It is my firm belief that Marty always always had the intention of staying in 1955 with Emmett. He loved the time he spent there with him the first time although he was at that time very anxious to get back home. But by the events of the beginning of part 3, Marty was done with his so called "future" and totally planned on staying back in 55!

You can tell by the way he acts around 55 Emmett. He's just witnessed the man get struck by lightning and disappear, basically die in front of him! And that's after he witnesses his 1985 self get shot and die! So yeah, he's all mopey and sad about it but ultimately relieved that The Doc's not dead!

The only reason he leaves to go back to 1885 is because that version of Emmett ends up getting shot and dying. And he can't let that happen so he goes to save him. But I guarantee you, had things worked out differently, Marty intended to accompany Emmett back to 1985 and then turn right around and head back to 55 to be with Emmett! 😔

Every day, I'm mad at the fact that there's not a version of Rubi with her being lesbian, I mean, Rubi 2004 is clearly straight, BUT THE POTENTIAL WITH MARIBEL????? OMG, I need a sapphic version for Rubi. Just look at Maribel and Rubi from 2004

Without context, I'd believe that Rubi and Maribel were the couple based on how Rubi looked at her. Also, Maribel literally said to Rubi, "If want you wanted is money and houses I'd have give it to you." because she preferred to give her everything than to lose her.

Ough…fellers…I just watched The Night of the Hunter and gawd. What a picture. It’s kind of a cousin to OBWAT, set in the depression era American South, with some really interesting religious aesthetics (more the snake handling southern church than the Baptist kind, though) and a bank robbery plot with a jailhouse scene to top it all off. It’s very much its own film (and tonally much darker) but it scratches the same itch just looking at those old cars and outfits, the overalls and bonnets, and Robert Mitchum makes for the same kind of charismatic leading man as George Clooney.

And there’s a little girl breaking into song for no real reason! If that’s what you liked about OBWAT!

In the past two weeks, I’ve been iced in at college AND seen the most snow my hometown’s ever gotten in my life (pictures under the cut) and it’s got me thinking about an OBWAT snow day…Delmar trying to convince Pete to let him bring all the animals inside…Everett playing in the snow with his daughters and being way too competitive with snowballs…Penny making hot chocolate on the stove (none for Everett)…Pete slipping on the ice and busting his ass…

The movie is already so cozy but in more of a late summer way- imagine those old timey vibes in front of a fireplace with a knitted afghan or a quilt 😭
