The last book I read: Yesteryear by Caro Claire Burke. It was very good.
A book Iād recommend: The most recent book I purchased was The Incandescent by Emily Tesh; I recommend it heartily for those who enjoy British academia, magic, demons, tired middle-aged lesbians who not-so-secretly kick ass, & etc.
A book I couldnāt put down: Platform Decay by Martha Wells was the most recent one; the Murderbot show better get this far for very important reasons. Also Yesteryear.
A book Iāve read twice or more: There are several, but my most recent re-read was the Green Bone Trilogy (Jade City, Jade War, Jade Legacy) by Fonda Lee. Also enjoyed her newest, The Last Contract of Isako.
A book on my TBR: Books I have on hold at the library include Say Nothing by Patrick Radden Keefe (his latest, London Falling, was also very good); An Education in Power by Theo Baker, The Unmagical Life of Briar Jones by Lex Croucher, and The Disaster Gay Detective Agency by Lev Ac Rosen.
A book Iāve put down: Can't remember, because by nature if I bail out of a book early, it's usually pretty unmemorable.
A book on my wish list: I am very VERY excited for M.A. Carrick's newest book, The Eye of Leviathan, which comes out on July 14. My long-term screaming over their Rook and Rose trilogy is well known. As such, I have been informed that the authors, one of whom is my beloved tumblr mutual @alychelms, have personally bet on who will be my favorite character in this new series, so. NO PRESSURE.
There are also a couple books coming out later this year that I am excited to read, including Under Story by Chloe Benjamin, Ply by Hernan Diaz, and Dead Beat by Leigh Bardugo.
A favourite book from childhood: Does A Song of Ice and Fire count? Regardless of the entire Game of Thrones Mess TM and the fact that GRRM will never actually finish the series, I did sure enjoy it as a teen, and it's definitely had an impact on me long-term.
A book Iād give to a friend: Probably Rook and Rose, because lbr, I've already gotten everyone on Tumblr into it. So I've definitely done this.
A book of poetry or lyrics that I own: Not sure I own any poetry books?
A non-fiction book that I own: Many, but the most recent one I purchased was Challenger: A True Story of Heroism and Disaster on the Edge of Space, by Adam Higginbotham.
What Iām currently reading: Currently reading The True True Story of Raja the Gullible (And His Mother) by Rabih Alameddine.
What Iām planning on reading next: I have Sublimination by Isabel Kim, The Traveler by Joseph Eckert, and The Republic of Memory by Mohamed al Sayed on the bedside table. Missed picking up The Glassmaker by Tracy Chevalier due to being out of town; have put a hold on it again. I also still need to read The Long Game by Rachel Reid for important Heated Rivalry/Shadow and Bone fanfic crossover research purposes.
