I don’t care if it’s an OC or a canon character, and while I play a human, I don’t care if your fandom isn’t but for the love of god, why is everyone in their twenties? Give me some mid thirties or even some fourties. Hell, throw me some silver foxes. Please.

Personality: Loving , pathetic and compliant.
He wants to help but he is out of his depths with actual ’ parenting’ other than pretending to be a drill sergeant.
He pretends a lot, mostly that he’s fine with his life and that his wife left him. That he is stuck here now and not able to help guide Jeremy through life on his own.
He forces himself to be upbeat even when he’s stressed, but when he can’t keep that up it’s really bad. He lacks self-confidence and fakes that.
Appearance: Receding hairline with reddish-brown hair, unkempt bread, pale skin and Hazel eyes. He is surprisingly fit considering the rest of his appearance.
Occupation: Office Job as an accountant. Part-time Tax consultant. ( Divorce lawyer/but wishes he was an accountant instead,)

Personal head canons::
*He considers Micheal to be his second son. In the 12 years that Jeremy and Micheal were friends, he grew accustomed to Micheal’s presence. ( This headcanon can be ignored unless you’re okay with pre-existing relationships)
He is devastated that his wife left him since it was only a few months ago. - When they got married, Jeremy’s mother decided most of the things on her own and he went along with it. But now he realizes that he has no idea what to do.
He is accepting of Jeremy’s lifestyle and wants him to be happy.
He worries that Jeremy will leave him the same way his wife did. He is desperate to keep Jeremy from really growing up at first, but eventually, accepts that it will happen.
He started smoking after the divorce and has been ‘secretly ’ doing so in the back of their house.
Dad had this freelance job ( personal accountant for hire . ) loved but it didn’t make much money. With Jeremy’s birth impending, He ended up having to get the office job to earn an income. Even after the divorce, he kept the job because he had to support Jeremy and pay for the house.
Lately, he started a seasonal job as a tax filing assistance so he earns money during tax season.
But he feels like Jeremy doesn’t appreciate his efforts to keep the house ( the mortgage on it is /very/ high ) and is sort of waiting to see if he is going to college before he sells it.
Dad has Depression ( & “stress response syndrome.”); He got extremely melancholy after the divorce and just did not want to be engaged anymore. Before he had depression but managed it alright.. However, after the divorce, he lost the will to fight it.

Jeremy has left the house so it’s just Mr. Heere alone in the house. He sells it and moves into an apartment instead because he can’t be alone in a house full of memories.

Follows the book canon to a point. Dad is a bit less open and friendly, more prone to being cranky. Still depressed and very unhappy with his current job situation. But he and his wife get along alright, still have little arguments and some screaming matches at times but they make up for it with passionate… lovemaking later on that Jeremy has to leave the house and go hang out at Michaels to avoid.
Personality: Reserved, Gruff and blunt. Inpatient and stubborn.
He does not beat around the bush if he dislikes someone and will drop all politeness. If he decides he is right about something he will dismiss anyone who thinks differently.
He does care about his children deeply but he is terrible at expressing himself. Most of his efforts wound up being ignored so he gave up trying to bond with them. Now he is coasting through until both of them leave the nest.
Appearance: Silver hair with a slightly receding hairline but most of his hair still. He has an ‘old person’ tan from years spent outside. He is physically fit and put together.

( In the canon of the musical, where Connor has taken his own life : Larry is full of regrets and self-loathing. He still refuses to admit out loud that the messed up and should not have given up on Connor so quickly. He is plagued by What-ifs, What if I tried harder? What if I actually put an effort in?
He is furious at Cynthia for prolonging his suffering by Evan’s letters being shoved in his face. He doesn’t want to read them. He wants to stop thinking about Connor, who he had given up on. Who is never going to come back home from college and who he never gets another chance to make up for lost time with.
His middle name is Harley but he was called ’ Larry Harry ’ Murphy by kids at Highschool. He was on the high school baseball team and made it to nationals but he gave up on the sport when he got married.
He spends his free time at the gym or playing in the batting cages.
The Glove was given to Connor when he was 13 because Larry thought he might be ‘responsible ’ enough to own his own glove but it was ignored. Larry had been saving that ’ To break in a glove ’ speech for YEARS. He stopped giving Connor’s gifts any forethought after that. Every present after this was a gift card or something not personal.
Has mostly dated females, He briefly dated one male but broke up with them after graduation because he was pressured to marry a woman and be ’ normal’. He still loves that person secretly and sometimes he regrets that he did not try to hold onto their relationship, but he also loves Cynthia.
He sees Evan as a second chance and takes it immediately. The glove that Connor refused to touch means everything to Larry. It is proof that his efforts to reach out to his son were thrown away. The fact that he left it out for Evan to see means that he desperately wanted the other to show an interest in something he liked.
But while he is singing ‘ Break in the Glove ‘ he is reminded that he never got to tell any of this to Connor because his son never stood long enough for him to get a word in. Every attempt to reach out to Connor was met with a ‘ Yeah later ‘and the boy would just go hide in his room.
Now Evan shows a desperate interest in any kind of attention from him and Larry is not sure what to do. He isn’t used to a boy actually paying attention to him. He expected the other to say something and excuse himself.
This is a chance he never got with Connor.

Larry tries a little harder during this time period but he is beginning to lose hope in his parenting.

Connor died, Evan Lied and everything Larry worked for fell apart.

Cynthia and Larry break up over the events of the play. [connor can either be alive (+) or dead (- ) in this ] If both are alive they ask the kids who they want to live with or if they want to move out.
Larry moves to a different part of the state and Cynthia keeps their house.

Connor survives the attempt but now the Murphy’s are struggling because he’s in a coma and they want to know what happened.
