Bryan’s wife, Aoife, was killed by a witch out of control
They had always been close, but the blasted witch couldn’t keep his powers under his command - or at least, that’s what he, weeping, told the Turners when they arrived
Bryan tried to kill the witch, but he escaped and, for that, Bryan will never fully forgive himself
The Turners found Bryan in this desperate situation, his mind a mess, and they cared for him, trained him, and gave him a purpose
It was the Turners who put the gun into his hand and told him how, in order to prevent such tragedies from occurring again, they must find the witches; find them all
His debt to that family will never be filled, as far as Bryan is concerned
As time passed, Bryan remembered how much Aoife had cared for the witch, he remembered how close they had been and knew the affection between them had not been faked for a moment
It is for this reason that Bryan is called the ‘conscientious killer,’ it is for this reason he must be certain
One can’t be too careful of a witch, true, but death is a messy business and, however pain he’s known, Bryan doesn’t intend to see more blood spilled than necessary
Isn’t that the entire point, afterall? To protect innocent lives, to end the bloodshed, one life at a time?
For years, Bryan struggled with his grief and guilt, but he’s coming out the other side, now
A more earnest man you’ll never find and his compassion is great
He’s not afraid to joke, though, and actually feels humor is a great balm
Don’t think you’ll get off easy, though, just because of that - humor conceals a lot of evils
Looks like a cinnamon roll, but could actually kill you
Does actually quite like people notwithstanding and enjoys getting to know them
“Nice town you got here,” he says with a big smile to a rando local
He’ll def mingle to get a sense of who people are and what’s going on
He likes to know who he’s hunting - to prevent any mistakes, to make it as humane as possible, and ngl also so he can anticipate the kind of moves they might make *actual skull emojis*
Def has that brand of charm that comes only from actual kindness
Takes care of the Turner witch hunters on a more moral level tbh

But in a group, he’s all jokes and snark and always annoying the hell out of Guy Spencer for fun smh

Pr sardonic, though, v calm - no one has ever seen him panic (I mean, after his wife’s murder - he def lost his shit then, but hasn’t since)
For all that he seems so open, however, his heart is locked up tighter than Fort Knox
The loss of Aoife left it bleeding and tbh he doesn’t think he’ll ever fully recover from that

But that’s never stopped him from some harmless flirting
Generally, he just likes to get to know people but that doesn’t mean they get in as deep as they might think
The only people he really cares about are the Turner witch hunters
Nothing will ever distract him from his objective. It is paramount in both his mind and his heart.
