You always felt like this world was never enough for you, even with everything you grew up with, being able to live a happy life within Wall Maria. Times were hard but you never felt yourself feel any less of yourself. It wasn’t until the fall of Wall Maria that you really felt aware of the dangers of the outside world come crashing down on you. You watched as your family were separated in the rush and hurrying panic of the people trying to escape, then you really understood as an 11-year-old girl, what it was really like, that this world was cruel, that death was now going to be a normal part of your life. At the age of 11, no one should have ever felt like that. But maybe you were born differently, that you felt differently from your peers.
“get on the boat!” You heard your brother cry out “Go [Y/N] and don’t look back”
You couldn’t say anything, as your brother flung you onto the boat and stepped back, watching a tear trickle down his cheek “Don’t worry about me”
“I...” You stuttered, your heart slowly sinking
“I’ll be on the next boat, I promise” He smiled, waving his hand up “I love you, little sis”
“I love you too”
“Mum and Dad will be there too, don’t worry,” He said, his smile fading. The boat started to ease forward, towards the safety of Wall Rose “I love you!” He shouted, “Don’t you ever forget that!”
“Brother!!” You screamed, but as you rushed to the edge of the boat, an older man grabbed you, holding you back “NO!” You screamed, reaching a hand out “Come with me”
“You will be okay! I promise you will be okay!”
That was the last time you had seen any of your family, your brother knew that was the last boat out of the dock, knowing there were other small children who had to get on, your brother had chosen to save you, letting him become food for the Titans which were headed towards him, knowing already that your parents were both gone, crushed by the rocks which had flown through the sky like shooting stars, only to grant death instead of wishes.
You followed the crowds to an area which had become a refugee camp for all the survivors of the Shiganshina District. Slumping against the wall, you let out a sigh, now fully understanding that your family was never going to show up.
“Are you okay?” you heard a voice of a young boy call out, he walked towards you, holding a small loaf of bread “here... you need to eat”
“I....” you looked up at him, his hazel eyes and blonde hair.
“Take it” He broke the load in half “Please” You reached out a hand and took the piece of bread from his hand. He looked worn out, tired from the events of the day, maybe he too had lost everyone he loved.
“....Thanks” you muttered, looking down at the bread, feeling your stomach churn slightly, making you feel sick in your throat.
“What is your name?” He asked, as two other children walked over to him
“ [Y/N]”
“I’m Reiner, this is Annie,” he said pointing to the blonde haired girl who looked fed up and unamused by the world. “This is Bertholdt” He pointed to the taller boy, whose eyes were hazed over by everything which had happened.
“Leave her” Annie said, pulling him away, leaving you alone once again.
You awoke to find yourself alone, your roommate in the barracks had probably already left in search for food. It had been 4 years since the fall of Wall Maria, although it still haunted your dreams every night, you knew you had to use it to make you a stronger person. You had followed many of the children from Wall Maria into the Cadets. Although you didn’t realize it at the time, the blonde boy who had been so nice to you on that fateful day, was amongst you. He had noticed you, remembering your eyes, he smiled to himself, knowing you had lived on.
You found yourself walking soon later into the mess hall, to see everyone gathered around Eren, who of course was blabbing on about how he was going to defeat all the titans
“Hey [Y/N]” you heard, as you scratched the back of your head, not really knowing what was going on, or who was even talking to you. Looking around you spotted the freckled dark-haired boy standing close to you, watching as Jean stormed towards the crowd. “Another day of this...” He sighed
“Marco, we really need to keep Jean away from Eren” You sighed, voice cracking a little from still being half asleep.
“Jean will be Jean” he smiled “I did try, but you know how he feels about Eren...”
“yeah, he really isn’t amused by anything Eren does, He constantly talks about how he is going to fail”
“That is unhealthy” You giggled a little, “I think it has something to do with Mikasa...more than Eren”
“Ah...” Marco giggled a little more “Yeah he was mad about that! He doesn’t shut up about it, he is really smitten”
Jean came storming back over to you both huffing and puffing.
“stupid idiot keeps telling everyone he will take down the titans himself! The only thing he will do is get himself killed”
“Calm down” Marco cooed. “You focus on you, or your grades will suffer and you can say goodbye to the Miltary Police”
“Ah..” Jean sighed, scratching the back of his head “hey [Y/N] you will come too right? The three of us would do good there”
“Yeah, the Miltary Police!” You held a fist up. “We will fight crime behind the walls!” To be honest, you didn’t know which one to chose when you first joined, it hadn’t been until you joined Marco and Jean at the table on your first week together that you had found your friendship group and a calling. To be honest, there had been something about Marco which had made your knees go weak from the first moment had met him. He was a sweet and curious guy, but he was the softest out of the lot, too good for this world, He had taken you under his wing, understanding that you had lost everything, while Jean and himself had still got a family waiting for them back home. Marco had felt pity, however instead of only feeling sorry for you he had brought you into his life.
