For the past couple of months, I've been working on a documentary with @aelacallan @dobbinmark (plus a dream team of a Myanmar crew who don't want to be mentioned or aren't on Instagram) following two generations of female activists in Myanmar who are willing to risk it all to make their country better. Ma Thanda, in the photo above, is one of the women: she was a former political prisoner, tortured and right after she was released, her husband was killed by the military under mysterious circumstances. The film examines what many were probably asking at the country's historic election last week: what has changed in Myanmar since the reforms? For the past seven years, I've walked passed the #Erawan shrine at least twice a week. But I've never been inside. Today was the first time I ventured in. Inside, I closed my eyes and thought about the twenty lives that were lost, all the people injured and their families.
