a quick psa to anyone recently getting into greek mythology and is a victim of tumblr and/or tiktok misconceptions:
-there is no shame in being introduced to mytholgy from something like percy jackson, epic the musical or anything like that, but keep in mind that actual myths are going to be VERY different from modern retellings
-the myth of medusa you probably know (her being a victim of poseidon and being cursed by athena) isn't 100% accurate to GREEK mythology (look up ovid)
-there is no version of persephone's abduction in which persephone willingly stays with hades, that's a tumblr invention (look up homeric hymn to demeter)
-as much as i would like it, no, cerberus' name does not mean "spot" (probably a misunderstanding from this wikipedia article)
-zeus isn't the only god who does terrible things to women, your fav male god probably has done the same
-on that note, your fav greek hero has probably done some heinous shit as well
-gods are more complicated than simply being "god of [insert thing]", many titles overlap between gods and some may even change depending on where they were worshipped
-also, apollo and artemis being the gods of the sun and the moon isn't 100% accurate, their main aspects as deities originally were music and the hunt
-titans and gods aren't two wholly different concepts, titan is just the word used to decribe the generation of gods before the olympians
-hector isn't the villain some people make him out to be
-hephaestus WAS married to aphrodite. they divorced. yes, divorce was a thing in ancient greece. hephaestus' wife is aglaia
-ancient greek society didn't have the same concepts of sexuality that we have now, it's incorrect to describe virgin goddesses like artemis and athena as lesbians, BUT it's also not wholly accurate to describe them as aromantic/asexual, it's more complex than that
-you can never fully understand certain myths if you don't understand the societal context in which they were told
-myths have lots and lots of retellings, there isn't one singular "canon", but we can try to distinguish between older and newer versions and bewteen greek and roman versions
-most of what you know about sparta is probably incorrect
-reading/waching retellings is not a substitute to reading the original myths, read the iliad! read the odyssey! i know they may seem intimidating, but they're much more entertaining than you may think
greek mythology is so complex and interesting, don't go into it with preconcieved notions! try to be open to learn!

𝐀/𝐍: Hello little star!! Happy (late) birthday!! ⸜(｡˃ ᵕ ˂ )⸝♡ I truly hope you were able to enjoy your day and began to heal, getting sick on such a special occasion is so sad.. Unfortunatelly we can't predict life, but it'll pass soon. Wishing you a speedy recovery!!
𝐍𝐨𝐰, 𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐜𝐬:
♡ Oh, Mr. Kurosaki over here is such a tsundere at a first glance, most would never believe he is the most caring and loving boyfriend behind closed doors.. Truly a big black cat;
♡ You're his everything, he loves you more than anything in the whole world, so obviously he had a very special day planned for you!
➺ Ranmaru loves to cook, so he prepared an entire menu for your special day! He wanted to spoil you with your favorite meals and sweets. He also got you a very special gift, something that you'll cherish very deeply (maybe new makeup, perfume, books, jewelry, a collectible from your favorite series, even a song.. the list is endless).
♡ He had everything ready almost a full month in advance, but when he came home from work the evening before your birthday, he found you in the couch, a small trash basket on the floor, tissue box in hand and bundled in blankets, all while looking pouty and sad because you woke up sick.. He immediately put down his things and went to you to give you a kiss on the forehead, even if you whined about him getting sick too, before going to the kitchen to make you some soup to get something warm on your tummy before bed;
♡ See, Ranmaru didn't want to cancel his plans for your special day, so instead he decided to make the day a little softer and not as grand so you could heal and rest while still celebrating your birthday;
➺ He wanted you to have a good celebration even if you were sick, seeing you happy and well is his priority in life after all, you're his entire world and he needs you by his side. So taking care of you is his first instinct.
♡ He planned to stay home since the beginning, he's an introvert through and through and loves staying all cozy inside when he's free from work (heavens know how hard Ranmaru works, poor boy deserves a break..), so spending both your birthdays like that is everything he can wish for. Normally he will go all out if that's your style, but this year he was too busy to book a reservation and prefered to make everything himself;
♡ For as cold as he likes to (or rather, pretends to) be on the outside, he's the most gentle and warm partner in private and will always put your wellbeing before anything else. You could say you got a personal nurse until you're fully healed;
➺ He will be taking time off work and taking you to a doctor the day after your birthday, just to be sure it wasn't anything too bad and that you were alright.
♡ Again, Ranmaru simply will not care if you whine and complain about "not wanting to get him sick" all day long. He will be smothering you in kisses and cuddles, his warm body and constant affection made you so sleepy in the end that you passed out after eating your cake..
♡ It was a very special day to you both, your boyfriend got to celebrate you becoming a year older and you got to be treated like royalty while healing from a cold, so it was a win in the end ♡
♡ Also, he took you on a proper date outside once you were fully healed again. He got you to dress up all pretty and took as many pictures as he could, all while looking at you with the most 'in love' look ever for the entire day.. Talk about a man in love..
