It's been a while since we've updated anything on this blog, as our lives took over and we got busy doing other stuff. I thought I'd give everyone that was / is interested in a closure update - long distance relationships can and do work if both people are invested in each other. Three years ago, Monique moved to the UK to study and we moved in together. A year ago, on June 1st 2019, we got married at our local council hall. It was a small, but beautiful wedding with close family and friends :) Now we are just living our lives, day-by-day, trying to make the best out of the pandemic and enjoying each others company. Thank you for following us, and if you are in a long-distance relationship, don't lose hope, don't give up. Times will be tough, rough and heavy, but if you love each other and are willing to put in the work, you will perserve. All the best to everyone out there, Monique and Patryk

Five years of waiting and tomorrow you're finally coming over to Europe for the first time, to spend the entire summer with me :) I couldn't be more happy. I can't wait to see your gorgeous face light up when you experience things you've never seen before. When you eat food you've never tasted before. I am so excited to show you around, show you where I come from, show you where I grew up. To be able to share this part of my life with you is the greatest gift I could have ever asked for. It feels incredibly surreal but so wonderful at the same time. Thank you for sticking with me all this time. Update: I’m finally going over to you! It has been a very long and overdue task, but it’s finally coming true. I’m the one that’s coming to YOU this time! There’s been a lot of “I’m so busy with school”, “I don’t have the money”, “It’s not the right time”.. But when will I not be busy with school? If it’s not school, it’ll just be work. And money? Money is meant to be spent. Money shouldn’t matter. And the right time? There’s never a right time for anything. Life happens and you just have to go along with it and enjoy the scenery. I’m so grateful and appreciative of getting this far in my life with all the support of family, friends, and from you most of all. This would not have even happened if you were not part of my life. You mean so much more than the world could ever offer. Looking forward to the next two months in Europe.

For every person in LDRs, if the person you love is worth it in every possible way, make the journey.

Let me tell you. For all those in LDRs or those who are contemplating being in a LDR. It's hard. It's a lot of effort that you and your significant other need to put in. A relationship needs constant direction and drive, otherwise it will wither into both you and your significant other not being able to strongly join each other. There will be a lot of struggle, stress, and even those times where you just start to bawl your eyes out. So for all of those people in LDRs, you can do it. Patryk and I both believe in you. Persevere, don't give up on your significant other or your relationship. Put in trust, faith, and communication. All of which are key. Good luck to all of you out there in LDRs, you will make it and persevere through these dark and awful times. -Monique

Okay so here's an update of what has happened in the last month. You and I had a wonderful perfect summer together. You came over late July and stayed until late August. We went out together, hiked, explored.. But the most important thing that has happened while together? My parents. We actually met my parents, and hung out with them for a few days. This is better than anything I could have ever hoped for. From the day I told my parents about us, I was always anxious that it would never work out, that my parents would always hold a grudge against me and my relationship with you. But to be actually accepted? And with open arms? I couldn't be more ecstatic. Also, congratulations, dear. Your acceptance at Nottingham is well-deserved and you'll have such a lovely time. I know this is your place. You have made my summer worth the while and I will love you the way no one can ever attempt. And I know we will be together sooner than you expect. It just hit me today. I'm going to see you in less than 20 days. I get to actually see you in front of me before my very eyes. It's completely unreal and exciting. But the best part? We have a whole month to ourselves. We can explore more, eat more, cuddle more, and be with each other more. I can not wait any longer to see you, Patryk. I love you. I'm sorry that lately I haven't been writing as much here. Bubby, I love you. You are a great, cute, inspiring person and you always make me want go forward. I know lately I've been stressed a bit more than usual, and I'm truly sorry for sometimes putting my stress on you, and I want you to know that none of this is intentional, and that tomorrow you will do so absolutely well on your Matura. I have no doubts about it. All of the hours and months of studying have led up to you doing fantastically well on these exams. If there’s anything I want right now, anything at all, it would be snuggling into your chest and just staying there. No movement, nothing else. Just me delving my face into your chest and getting all that I need to keep me going. I miss this more than you know, it may not have seemed like much, but in reality it means more than the all the grains of sand combined. I love you, and I’m missing your warmth. Very excruciatingly much.
