town for everyone to visit. That idea did not take off and the town has been collecting dust ever since.

There are no current plans to revive the town in any capacity, however I may casually open the town to visitors from time to time. If anyone has any questions or suggestions on how the town can be managed in the future, feel free to send an ask my way.

I started our-new-leaf in September of last year as blog hub for an ACNL game purchased using donations from the tumblr community. Since then, the giveaway town has hosted hundreds of visitors. Unfortunately however, I no longer have the time to manage the town. Rather than let it collect dust, I've decided to repurpose the town as a dedicated dream town- a blank canvas for the ACNL tumblr community.

PHASE I - THE HIVE MIND The first phase of the town's reconstruction centers around the creative process. For a week or more starting 11/4/14 I will be collecting ideas for town themes. Any idea is welcome, and they can be submitted here. The town can be based around a story, it can be a type of art installation- anything you can think of is fair game. At the end of the brainstorming period, I will choose my ten favorite ideas and I will put them up for community vote; the top theme will be implemented in the town.

PHASE II - URBAN PLANNING After the town's theme has been selected, I will work closely with the theme's creator to flesh out their initial ideas and help bring their vision to life. They will be mailed the copy of ACNL and can modify the town as they see fit. I will provide item duplication services as needed and other members of the tumblr community may be called upon to provide assistance.

PHASE III: REBIRTH Once the town has been completely reconstructed we will post its dream code to allow visitors. Depending on the nature of the theme/the creator's intentions the town may or may not ever be updated again. Regardless, the project will be considered complete and the town will be repurposed once again, either taking on a new dream town project, or being of some other use to the community. Either way, we'll always be able to dream of our tumblr town. :)

Future of the Town

Hi all! There are some things I would like to tell you, since it does hinder the availability of the catalog town.

Fall is starting, and even though it is one of the best seasons (in my opinion), school starts too. Please do not expect to have an opening every single week, and mind that the moderators of this town are real people with real lives.

The 3ds being used is having some technical difficulties; it has the known issue of making a popping noise and shutting off randomly. This is why the catalog town hasn't been seen for a little while :). I will try to use my main 3ds in the meantime, but I use that for personal issues.

Now is where I need your input. I do not know what you guys want as the general direction for this town, so please send in ideas! I'll bring them all together and put them into a poll on what I see is doable.

Session 12 is starting up soon, so please bear with me for awhile!

The Catalog Town is now OPEN!

There has been a bit of a mixup, but before you try to find the town, add the friend code 4828-5652-0076. The change of admins also has the change of 3ds's, and the sign up form accidentally had the friend code of the old town.

Hello! I'm wondering if sign-up 11 is a new form or an older form. If it is, have I signed up for it? My previous URL was sake-min since it has been a while since the catalog town has opened. Otherwise, I would appreciate to know if it's a new one so I can sign up. Thank you!

Hi, it me, Anna

As you all know from a post a couple of days ago, I, belforecutie (please just call me Anna though), will be the catalog town's admin for the next three months. You'll still be able to reach Nick, but most of the asks will be answered by me, so keep that in mind! After learning about the town for awhile, I'll be keeping the same procedure of signing up, but due to time issues, the town will run mostly through PST daytime usually until midnight. This might cause an issue for some people, so please shoot me a message if I need to open the gates at any specific time for you. Remember, nothing outlandish; I need my beauty sleep ;).

Announcement: New blog admin

A bit over a month ago I posted a Google form calling for volunteers to take over the maintenance of the catalog town and assist with blog management. I'm happy to announce that this role has been filled by belforecutie, who will be overseeing all town and blog activities over the next several months.

I've also enabled author portraits on this blog so you'll be able to tell who's who. Stay tuned for more updates on the blog and the town's status; it should be opening up again soon. :)

The catalog town is open!

I cleaned up most of my mess and have opened the town to guests. I apologize for the missing catalogable items, but villagers have moved in and out and their homes ate a few things. D:

The town will be open for about a week and then may or may not reopen again. I've kept everyone on my FC list who signed up here and will be sure to add anyone who signs up starting today. :)

any idea when you'll re-open the town again?

I apologize it's been so long. The hybrid experiments I'm doing are taking much longer than expected and because they're so tedious and repetitive it's hard to bring myself to do them. On top of this I had to clean out my storage in order to store flowers for the experiments and so now the town is filled with junk that I would need to find a place for before I can open the gates. I may make a fourth character for storage purposes and see if I can't open the gates later today...

Town (temporarily) closed for hybrid testing

I'm doing some experiments to learn more about breeding hybrid flowers. The town will be up for one final run after testing concludes. Note sure when that will be, however. I'll post again when it's back open. It'll be a few days at least.

Town opening for its final session (sign-up period 10)

After much thought and consideration, I've decided that this will be the town's final official session. I'm not sure how long it will last, but I would say at least a week or two. After that time period the town may open sporadically, perhaps on weekends.

I haven't been playing ACNL normally (aka doing day-to-day playing) for months now and I need to spend some time away from the game. I've been playing the series since the first game on the GameCube and have always come back to it, so please don't worry that I won't come back- I will, I just can't say when that will be.

My main blog (animalcrossingus) will continue to run as normal.