“Imagine how good life will be once we graduate and join the police?” Jean cheered up over breakfast, he smiled looking at the two of you. “Three of us against the world”
“We have to destroy them all! Take back what was ours! yah! Annie! You doubt me?!” You heard Eren screaming from across the mess hall, sighing you looked over at Jean who of course was suddenly distracted, this time because of Annie, who was questioning his skills, Mikasa coming in ready to fight her. Jean ran over, leaving the two of you alone once again. You sighed, thinking about what a mess this was already, even a few years in, the fighting between them was continuing.
“That's if he studies” you sighed, “or he isn’t going anywhere”
“hey.. [Y/N] “ Marco turned to you “Did you think about what I said...”
You sat under the tree near the barracks, reading the soldiers handbook, studying for the tests which would be coming up soon. The sun was shining down on you, making your cheeks red from the hot sun. However, the breeze felt nice against your skin. You had started to study a little harder these days, thinking about the life which you could have with the Military Police among your friends.
“Hey [Y/N]” You heard a calming voice and looked up to see Marco standing in front of you, holding some bread and two bottles of water. “I got these from Sasha, she was looking for you”
“ah...I forgot..” You sighed, you had promised to help Sasha today, by going hunting together, however, time must have flown past, as it was way past the time you were supposed to meet “I guess I was distracted”
“Don’t worry, she took Conny instead, she told me to bring you these” He lifted the bread and water up “She knew you would be studying somewhere”
“She is too good to me...” you smiled, as Marco sat down next to you
“you have been here every day this week after training, you are really taking this seriously”
“We have to be in the top ten..” You smiled to Marco “You are the smartest between me and Jean, I have to keep up”
“Let me help you...” Marco said smiling. “But first, eat” You took the bread from him, the bread was a little hard to be expected of the food you were offered here, but you were happy to accept it either way.
“Thanks... Marco” You smiled, your heart fluttering a little. Marco smiled, his cheeks glowing in the sun “all you have done is be nice to me since the very beginning”
“well... we are in this together” he cooed. “One day we will have a good life I promise you that”
“Really?” You looked into his eyes. He knew about what had happened to your family, he was the first person you really had spoken to in all this time about what had happened and Marco had made it his duty to look after you.
“I was thinking too...”
“about?”
“[Y/N] when we graduate...” He paused for a moment “when we are older..” he was slowing down a little, he looked to his feet, his hands clenched together nervously “You and me...”
“hm?” Your heart skipped a beat “Marco?” You cooed his name and he looked towards you
“I want to protect you...” He smiled “from now till the day I die [Y/N]”
“Marco..” Your heart was pounding in your chest, a smile formed on your lips as you felt the warm feeling of love overwhelm you
“I mean... if you don’t want m..”
“Marco... that would be..” you smiled looking up at the sky “I want to work harder now... so that can come true”
“even if we don’t make it into the Miltary Police... I will always be there, next to you” He smiled, he brought himself closer and kissed your cheek so softly. You turned and looked at him, his eyes focused on your eyes, the two of you locked glances for a moment before Marco lent in again, kissing you on the lips.
“I am falling in love with you..” he whispered as he pulled away from you.
Months past and as the days went on, you and Marco were growing closer and closer to each other. The secret meetings under the tree, or the hidden kisses behind the barracks at night. Marco was your family now, the promise of a life with him seemed perfect, almost too perfect. Happiness had found its way back into your life quicker than you had expected.
“Graduation day!” Screamed Sasha as you walked back into the shared bedroom after breakfast. “have you chosen where you will go?”
“I didn’t make it into the top ten” You sulked a little “I wanted to go into the Miltary Police...”
“ah... because of Marco and Jean?” You nodded and sighed “but the Wall Garrison will be good no? At least then you can probably still see him...”
“But he will be in the inner walls... I won’t see them”
“hey you know, Nile Dok will be at the graduation, maybe you can talk to him...”
“Nile?” You laughed a little “He won’t care about a nobody like me” Scratching the back of your head you looked down “ I will think of something”
“You and Marco are really close huh...” She smiled
“yeah” You nodded, blushing a little “Now I guess, that dream is over”
The two of you headed down towards the others who were all chatting away over the top ten students, of course Marco and Jean were on the list, along with the usual suspects of Annie, Reiner and Bertholdt.
“Reiner...” You thought to yourself “It can’t be him...” You had seen him around, you had never really spoken to him, but seeing the three names together brought a memory back of a young boy handing you a piece of his bread.
“Surprise” you heard a voice behind you, as you turned you saw a towering man with blonde hair standing behind you.
“I... I” You stuttered looking up into his hazel eyes “I never thought it was you...”
“I didn’t want to spoil the surprise” He laughed, patting your shoulder “I knew it was you from the moment I saw you”
“I..” You were lost for words “thankyou... for the bread.”
“You remembered that huh?”
“it was the only act of kindess I felt in that time... until I came here”
“so have you chosen?”
“hm?”
“where you will go?”
“Wall Garrison I guess... I didn’t get into the top ten so..”
“ah.. you wanted to go to the Military Police?”
“yeah... with Jean and Marco”
“you worked hard, I am surprised someone like you didn’t surpass me”
“You? You always had it in you...” You sighed remembering all the times Reiner had been top of the classes. Never realising it had been him that had shown you that one slice of kindness after the fall of Wall Maria. “What about you?”
