"Well hello there!" He yelled from behind the other's back
"Sorry to scare you" He said chuckling, not sorry at all.
"I know, right? I also may be trying to become a werewolf or something.â She shrugged, nodding as the man explained his reasoning. She almost felt bad that the library was closed, but the time of night was just right enough that it wasnât horrible to be walking about. Even if their reasonings were different, she still felt somewhat safer being outside knowing there was another out.
Even if the logic was backwards. âItâs a good thing it isnât raining. The library picked a good day to be closed, I guess. If there is actually a good day for it to be closed. Personally, Iâd file a complaint with the librarian to see if a 24 hour one is possible. Because books.â The brunette nodded, taking a drink from her cup once more.
Breathing into his cup as he listened to the girl. He lowered the cup to talk. "That would be nice. But hey this way it forces me to get some sleep finally." He said half jokingly. The night was nice. And talking to a pretty girl was nice too. But man he longed for the embrace of his bed.
"You can see that again I couldn't imagine walking back to the rain." He looked up at the night sky. "Books are nice and all but they can be my greatest enemy sometimes too." He kicked the dirt and his brow twitched. "So names Owen, I'm drawing a blank on yours sorry."
Cooper didnât fancy himself much of the lone wolf type as the saying goes, he liked the company of people just fine but felt uncomfortable in his own skin like he couldnât quite rub the stench of time travel from his flesh. And he did try, he rubbed himself raw; blood welling up more often than not and staining his hands that familiar shade of crimson. War, war never leaves you boy. He couldnât justâŚtalk to anyone about it; he already felt like a grade A bastard every time he opened his mouth around Rossi and that pinched look of frustration crossed her features.
Iâm sorry seemed to loose itâs edge when it came tumbling forward in every conversation.
So he took to the cover of night, enjoying the cool air against his skin, sleeves rolled up to welcome the chill (and to better press his digits to the surface of his negation bracelet) the grass damp under foot, heâd kicked off his boots sometime before and simplyâŚrelaxed. The last thing he expected was company. Jerking in surprise he stood straight, bare feet slipping on the damp grass and promptly landing his dumb self flat on his ass against the tree. Pain lanced up, but heâd had worse; it was a welcome reminder âHolyââ he hisses, grimacing to look upwards toward the otherâs outline under the pale moon âHello to you too Owen.â he grumbles, slowly climbing to his feet once again and brushing grass off of himself.
âWould it be much of a surprise if I simply said I like the night?â he returns mildly.
Owen couldn't help but laugh as his friend fell over. "Sorry dude." came out shortly after his laughing fit subsided. "Didn't mean to startle you." He had offered his hand all be it too late but the gesture was there. He would normally offer to brush the dirt off his friend but since he had fallen on his ass they friendly gesture would come across kinda pervy. "Well no I guess I could the say the same sometimes."
He couldn't lie there was something about the night air and the moon light shining over the courtyard. "But tonight was a poorly timed study session ending in the Library closing on me. I barely got this." He said hold out his coffee. "I'd have got ya know if I knew you were here." He said with a shrug.
Delia didnât like being outside, but confining herself to her room and the school was⌠tiring. Instead, she had taken to a few laps around the courtyard, a cup of tea in hand and humming songs she didnât entirely even know. The sound of a mans voice should have startled her, but instead, she just made a raspberry noise, twirling to face the direction the voice came from. He may have been familiar, in better light. But for now, it was a blur of eyebrows that was slightly confusing. Her head cocked and she widened her eyes, before taking a drink from her cup.
"Boredom. Probably some danger desire. Masochism. Who knows." The girl shrugged, leaning against the tree and staring up. It was oddly pretty; better than sunlight. It was probably only her that thought so, but she didnât care. "Why are you out? Other than, you know, whatever hot drink fix you had a hankering for." She pointed in the general direction of the cup he had, before offering some semblance of a smile.
Owen couldn't help but laugh under his breath at the girl's raspberry. It was nice to know he wasn't only one out at this hour. He knew the girl from somewhere, sure they probably bumped into each other around campus but he was sure he'd seen her in a class or even in the dining hall.Â
"Sounds like a great time." He said grinning at the Delia. He took a hearty sip of his coffee. He looked at the sky through the branches of the tree and noted that his night time walks had to be a weekly thing. He shook his head as she posed her question. "Library closed. Have to walk back to my room, thought I might as well go for a walk first."
"We could go hang out in the yard or something? Thats pretty calming if you ask me."
"That sounds fuckin lovely."
âNo. Thatâs no where near what Iâm saying.â
"What. The. Fuck. You're kinda pissin me off man."
"Because I want to have a  smoke. Is that a problem?â
"Well I guess fucking not. Do whatever the hell you want."
"I always hate it when students are almost my age. But yet again I teach college kids here. So Owen um, do you want me to try and fix your funk for you?
"Sorry for being born too soon then... What exactly do you think you could do to fuckin help me?"
âI canât not speak abnormally.
Some normal blessing removed from the campus.â
"You're not making fucking sense man. You saying so shit about one fuckin with us? Some magic or some shit?
"Ok there sweetie, itâs all ok. So, whats your name, age,and power? Donât mind me though, just curious.
"Ugh, whatever. Owen, 21, reality manipulation if you must know so damned much. You must excuse my anger I'm in a funk I just can't shake today..."
âWell no one has slept on the right side of the bed.â
"The fuck are you talking about?"
"Ok there you need to like take it down a few levels there, I was just asking you a question here, no need to get rude."
"Excuse me for not loving this fucking shit day. I'll try to not be rude."
Did someone wake up on the wrong side of the bed? It doesn't matter who you're talking to or what the situation is, for the next two days you simply can't stop spouting hateful things.
"Ugh Just fuck todayâŚ"
"I got a bit bored I guess I wanted to go around on a walk or somethin." Holly shifted her weight to her other foot "Am I not supposed to be here?"
"I don't know" Owen scowled "You're the teacher you tell me."
âIs it not a good thing?â
"God no, I just wanted some peace and quiet and now you're here. Whatever what the hell do you want."
"Ugh why are you here?"
The fall air nipped at his ears. A late night in the library ended abruptly by the librarian coming to tell him it was closing time. His thin jacket not enough to brace him for the sudden drop in temperature tonight. He Made for his dorm when he remembered the cafe was open late, but was still closing soon. His pace quickened and in a few minutes he arrived at cafe a mere ten minutes before closing. He orders his coffee and with a quick thank you and goodnight he's out the door back on track to his room.
Owen sips his coffee as he walks. Passing other who were on horrid sleeping schedules like himself, all looking just as tired as him and mildly bitter of him have coffee and them not having any. He got to the courtyard and saw the moon high in the sky, the only light source, besides the dim yard lights. With a heavy sigh he starts to walk about before noticing someone standing by a large tree. "So what brings you out here so late?" He asks as he creeps up beside the person.