“I am not sure yet...” He sighed “Annie is going to the Police I know that much...”
“ah... good on her” You felt slightly jealous. Annie had been a fearless student with top grades all round. Everyone had spoken about her being such a brilliant fighter.
“I should go” He smiled “I will see you later I hope”
“yeah, I hope so too” you smiled “it was nice to finally...speak again” You smiled as he waved off.
You sat with Sasha, Jean and Marco in the mess hall, the three of you in silence. Marco holding onto your hand under the table, squeezing it now and then, knowing that your heart was slightly broken at the idea that the two of you wouldn’t see much of eachother after graduation.
“It’s going to be okay” Jean smiled “I will speak to Nile myself” He said with a smug look on his face “Right Marco?”
“yeah!” Marco nodded. Sasha smiled towards me.
“THE TITAN!” You heard a scream coming from Armin running towards everyone “Theres a breach! The colassal titan showed its ugly head and broke through the wall! Trost is being evauated as we speak”
“what...” Sasha muttered “how...”
“It came back?” You responded. Marco squeezed your hand tightly
“We have to go!” Keith screamed “Go prepare yourself for battle cadets!”
All of the cadets in the messhall went to the basement and started to prepare. Armin was shaking in the corner, while Eren and Mikasa stood watching, Eren shouting at him.
“Don’t worry” Marco whispered to me as I started to breath faster “Don’t you worry about anything” He grabbed your hand and squeezed it tightly “I am here, I am here with you no matter what happens today. I promised to protect you and I will...”
”Marco...” You looked at him “What if this is it?”
”Then we will have the whole of our next lives to spend together” He smiled “But that won’t happen, not today my love”
“You have so much hope... I wish I could be like you”
“you are much greater than I could ever be” he smiled, kissing your cheek “now lets get going” He took you by the hand and the two of you headed to the courtyard to await orders.
Keith shouted for a at least ten minutes before stating anything to do with the mission at hand... Of course Keith wouldn’t be involved with any of this mission, you all knew he would be hiding behind the walls, avoiding combat at all cost.
“Cadets will be in the middle with the support guard. Your mission is to defend the wall until the evacuation is completed!” Keith screamed as you all started to gather in the court yard
“one more day and we would of been in the interior” Jean sighed, as Daz threw up with Krista stroking his back. Marco stood in silence, staring at you.
Jean stormed towards Eren while you looked at the floor. Not knowing how you were really feeling.
“[Y/N]” Marco cooed “Stay with me...” you looked to him, he was close to you. You nodded and he quickly kissed your head before the two of you moved out
You crashed through the window of the headquarters only to find that only a few of you actually made it back
“so... so many people aren’t here” Jean whispered, looking amongst him at the lack of fellow cadets “How many.... how many died under my command...”
“Jean...” You stepped forward, to be ignored as Jean noticed something, he walked towards the table to see two pairs of legs,
“what the fuck..” Jean muttered “Get out!” he screamed
“We... we” the girl stuttered as they showed their faces,
“Are you the supply team?”
“yes...” she responded, shaking
“You! YOU WERE SUPPOSE TO BE OUT THERE HELPING US!”
“They surround....surrounded us we coul...”
“Do you know how many people died because they ran out of supplies! DO YOU!” As Jean started to lose his cool, there was a loud crash as a titans head crashed through the wall.
“there is too many of us...” Marco stated “they can smell us, we need to move in”
I turned to see the titan staring at us, their eyes wide, but then, as Jean turned a fist met with the titans face, flying it away from the building
“what the f...” Jean responded.
Conny, Mikasa and Armin burst through the hole, explaining the situation about a titan which seemed to be ignoring them but fighting all the titans, was it a weird abnormal who was defeating all the titans... what was going on?
“he is helping us... it sounds crazy” Conny started to talk “But you know what he has no interest in us, We were flying so close to him, and nothing!”
“Maybe he is our key out of here” Armin added “We should resupply and leave as soon as we can so this titan can get us out of here as quickly as possible”
“Agreed” Marco nodded,
“How do we know this titan is going to help us?!” Jean shouted, still mad at the supply team who had done nothing but be selfish in their retreat “He is a titan!”
“Trust me...” Conny smiled “he is not going to eat you or me!”
As you all moved into the building to head towards the supplies in the basement, Marco grabbed your arm and pulled you to the side, Jean turned to see this and ignored it, knowing too well how Marco was feeling at this point
“[Y/N]...” He whispered, bringing his head close to yours, almost touching foreheads “I thought...”
“Marco...” you touched his arm, wanting to hold him close to you. “It’s okay, we are still here..” you cooed in his ear, trying to calm the nervous man “you will be in the interior before you know it tomorrow” You rubbed his arm slightly, moving it towards his back, bringing you into an embrace. He sunk his head into your shoulder and stayed their for a moment. You closed your eyes hoping this was all a dream, that you were still tucked up in bed waiting to be woken by an excited Sasha, but this wasn’t a dream, this was the nightmare of a life which you were living in.
“You know I won’t let anymore titans take my family...” You muttered, holding Marco close to you “I won’t let it happen again...”
“I love you” He whispered tightening his embrace for a moment before pulling away to be able to kiss you. Your heart beat became calmer because of him, you felt your stress ease away a little, hoping that this was the end of it all.
“We better catch up..” he sighed, holding your hand and the two of you ran down to the others.
It wasn’t long before you were all back on the roof of the headquarters watching the titan who had taken down so many of its own kind, pinned against the building being eaten by the other titans.
You all stood watching in horror, this titan had been your key to get out and now, it seemed that light of hope was being eaten.
“Oh no...” Armin stuttered looking to the left of the building “That is the titan... who ate Thomas” You all watched as the huge titan launched forward and bit down on the titan which had eaten Thomas throwing it onto the remaining titans.
“what the...” you muttered, Marco was behind you, you could feel his breath on your neck. The titan who had taken down all of its fellow titan fell to the floor, steam covering it’s body. However Mikasa, who was fixed on the titan suddenly flew down...
It was Eren....
Marco sat down next to you by the benches outside, you sat there with your head in your hands, reliving every moment of the days events.
“ [Y/N] are you okay?”
“What just happened...” you cried “look how many of us made it back...” You raised you head, noticing the lack of people in the area. “And now we have to act like nothing happened... to be silent”
“I guess because of Eren...” Marco sighed, he placed his arm around you and nuzzled his head into your shoulder “It will be okay I promise”
“Will it though? I hope...” You sighed, closing your eyes “You and Jean can get to the interior tonight, you will be safer there”
“I won’t leave you...” he whispered “not like this”
He stood up and reached out for your hand, leading you down an empty alleyway, smiling he kissed you softly on the lips, his hands cupping your face. Although this wasn’t the time to be finding secret spots to kiss, Marco knew that it may bring some happiness and love into this dreadful day. He deepened the kiss, letting his tongue force his way into your mouth as your arms wrapped around him, the ODM gear clanging as they touched. He pulled away from you and brushed the hair out of your face, looking at you smiling. “tonight”
“hm?”
“Let’s...” he went red in the face “finally spend the night together” You blushed and your heart pounded, nodding you accepted this. After all, Marco had promised you the world, you wanted everything for Marco, and your heart fluttered at the thought of spending the night with Marco...
There was loud bang, the two of you ran into the street to Jean, the group looked up to see smoke rise.
“what is that?” You shouted “why is there smoke?”
“One way to find out [Y/N]” Reiner responded, shooting up and flying towards the smoke
“Wait Reiner!” You shouted, shooting up following him, everyone followed... to find the smoke was leading towards where Eren was being kept.
Today, although there was a great loss, humanity had finally had it’s first victory against the titans and it was all thanks to Eren, being able to move a boulder with his titan form, plugging up the hole within Trost city.
Before you knew it, the day was over. You returned to the barracks to find Jean, sitting on the floor near the mess hall. You approached him. Wondering where Marco had got to.
“Have you seen Marco?” You asked Jean, who was sitting his head in his hands
“Jean?” You squatted down next to him, placing a hand on his shoulder “are you okay?”
“I could of died today... if it hadn’t been for Marco, Annie and Conny I wouldn’t be here”
“it’s a good thing they were...” you responded “you are here now that is all that matters”
“I haven’t seen Marco, maybe he got caught up with the Wall Garrison...He will show up soon enough”
“I hope so...” you sighed, worrying. Your stomach felt tense, the feeling of dread coursing through your body “I really... hope so”
“Hey...[Y/N]” Jean looked up at you, removing your hand from his shoulder you sighed “You and Marco... really” He stopped for a moment to think about his words “I’m glad you found each other” he smiled. The two of you sat together silently for a while, hoping that Marco would appear....
“Hey.....” Jean stopped, it was the 3rd day of cleaning the bodies of the fallen comrades in Trost, along with the others, you were set to try and identify the bodies of the fallen, to be able to allow families to know, that their loved one had not died in vain. You spotted Jean freeze in front of a body, his hands raised. “Is that you... Marco?” You walked towards Jean however Reiner, grabbed you by the arm
“[Y/N] are you okay?” He asked, you looked up at him, his mask covering his nose and mouth
“I... it’s just so many people... died”
“That is the sad part of war...” He responded “You will get through this...” he muttered, looking over your shoulder to see Jean speaking to the nurse about the body he had found “Come with me, it’s time you had a break” he moved to stand next to you as he pulled you away from going to Jean. You turned back to look, but still didn’t know what Jean had found.
“hey Reiner...” You looked up at him, “Have you seen Marco?”
“Marco? No, I haven’t i’m afraid..” He sighed “Maybe he went to the Interior already?”
“Do you think so? Maybe the Police picked him up on the way back from Trost...” You thought about it for a moment thinking that maybe he had, not being able to tell yourself or Jean about it. Your heart felt a little hopeful for a moment before it came crashing down again... He would of written... In fact he wouldn’t of left, not after what he had said in the Alley way
“Were you and Marco...?” Reiner asked, looking down
“Sort of...” You smiled to yourself under the mask “We were going to think about it more after we graduated... but after all this...” You looked down, the smile fading from your lips “Maybe it will be harder now...”
“ah... I see. I was kind of hoping you would want to...” He paused for a moment, probably to think if it was the right time to say anything at all “Well I know you wanted some extra training and well... I thought I could help”
“It’s a little late...” You sighed “I didn’t get into the top ten...”
“still, you can work your way up!” He patted your back “Let me help you” he smiled as the two of you headed back to headquarters....
“Marco....” Jean stood in front of you, holding a torn off cadet badge in his hand “Marco....he’s...” Your stomach flipped, making your knees week and your head light, the lights suddenly felt brighter than before as the room became blurry and all you could see was the badge in Jeans hand. You clasped your hands against your mouth as tears started to stream down your face, Your breathing became difficult as you felt your lungs tense up. Taking a step back you shook your head as Jean closed his eyes, taking a deep breath “[Y/N]... I found him today..”
“no...” you whispered “no... it can’t be him...” You cried out as Jean came towards you, pulling you into an embrace. Others entered the room as Jean held you in his arms, tears trickling from his eyes too.
“He...” Jean stopped for a moment, holding you tighter “he died alone... I can’t even tell you how he died.... I’m sorry”
“Jean... what will we do...” You sobbed more, making Jeans shirt wet with your tears. “Please.... I can’t do this anymore...” You closed your eyes and saw Marcos bright smile in your mind, his hands reaching out for you, your sobs became louder as you knew this could never be real again, Marco was gone...
You knew this could of happened but to Marco, you never thought that happiness which was waiting for you after graduation would be taken from you by a titan... Not when you had known Marco would be safe inside the interior.
“If this had happened a week later... he would of been safe...” You sobbed, holding onto Jeans shirt “Why.... why did he..”
“[Y/N].... i’m going to go into the Corps...” Jean said, nervously, as he rubbed your back “I will avenge Marco’s death even if it means I die in the process”
You could hear mutterings from the others in the room as Jean announced this. You didn’t look at them, you didn’t listen, instead you and Jean stood there, clinging onto each other, both heartbroken and now without the one person who always knew how to brighten your days gone. You would never see Marcos beautiful eyes again, nor his sweet smile as he came to you under the tree to help you.
“He told me I could be a good leader, and now I have to follow what my heart is telling me... I can’t let this happen again..”
“I will follow you...” You whispered, “I will go too... for Marco”
That evening the fires were lit and the mass funeral was held in honour of all the fallen soldiers whose bodies were found, the sad thing was that none of you could ever name the soldiers who were eaten, their bodies never to be found, families to be left in the unknown about how their loved ones died.
You stood there, watching the flames grow and dance in the breeze.
“I will never forget you...” You whispered as a tear trickled down your cheek.
You felt a presence next to you, you turned to see Reiner, holding a handkerchief, offering it to you. As you took it he held your hand tightly
“I’m sorry” He cooed, “about Marco...he was a good guy...”
“thanks... Reiner” you tried to smile however the weight of the world couldn’t allow even a moment of happiness to lighten your face.
“I will look after you... I will keep you safe for Marco... I promise you that, I won’t let anyone hurt you” Reiner still held onto your hand tightly “Something I should of done from the beginning...” He looked to the flames and sighed.
You felt alone in this world once again, and in that moment, just like the day Wall Maria fell... Reiner had come to comfort you once again.
Part one finished! This will only be two parts I think... I feel so bad writing this story man... Marco...

But now he has a new girl, he just brought up in conversation and now acts like nothing he has ever said or done is real.
He wants to call me... from his new girls home to talk but in reality I just want to scream so much. How could he do that... a talk, with the girl who doesnt even know I exist. After the two of us have been in each others lives for over 10 years?!
So.. .maybe it would spoil my fanfics. I am sorry.

Waking up next to the one you love is one of the most beautiful feelings in the world. Especially in this cruel world in which we live in. One filled with fear, filled with death. Lying next to him, I turned to look at his sleeping face, how peaceful it was. His blonde hair messy, covering his forehead, he looked calm, which for him, was rare. He always seemed so stressed about our work. Although when we were together, it was completely different, like the man everyone knew and respected changed, into a gentle, caring and loving man… the man I loved
Erwin Smith, Commander of the Survey Corps.
“are you watching me again Hange?” He grumbled under his breath, his eyes squinting slightly as he tried to open them, but his body wanted more sleep, he was exhausted.
“no…” I muttered, but a smile touched my lips “…yes” he smiled slightly, before I felt his arms wrap around me. I nuzzled my head into his chest, listening to his calm heartbeat. He was always so loving, like he never wanted to let me go, I saw how he looked at me during meetings, his eyes undressing me from across the room. He never let anyone know though, our relationship was a secret, mainly because we had agreed it would have got in the way, they would have separated us on the expeditions and I didn’t want our comrades risking their lives to save me, just because I was with our commander. However, I was sure Levi and Mike knew, they always hinted at it when we had been around the fire, drinking and having somewhat of an enjoyable night together.
But that’s how it had all started, after Mike and Levi had left us, Erwin had admitted his affections towards me, probably knowing that since the moment I laid eyes on him, I had been completely in love with him. It has been two years now, since we first kissed. Nothing has come in between us since. Most nights we found ourselves making love, as a way of releasing our stress, making ourselves feel good again, and to remind ourselves of the feeling of being alive.
“Good morning” he mumbled, squeezing me tightly “my darling”
“good morning commander” I giggled back, as I felt his fingers brush through my hair, his leg over mine, playing footsie from under the blanket. I felt myself wanting him, as his lips kissed my forehead, my nose, then my lips. His embrace was so warm, it was the only place I found myself feeling safe.
Then there was a knock on the door
“Commander!” It was one of the newer recruits, from the 104th training squad “Commander!”
“Hmm?” Erwin replied, a look of panic on his face, as he was naked, in bed with the section commander. “what is it?”
“Sir, it’s the titans we captured, they were killed! We went to Section Commander Hange’s room but she wasn’t there!” My heart sank, Sawney and Bean had been killed?! I didn’t understand, tears started to form in my eyes, I wanted to scream out but Erwin was quick to cover my mouth before I would burst into screams “Do you know where she could be?”
“Ask Moblit! I’m sure he will know”
“Sir! We have, he told us to tell you”
“tell him I’ve probably ran off” I whispered
“She’s probably running around somewhere! Go have a look around we need to set off this afternoon on the expedition to try and cut titan numbers down near the forests” Erwin shouted back “I’ll come out in a few minutes” He said, looking at me, his face full of disappointment of what could have happened his morning
“Yes Commander!” We heard his footsteps go down the corridor, and Erwin sat up
“I guess it’s time to get up” he grumbled, brushing his fingers through his hair, I rubbed his muscular back and smiled
“Yes, it is commander” I watched him get up, his body was covered in scars, but that was the same for me, I too was covered in them, but to me, they were beautiful, they were marks of survival, that once again we didn’t die, we lived on.
“Get up Hange!” He laughed throwing a shirt at me “We have to go” I picked up the shirt, however he hadn’t noticed he had in fact thrown one of his at me, giggling I put it on, as he turned to look at me he just smiled “What am I going to do with you!” He walked over to me, unbuttoning it slowly “If I had time…” He kissed me again, however restrained himself this time, as he knew now, we had to get up and leave.
“I found her” Erwin called out, as I followed behind him, my head hung low “She was…”
“Taking a shit no doubt” Levi hissed, looking over at me “Hey shitty glasses! You always pick the wrong times”
“I am very regular thank you” Although thinking about it, I was feeling a little bloated these days, maybe it was the lack of working out and the extra food I had been stealing. “Morning everyone” I waved, they were already to leave, I felt awful for making Erwin look bad by turning up late, but of course they were not going to question it.
“Section Commander there you are!” Moblit came running “The titans! They are!”
“I know! Who did it! Who killed my titans! Sawney! Bean! I will avenge you!” I screamed, raising my hands into the air
“Cut it out” Levi snapped “They are titans not humans”
“how else am I supposed to study titans when all the ones I need to look at you kill!” I screamed back “Levi! Help me capture two more!”
“No”
“Please Levi! Just… Just one mor”
“You two, stop” Erwin butted in “We have more important things on our case, the Military Police will deal with it now”
“Commander!” I cried out “Two more! Please!”
“No, I am not risking the lives of our comrades for you to have two more pets”
“Moblit?”
“Section commander please! Let’s not risk it again!”
“I will get them myself” I crossed my arms and looked away from the three men who were all against me “You will thank me when I have found out the source of the titans”
We left later that day, leaving into the titan filled land behind Wall Maria. Hoping to slim down the number of titans so one day we would make it to the basement in Shiganshina, it was Erwin’s dream to find out what was down there. It seemed peaceful, however you never knew when titans would appear. We were heading to the villages near the forests, to set up a base camp for future expeditions, we would clear it out and hopefully be able to use it in the future. I could see Erwin up ahead of me, he always positioned me close to him, so he was able to keep an eye on me, and so I could also see him, keeping us from worrying on the field of battle.
Once we had reached the village it was just a matter of time before we were clearing out the titans, Levi was flying through the air slicing through titan’s napes quickly, followed closely by Mike. The two of them were an unstoppable force of nature.
But then I noticed, a small 5 metre titan, he was standing, staring up at me from the roof top.
“Hello little one” I smiled down at him “aren’t you a cutie! Do you want to come home with me!”
“Section commander” I heard Moblit scream “No!”
“But look at him!” I smiled pointing down at him,
“MOVE!” Moblit screamed, as I felt a hand reaching down, I anchored against the next building, and started to fly through the air however it was too late, he grabbed me, his tight grip around me, I felt one of my legs being crushed by his grip “SECTION COMMANDER!” Moblit screamed. “HELP!” Moblit started to fly through the air to kill the titan but then I saw a flash of movement, followed by the titan’s grip loosening, I fell from the air, I felt like I was falling forever, before I hit the cold hard ground….
“COMMANDER!” I heard someone shouting my name, as I looked around I saw Moblit flying towards me “COMMANDER!”
“What is it?”
“Hange! She…”
“What! What has happened?” My heart sunk at the sound of Moblit’s voice. What had happened to her? What had she done, I hated how she risked her life to get close to titans, I was surprised Moblit was still alive and hadn’t suffered from a heart attack. “Moblit! Where is she!”
“She… is...” He pointed behind him, Mike had her in his arms, carrying her limp body
“no…” I muttered, my heart sunk, was she…. Dead? I thought back to the morning, her smiling face beaming up at me, her soft lips on mine. “Take her back to headquarters, Mike go with Moblit, take your squad”
“yes commander”
“The rest of us, clear the rest of the titans and let’s move out” I had to stay calm, if I freaked out now I would find myself killed too, she must have been alive, I had to tell myself that, she couldn’t be dead, she had so much more to give, I had so much more to give her… I couldn’t bare the thought of living in this world without her. I wanted this expedition to be over, I wanted to be by her side, I didn’t want to be out here without her near me, knowing she was safe, knowing she was alive.
That evening I rushed back, Mike was waiting for me at the door of the medical bay
“Where is she?!” I cried out to Mike, as I walked quickly towards him “Is she okay!?”
“It’s… going to be okay” Mike sighed “Her legs though, I thought they were broken but she has twisted both her ankles, she may be bedridden for a while, she is too strong for that dam titan”
“Thankgod…” I muttered
“Erwin, it will be okay” He put his hand on my shoulder “I promise… but you should speak to Moblit… he ran some tests and well...”
“what?”
“Just go ask Moblit” I walked through the doors, the corridor seemed to be never ending as I headed towards the ward. Levi was by the door, leaning against the door post, Mike followed me to the door, as I walked in Moblit stood up to greet me.
I saw her, lying there, peacefully. She wasn’t awake, her hands laid there by her side, her glasses had been smashed to pieces, leaving cuts on her face.
“How… how is she” I said, reaching for her hand, but stopping myself when I realised who I was in front of “How is she?”
“Commander…” Moblit stuttered “Did you know if Hange had any relationships with anyone here?”
“no…” I lied, looking at Hange “Why?”
“Well… I ran some tests, she was looking a little larger than usual… and well… She is erm…” He scratched the back of his head “er… erm…pre”
“She’s pregnant” Levi butted in “Shitty glasses is pregnant”
“huh…. What?”
My heart froze for a moment, I felt like the whole room was spinning around me…. Hange was pregnant, and I had let her out on expeditions… was I really that cruel? Did she know? But she would have told me… she wouldn’t have kept that a secret from me, that was unlike her.
I looked at her, she was carrying my child… my child… I never thought I could become a father, this would mean I could have a family. A smile touched my lips, a tear forming in my eye.
“Commander are you okay?” Moblit said, staring at me
“I think he needs a moment, he will need to file paper work on this” Mike butted in, moving out the way of the door, “Moblit, if you wouldn’t mind…”
“Oh… of course! I will get on with my paper work”
“Don’t tell anyone about this” Mike said “it’s for the best”
“Yes… Of course, sir” Moblit ran out,
“Shall we?” Levi said “Congratulations Erwin” Levi said, his voice seemed smug, almost like he was enjoying this moment. “There will be a small version of shitty glasses running around…Tch”
“Let’s go” Mike said, turning around and patted Levi on the shoulder, making Levi brush down his shoulder before the two of them left the room, I was alone with Hange… at last.
I sat on the side of her bed, cupping her calm peaceful face, her breathing was slow, gentle. Like nothing in the world could have hurt her.
“My darling…” I cried out, the emotions flowed, everything I had built up from the expedition after seeing her in Mike’s arms. The tears fell onto her chest “I thought I had lost you” My head rested against her chest, I could hear her heartbeat but I still couldn’t hold myself together. I was in despair, the thought that if she would have died today, I would of never of known she was carrying my child, that I was going to be a father. “I am never letting you out of my sight again… I promise” I kissed her cheek, hoping she would wake up, but it was a hopeless case. I sat there, my head on her chest, I closed my eyes, dreaming of the small child that was growing inside of her…
“Co…. Commander” I muttered, my voice weak from sleeping for too long. My vision was blurred, my head was spinning slightly. Where was I? The last thing I remembered was… titans? Had I been injured? I felt around for my glasses, finding them on the desk, my vision was soon visible as I noticed my goggles had been completely smashed up. Erwin was asleep on my stomach, his back hunched over the bed. I stroked his head, had he been here all night? I tried to sit up but my back was in pain, my ankles and legs hurt. I felt weak. I heard a slight grumble from Erwin as he started to wake up. Opening his eyes slowly because of the movement from me.
“Hang...” he groaned “Darling…” His hand found his way to mine and he held onto it tightly. He slowly rose up, his eyes still partly shut from sleep.
“You should go to bed Erwin” I sighed “Have you been here all night?” He nodded as he rubbed his eyes, hoping to wake up quicker. “Go get some sleep”
“I can’t” he groaned “I want to stay here” he sounded like a spoilt child, rubbing his eyes and groaning that he didn’t want to go. It was adorable in his own special way. As he stopped rubbing, I saw his bloodshot eyes, his blue eyes were dull, tired and sore.
“have you been crying?” I asked gently, holding his hand again, trying to sit up
“hange… I was so worried, I would of come sooner but, they would of all been titan food if I had taken you back”
“Out of everything you should know I was okay, you have to keep working”
“Also… I can’t let you out on expeditions anymore”
“WHAT?” I shouted, before I cupped my mouth in surprise of my own voice, my heart sank, was it because I had been too close to a titan and Erwin was getting defensive over me because I had been hurt? “Why!” I moaned, my head hurting.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” He looked into my eyes “Hange”
“Tell you what?” I sat there confused, what was I supposed to of told him? I looked back at him, my eyebrow raised, my heart beating fast. “Huh? What has happened?”
“Hange… you really don’t know?”
“Know what Erwin?!” I snapped back, I didn’t have a clue what he was on about at this very moment in time, what was he going on about? Had the sleepiness got to his head and made him paranoid of the future? “What are you on about?”
“you’re….” He put his hand on my lower stomach. “Hange”
“What?”
“You’re pregnant” He said, a smiling touching his lip, tears welling up in his eyes. I looked at Erwin, before looking at his hand on my lower stomach. “We are going to have a baby Hange” I felt my heart pound within my chest, my head buzzing with excitement. Tears welled up in my eyes as Erwin came closer and hugged me tightly. “My darling we are going to have a family”
“Erwin…I…. how do you?”
“Moblit told me, he doesn’t know about us, but he was very confused by how it could have happened” He laughed a little. He kissed my forehead “So please, I can’t have you leaving on expedition, I can’t have the possibility of losing you, and our child”
I sat there in complete shock, not knowing what to say, but I had never seen Erwin so happy, his eyes had lost their dull sleepy look and were bright and shining again, his touch was so gentle, it was like he was holding onto the more delicate feather in the world.
“Erwin…” I smiled, putting a hand on my lower stomach, I had a little child growing inside of me, and for the first-time science didn’t matter to me, I was going to be a mother, and the mother of Erwin’s child.
“We have to prepare, we will need a bigger room, maybe even a house on the headquarters grounds, so we have room for baby, I wonder if it will be a boy or a girl, I think I would like a little girl to be honest beca….”
“Erwin, we have a long time to wait yet before our baby will be here” I laughed, watching his excitement burst out of him “So don’t worry too much”
“I’m going to be a father” He said, looking down at my stomach “A father…” A smile forming on his lips, he was like an innocent child.
“Although if it is a girl, imagine how protective you will be… let alone Mike and Levi”
“She will always be safe with us around, she will never be in fear” Erwin smiled “Because I have to protect my beautiful family” He smiled, holding my hand tightly.
7 Months flew past, Erwin had to of course go out on expeditions, however always returned home to me, He was not as risky as he uses to on the field, knowing he had to come home to me, and a rather large bump which was our child. Levi would spend many hours just staring in disbelief at the sight of me, meanwhile Mike was sniffing out, believing it would be a little boy. Erwin had to tell the Survey Corps about the two of us, a lot of the squad wasn’t even surprised by it all. We had been given the top floor of the barracks for ourselves, Erwin and Mike had spent a lot of time rebuilding it, decorating and getting it ready for the baby.
“shit…” I felt liquid trickle from my legs “Erwin…. ERWIN!” I screamed as I felt pain fly through me. The commander came running into the room, sliding a little on the floor, his shirt half unbuttoned, his hair a mess.
“What? Is it time!?” He smiled, although a look of panic was on his face.
“Get the medics NOW!” I screamed as I laid down on the floor in pain “Erwin I swear to god...!”
“I’m going! Going!” He shouted, flying out the door as quickly as he could, not even putting his shoes on. “LEVI!” I could hear him shouting as he ran down the stairs of the barrack building “MIKE!”
“god... don’t send them two up…” I moaned as I flung my head back.
Erwin decided instead of just finding the medics, he would just shout throughout the grounds that he needed help, causing us to have an audience in the corridor waiting. Apart from Levi who was staying well away from the drama happening in the corridor.
5 hours later, after a lot of pain, I heard a cry, Erwin’s face was bright red, sweating and the look of horror was on his face, I was guessing he never really thought about what I would have to go through to get the child out.
“It’s a…” The medic looked at me and smiled “It’s a boy” Erwin smiled, opening his arms to take our little baby boy into his own. As he looked down at his little body, the smile I saw, it was like nothing I had ever seen from Erwin. He sat there on the floor, sliding over to me, to show me our child.
“look” Erwin said “look at him” I looked at our child, who was resting in Erwin’s arms. A smile forming on my face, I was exhausted but the sight of him made me want to run around skipping and singing for hours.
“Leon” Erwin said, looking at me “What about Leon?”
“I like it” I smiled, “Leon Smith” Erwin kissed me on the head smiling to himself
“Section commander!” Moblit screamed through the door “What did you have”
“It’s a boy!” I shouted back “Leon Smith!”
“I promise you, Hange, Leon… I will never let any harm come to either of you”
Here's a prompt! Eruhan. Erwin finds out Hanji is pregnant before she does (she gets hurt on an expedition, and the medics figure it out), and he has to tell her, then the general, baby stuff that ensues :)
